  1. I'm sorry to hear about the lame fans in you section. It's weird of all the times i've seen Rush that only happened once where the crowd sat down for all of it. That was the super lame ass crowd in Toronto on the T4E tour in the summer of 1997. That's the main reason I won't got back to Toronto to see them despite the fact it's an awesome city to visit. Since the VT tour I haven't experienced any trouble with crowds not standing for a Rush show. Even when it's a song most people don't know 95 percent of them still stand for it. It's about respect to me and I think you're disrespecting a band live if you're sitting for most or all of it. Next time you go to see Rush at a state fair, try and score tickets in the track seating section. I was right up in front and it seemed that everyone in track seating was standing up and loving it. This was the best of the 8 times i've seen them. The only question is, now that i've experienced Rush from the front row, how can I go back to sitting somewhere else for one of their shows ever again?
  2. I think it's obvious that the band likes the song. That's pretty much all there is to it. It really doesn't need much over analysis at all. It's my second favorite instrumental from them behind La Villa. MalNar and TMMB were played on both legs of S&A so it's not like they've been absent from the set forever or something. Prelude was technically played on the 30 anniversary tour as part of the R30 Overture. Yeah, I know it was only like 40 seconds of it but at least part of it was played WMT and Limbo were pretty much instrumentals for those particular tours and that's it. I have a feeling TMMB and MalNar are in the same boat, I really don't see those two coming back again.
  3. QUOTE (fonzbear2000 @ Sep 3 2010, 09:39 PM) A couple other songs? I saw strobes used in parts of at LEAST half of the songs played. Watch some of the video bootlegs from the tour and you'll see that I'm correct. Why do I have to look at the live boots? I've seen them twice this tour. The first time I was about half way back and the second was from the front row. What exactly are the boots gonna show me that I didn't see at all? I don't know what else I can tell you about it I've seen shows that have had excessive strobes and this tour is deffinitley not one of them.
  4. I was in the first row last night in Syracuse and I didn't have problem with the strobes. In fact they didn't even use them that often. Vital Signs had them and just a couple other songs had brief strobes in them. That was it. My advice to you is next time you go to a concert and you don't want the strobes or lighting to bother you, just wear a hat. Pull it down as low as possible so it shelters your eyes and it'll block out some of lights from bothering you.
  5. QUOTE (Jomboni @ Sep 2 2010, 02:04 PM) I bet 60 is Natural Science If that is ranked that low i'm done viewing this thread. There is no way that there's 59 Rush songs better than Natual Science. I can give you two or three but that's about it.
  6. This just goes to show everyone that you need to get to the venue as early as possible. What was the show time? If it started at 7:30 or 8:00 than arriving at 7:15 is cutting it really close. It sucks that happened and I understand that you got the parking pass with the ticket but that doesn't garantee anything. Nothing is for certian when you go to a concert. Always get to the venue early because parking problems, tickets won't scan, seats aren't set up right in the venue, etc can easily occur. It doesn't happen a lot but it's always a possibility. I'm not saying what happened is your fault as it quite obvious that the event staff screwed up something. Just take it as a lesson for next time. You can never be to sure when you go to a concert, especially if it's at a state fair where the venue isn't exactly setup for concerts specifically.
  7. I'll be in the first row so I can tell you after the show how good the view is Seriously though, i've never been there myself. I know from seeing a show at the local fair here in Buffalo that fair seating isn't that great at all. Hopefully it won't be too bad for this show Being in the grandstand is A LOT worse for state fair shows than being on the track. Still, i'm not sure why bands are willing to play them since the seating always seems a bit messed up to me. If you wanna talk more about this show with the fans here who are going to it. 8. QUOTE (fonzbear2000 @ Aug 29 2010, 05:37 PM) ^^^^Typical of an ultra, diehard fan who's afraid to say anything negative about their precious Rush. You're like that with Iron Maiden so I wouldn't be calling anyone else out on that at all. It has nothing to do with not saying anything bad about them. It just that the strobes weren't excessive as far as some of us are concerned and some of us didn't have a problem with it. I didn't have a problem with them when I saw them in Saratoga Springs. When I see them at the state fair in Syracuse on thursday i'll be in the front row, so i'll be able to get a better idea on how often the strobes are used and if they are bothersome or not. At the first show I went to I was off on Geddy's side of the stage and away from the lights so nothing bothered me at all.
  9. QUOTE (Deckiller @ Aug 29 2010, 02:54 PM) The list so far... 155. Rivendell 148. How It Is 147. Virtuality 146. Lakeside Park 145. Anagram (For Mongo) 143. Beneath, Between and Behind 138. Peaceable Kingdom 137. Cinderella Man 134. Time and Motion 133. Good News First 128. Presto 126. Totem 125. Freeze 123. The Big Wheel 121. Alien Shore 120. War Paint 117. Tai Shan 116. Spindrift 114. Vapor Trail 113. Between Sun and Moon While I find this a very intresting read. I can't see how these songs here can be ranked so low? Especially HIS, CM, BB&B, Presto, PK and BTS&M.
  10. I don't mind them as long as the band isn't overdoing it. I didn't have a problem with it when I saw them. I have seen shows though where bands do it on almost every song and that gets annoying. In bigger places where Rush plays it's not bad but if you have a ton of strobes in a small theater or club that's when they bother me.
  11. As far as I know after this tour is done they're going back into the studio to finish Clockwork Angels. There won't be anything else until next spring/summer when the album is supposed to be released.
  12. Good job, Nobody's Hero on getting as much info about this as you can. I'm not a lawyer but it sounds to me like you've got a solid case here. Hopefully you can get something out of this. You're right the whole thing does stink all around and like I said on my earlier post it's seems pretty obvious to me that security was getting some money from David's tickets to do that. Security at my local amphitheater has always been pretty solid and they are very strict about checking tickets, making sure people are in the right sections and not having people clutter the isle's during the shows. There's no way that at least the security up where you were wasn't in on this.
  13. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Aug 25 2010, 10:51 AM)Sorry, but this just doesn't make sense. Why in the worls would security support this if they were sold illegaly? My guess is that this "David" has got some sort of serious pull at the venue or in something that's related to the venue. I'm guessing if security is allowing the guy to do this that they're probably getting a cut from whatever money "David" makes off the tickets. Still, this is very strange indeed i've been going to concerts for 18 years. I've seen shows in every type of venue both big and small and i've never heard of anything like this ever happening.
  14. J2112YYZ

    Who is...

I've been a Rush fan for close to 20 years and this is the first i've heard of either of these people. Somewhat intresting to know this but at the same time also a bit disturbing.
  15. La Villa!!! It's not even close with me. All the instrumentals are great but LVS is just about the finest display of musicianship you'll ever hear.
  16. It does suck when that happens at a concert or any other event where there's a lot of people. Trying to reason and tell people not to do it won't work. Some people are gonna be assholes like that no matter what. Yeah, it's annoying but it comes with the territory and in all my years of going to concerts i've learned to accept it and enjoy the show as much as I can despite how obnoxious some people can be.
  17. He doesn't do that much talking. Just the usual stuff like welcoming everyone after a few songs and introducing a few others. Nothing major at all at my show, which I like. There's nothing I hate more at a concert than a singer who won't shut up between songs. It takes away from the flow of the show and takes time away from playing songs. The "Hello Canada" thing from the S&A tour I don't mind because Rush doesn't normally waste time talking that much and Geddy had a cool reason for doing it. I prefer a band to shut up and play since that's what i've paid to see them do. Which is exactly what Rush does live.
  18. I won't be at the show but they're filiming it on my birthday. For some reason I think that's kinda cool
  19. Going solo is fun for almost any concert not just Rush. Honestly, as soon as the show starts i'm not paying attention or talking to the people I went with anyways. If it's a general admission show most of the time I lose who i'm with during it and we just meet up where we parked afterwards I have no problem either way. If I go to a show alone that's fine and if I go with people that's fine to. The main point is once the show starts i'm concertrating on that and not weather i'm with anyone or not.
  20. QUOTE (jonboy71 @ Aug 11 2010, 06:06 PM) I need a ticket. Anyone got an extra? call or text me at 919-522-2826. I'll be heading to the venue shortly in hopes of finding a ticket. It's RUSH by no means must you wait until you go to the venue on the day of the show in hopes of finding a ticket Always have a ticket to get in. That way you're not completely screwed out of the show.
  21. This this whole fans that suck thread reminds of something that happened to me when I saw them on the VT tour in 2002. My brother and I were fairly close to the stage I think it was within the first 15 rows. Anyways after they get done playing Vital Signs a guy in the row in front of me, who must've saw me singing along to it, turns and asks me "what song was that?" I was dumbfounded for a second. This guy was about 40 and if he had anything from Rush surely he owned a copy of Moving Pictures right? I told him the name of the song and the album. He just nodded his head to me and turned back around to watch the show. The point is many people go to shows for different reasons. Maybe that guy won them or someone couldn't go and he got the ticket for free. Or possibly the man was an idiot or drunk You never really now for sure what kind of people will show up at these things. I was a little irked at the guy after the show. My brother and I were thinking "how can you go see Rush and at least not know the stuff off MP?" But as time went on I thought maybe he was just a casual fan and went to see them to try and get into more of their music. Obviously he liked VS or he wouldn't have asked me what the song was. So maybe he ended up liking more stuff from the band by going.
  22. QUOTE (Nate1647 @ Aug 9 2010, 12:06 PM)but when i hear comments behind me during marathon (one of the top songs of the night IMO) like, "This whole set is a joke, I'm only here for TCE" it just infuriates me. At least that person knows what TCE is Which is more than I can say for a lot of people i've seen at Rush shows in the past.
  23. QUOTE (Nate1647 @ Aug 8 2010, 03:26 PM) Me and my buddy had seats pretty far back in the 200's last night (fine by us, best sound is right there), and we were SHOCKED at how dead the crowd was. about 5 whole rows in front of us left/sat down for TSS through Marathon. thats the whole damn set pretty much. I guess thats cool for us as we were able to see everything perfectly, but it was pissing me off. everyone in rush shirts claiming to be the bands biggest fan? yea right. someone needs to make a shirt thats proclaims "I am a huge rush fan! But only pre GUP." Thats what it felt like last night. Of course everyone loved MP, but when caravan started up people went quiet. Back for CTTH and 2112, quiet and unanimated during Far Cry. Is it so hard to understand that you're seeing 3 of the best musicians in the world, they are at the TOP of their game (and its true, all three of them put on one HELL of a show last night, best i've ever seen them), and they won't be doing this forever! Thats my little rant haha You need to keep in mind that as great as they are not everyone is into everything they've done. Also where is your evidence that everyone who was wearing a Rush shirt and sitting down were claiming to be their biggest fans? Of course when Caravan started everyone went silent. Nobody knows what the song is. It's not like the radio has played it at all or everyone is on the internet or itunes looking to download it. That isn't something everyone does. Why are you expecting people to be excited for a song that's very much still unknown? I love just about everything they've done but just because I do doesn't mean everyone else at a show must as well. If they only know the 'best of' stuff and still wanna spend $100 on a ticket let them. If people are going just to say that "they were there" then that's their problem and not something any of us fans who are there to enjoy the show need to worry about. I've been going to concerts since 1992 and this problem isn't just with Rush. It's with almost every show i've ever seen. It's an unavoidable thing at a big concert and I learned a long time ago to just accept it and move on.
  24. QUOTE (Mara @ Aug 7 2010, 04:06 PM) My early hatred of Red Lenses is pretty well documented here - hated it from the word "go" and skipped it every time I played GUP. (Wore out a few cassettes that way). 25 years later, I decided to give it another listen and INSTANTLY fell in love. Right now I'm warming up to a lot of what's on T4E. I felt exactly the same about Red Lenses for a long time. But over the last couple of years i've learned to like it more. I just seems like they're just having fun on that song and that's what made me start to appreciate it.
  25. Great review thanks for sharing. I was at the show to and you summed everything up very well
