Fans: Thank you for drumming up interest for our forthcoming tour. Unfortunately, the kit pictured here is simply for historical reference, to be included in our R40 Traveling Museum, accompanying our tour. Ged, Al and I thought this would be obvious to our fans as we no longer play songs 1977 - 1979. Furthermore, talk of my imminent retirement is premature, as Clockwork Angels needs to be played live for years to come. Many thanks, Neil . . :ebert:

That is a thing of beauty. Makes me even more determined to get to the Boston show. It's definitely NOT in my budget (kids in college, etc...) but man, I've got to see that kit in action!

Agreed 100%. Not talking about the audio quality, but the performance. It just "flows" better than any boot I've ever heard.

Because it's terrible? limbo is not terrible can YOU play it? What does one have to do with the other? There are a lot of songs I think are terrible, but can't play. Does that mean they are automatically great songs? What if he can play it? Does that still make it terrible? For the record I'm against Limbo as well, and I can probably play it, so I guess my opinion is more valid? :)

i would wear mine because i want to dress nice today :) I would wear mine, but it doesn't fit anymore. 1984 was a LONG time ago :)

Which Rush album took the longest to grow on you?
kevind2112 replied to Rush Fan in Michigan's topic in Rush
Another vote for Presto. It took years for it to finally grow on me. Love it now. Though I guess technically the answer would be S&A, but because it STILL hasn't grown on me, the "finally" part hasn't happened yet... -
Should Rush release a re-mastered version of "Exit...Stage Left"?
kevind2112 replied to ALifeson85's topic in Rush
??? Frickin' La Villa frickin' Strangifrickinato? Take it off? Noooononononononononono. Agreed 100%. To me that is the definitive version of La Villa. No way I'd want that removed! If the multi-track masters still exist (which I doubt for some reason), then clean up the mud, bring the audience back in, and add any missing tracks that exist. As someone else said, I'd buy it twice if they released it! -
What tour would you go back to see if you had a time machine?
kevind2112 replied to YYZumbi's topic in On The Lighted Stage
My first tour was Grace Under Pressure, so I won't count any tours I've already seen. I was definitely pick the Permanent Waves tour. It was the perfect blend of all of their albums up to that point. You got to hear all of the big epics, plus the new stuff, Freewill, Natural Science, Jacob's Ladder,, etc. What an amazing set list. Complete set list: 2112 Freewill By-Tor Xanadu Spirit of Radio Natural Science Passage to Bangkok The Trees Cygnus X-1 Hemispheres Closer to the Heart Beneath, Between and Behind Jacob's Ladder Medley: - Working Man - Anthem - Bastille Day - In The Mood - Drum solo Encore: La Villa Strangiato -
CTTC absolutely. As much as I love Losing It, the chance to play it "right" was the CA tour, as others have mentioned. CTTC is the cut I want to hear from Counterparts.

No Satellite Kit for Neil This Tour

The Simmons pads were hell on elbows! They need to stay in the archives. V-drums (which he still has in his kit) are much more user friendly. Absolutely, the Simmons pads may have looked cool, but they were horrible to play. Hard rubber with no give, they do a hell of a job on your wrists and elbows. I'm using Alesis pads with real heads on them. SOOOO much better. Plus, the controller has some old school Simmons samples in it, so I can still recreate all those cool sounds! -
Especially knowing that it was now out of the way, and you could enjoy the rest of the show without wondering when it was going to pop up :)

PET PEEVE ALERT!!!!! :) :) :) You got me... :) :) :)

It will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER happen. They know they are pretty much obligate to play the song. For better or worse it's their most popular song, and they like playing it. It would be similar to Journey not playing "Don't Stop Believin'" or Kiss not playing "Rock and Roll All Night". It's just not going to happen. I personally could care less if I ever hear it live again, but I know it's going to happen :)

No Satellite Kit for Neil This Tour

I gathered from what Lorne Wheaton said that there will be few if any electronic drums at all this tour. Judging by that overview of his kit, it looks to have 4 electronic pads, plus the Kat controller. I'm sure there is a foot pedal trigger as well. Plenty of electronics for what he'll need for this tour. But we don't really KNOW what he'll need for this tour. :D True, true.... :) -

Because one bass drum with a double pedal is the way to go. Tuning, mic'ing, positioning of other drums, everything is much easier with one bass drum. While the double bass drum setup "looks" cool, there hasn't been a practical reason to use that kind of setup in decades, especially with the increase in quality of double bass pedals. There's something about two bass drums that just makes a drum kit look complete. I absolutely agree that a double bass kit "looks" a lot cooler. But trust me, as a drummer, using an actual double bass setup is a pain in the butt! :) -

The Weapon was never played on the Satellite kit. Even though there are electronics in the song, it was played on the main kit on the Grace Under Pressure tour. Witch Hunt was played on the satellite kit, but it could still be managed very easily on the main kit. So if you are hoping for the Fear Trilogy (Quadrilogy?) it could still happen. And yes, I'm hoping we'll see that as well! Mystic Rhythms could still technically be played on the main kit as long as there is access to the proper sounds via pads (which judging by that photo he does) but I still wouldn't expect to hear it this time around. -
the idea of a "chronological setlist"

Not if he sang it similar to how he did in the medley they did during the Roll The Bones tour (at about 14:00) http://youtu.be/rT_G3y1Yngw -

There is no doubt in my mind there will still be electronic pads, etc., sprinkled throughout the main kit, it's just interesting that this will be the first time since Grace Under Pressure that there will be no satellite kit. 30+ years! It would be really cool if he brought back a few acoustic percussion elements behind him (tubular bells, etc) just for old time sake, but I seriously doubt it. -
Not sure if this has been posted already. In this interview with Lorne, he mentions there will be no satellite kit this tour, and the riser will not be rotating. Just thought that was interesting.... http://youtu.be/l5FbN_FhX3M

I literally just discovered these guys about a week and a half ago. I LOVE the first album. I've had it on constant play, and I've been youtubing the crap out of their live performances (Ritual in San Francisco is amazing). I can't wait for the new album this spring. Imagine my surprise when I find out that Nick produced the new album. Small world :)

Hah. I noticed it the day it came out, and actually returned TWO LPs before I realized that it was recorded that way. Good times...
