KenJennings
For a company Halloween pumpkin decorating contest, I decided to show off on behalf of my fellow developers, and built this pumpkin arcade game to represent our department. http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5030/ULomWS.jpg It houses a Raspberry Pi microcomputer and a cheap 3.5 inch LCD tft display. The arcade buttons are wired to a generic usb control board, and sound is provided by a small internal USB speaker. It runs the retropie emulator OS, and uses a Sega Genesis rom of the 1988 game "Ghouls 'N Ghosts". It is fully playable. The exterior is made from two plastic pumpkins, which I cut to fit my needs, and then molded together with modeling putty. I then hand painted the putty to match the pumpkin color, and hand painted the game graphics on the front of the pumpkin. 1-0-0-1-0-0-1
As someone who has built their own arcade controller, I am impressed. Very imaginative and nicely executed. I imagine it's a bit awkward to play, given the narrow base?
KenJennings
As someone who has built their own arcade controller, I am impressed. Very imaginative and nicely executed. I imagine it's a bit awkward to play, given the narrow base? It's not as bad as you might expect. I had the same concern, so I weighted the base down with a crescent edging brick, and it turned out surprisingly stable. It really actually plays pretty nicely... for a pumpkin.
