  1. Autobuy for me. I liked The Hunter (that's where I started with the band) so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too.
  2. I have Little Earthquakes and From the Choirgirl Hotel. Both are great but I've never listened to any of her other albums.
  3. I saw an interview with Danny Cavanagh where he said that John Douglas is going to be focused more on songwriting, along with adding percussion/synths. It is kind of weird how Jamie Cavanagh just kind of left though. He hardly even played on Weather Systems.

I also need to get a few that have been already released, including Pat Metheny Unity Group, Cynic, Univers Zero, Mike Oldfield, and Mogwai, however, I probably won't get to those until the summer, at the earliest.
  6. I only have Swordfishtrombones, which is great and pretty unique. Got to give some of his other albums a try.

  11. I've honestly gotten a bit tired of Spock's Beard/Flower Kings/Transatlantic style modern prog. A lot of it is starting to sound like "prog for the sake of being prog" (e.g. the new Transatlantic, which sounds bloated). Granted, I still really like Big Big Train, Beardfish, Phideaux, and several others that play more retro-style stuff. But anyway, here's a list of some of my favorite prog albums of the last 10 years. Secret Chiefs 3 - Book of Horizons (2004) echolyn - The End is Beautiful (2005) Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon (2007) Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic, Part Two (2008) Birds and Buildings - Banton to Behemoth (2008) Cheer-Accident - Fear Draws Misfortune (2009) Knifeworld - Buried Alone: Tails of Crushing Defeat (2009) miRthkon - Vehicle (2009) Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here (2010) & Weather Systems (2012) Moon Safari - Lover's End (2010) Gosta Berlings Saga - Glue Works (2011) Jack o' the Clock - How Are We Doing And Who Will Tell Us? (2011) & All My Friends (2013) White Willow - Terminal Twilight (2011) Big Big Train - English Electric, Part One (2012) & Part Two (2013) iamthemorning - ~ (2012) Thank You Scientist - Maps of Nonexistent Places (2012) Chrome Hoof - Chrome Black Gold (2013) Mike Keneally - You Must Be This Tall (2013) Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (2013) Some samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNleAiOTpX4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBRPJQxyov8
  12. I've used it twice. In both instances, the sellers never shipped the items (CDs) and did not respond to emails. I had no problem with Amazon and both times they refunded me within a week or so of filing the claim.
  13. Next month I'm seeing Zappa Plays Zappa, Steve Hackett, and Ron Carter (with Billy Cobham on drums).
  14. I'm a huge fan of them. The debut is one of my favorite recent albums and the new EP is very good as well. Can't wait for the new album...Gavin Harrison is playing drums on it!
  15. The only albums I have are The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain, both of which I love. I'll probably end up getting the new one when it comes out, along with Pale Folklore.
  16. Didn't know this! Looking forward to hearing the album.
  17. Great album, but I think I like Remember the Future a bit more.
  18. Just started listening to these guys, so this is pretty exciting!
  19. My thoughts as well. I read something online (from someone who presumably received a promo/review copy) saying that it sounds more like a Neal Morse solo album and not so much a group effort. Considering that Neal Morse has been writing the same album over and over again for over a decade, I'm not expecting anything great/different. Oh great......Neil is really dried up solo wise. The conversion to christianity really hurt him artistically. Mick I have no problem with his lyrics (I can easily ignore them if I don't like them) but I always get the sense that since his conversion he puts more effort in them rather than focusing on writing good music. I think I saw an interview with him once where he basically confirmed that; he said something like the music serves as a backdrop to the message or whatever. And it definitely does show in his solo work. But if that's how he likes to make music, then more power to him I guess.
