  1. You have to boot one of them. Ha. My mountain is huge.
  2. Jimi Hendrix Jeff Beck David Gilmour Gary Moore Lidsey Buckingham
  3. This has to be the worst review of a concert by a classic band I've ever seen. I haven't seen this tour yet but so far all the reviews indicate that Eddie is playing better than he has in years if not decades. It's hard to imagine that the show was anywhere near this bad. http://www.heyreverb.com/blog/2015/07/21/van-halen-at-red-rocks-amphitheatre-photos-review/106005/
  4. Otis Taylor - Definition of a Circle Mt. Royal - Mt. Royal The Cult - Beyond Good and Evil Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth - The Chemical Wedding Blue Oyster Cult - Imaginos ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart
  5. Lol, wut? Jr. High humor. Crimson Glory and Savatage started out at the same time and were both from the Tampa area and were both mentioned constantly on local radio back in the early to mid 80's. There wasn't much love for either band when I was in school, I would say now mostly because they were overexposed in the area, not necessarily because they sucked, though Savatage kinda did. Savatage was from Tarpon Springs, commonly referred to as Tampon Springs. So it didn't take much imagination for kids to go from tampon to crimson, etc... They played so many shows together that whenever they played separately someone would inevitably remark that one was no good without the other.
  6. Any band named after menstruation deserves to be ignored.
  7. I met them at a local TV station that showed music videos when I was 14. It was just before Appetite came out and no one knew who they were. I was dating the station managers daughter and he introduced me to them and they were as nice as could be. Their manager came over and gave me a cassette of the album and a t-shirt. I thought they were really cool. Someone told them to get ready to go on air and their manager handed then half empty Jack Daniels bottles (which had iced tea in them I found out later) and as soon as they were being filmed they started acting like they were wasted dirtbags and were totally rude and obnoxious. I could never see them as anything but a joke and pretty much quit listening to hair metal because of that. That album, though, is in the running for greatest debut album by a band ever. I don't think of them as a hair metal band though. Most of them hair metal bands (and I love many of them) were basically caricatures of Van Halen (and we're back to this topic). These guys were much darker, even if some of it was posturing. I never think of them as hair metal either. Sadly, with Axl Rose proving to be a real jerk, I no longer believe there was a lot of posturing. When young, that sort of behaviour is "rock n roll", but when you age, it's just arrogant and, well, jerk like behaviour. And Slash has done nothing great since, in all honesty all his work sounds exactly the same, and I hate the way Myles Kennedy sings with his new band. I think all of Appetite was posturing. I think they were actually clean cut guys who adopted the mean streets of L.A. image to fit in. The real Axl was the one we saw later who wanted GnR to be more like Queen. I don't think it's beyond the pale to question their song writing contributions on Appetite either given how flaccid the followups were. I honestly don't think any of the songs on Appetite are that great. But like many popular bands, I accept they have their fans. But this band I just don't get. Bon Jovi is the same. But then again, I love them and yet I actually agree with all the criticism they receive! I'll never understand Bon Jovi's enduring popularity. But I don't begrudge them that popularity either because I think JBJ has worked really hard to keep them going. I can think of a lot of equally or more talented bands that have faded away because they didn't work as hard to stay relevant or popular.
  8. Blues or Rock Gary though? :guitar: There's room in my heart for both but I'd be lying if I didn't say Rock Gary occupied more space.
  9. Decent? ;) Yeah, that guy was pretty good. What ever happened to him?

  11. I think part of the problem is his lack of output. VH basically had 20 years of original material and most would accept that the second ten years was nowhere near as meaningful as the first. Since then it's been years of strange behavior, pointless feuding, premature health crises and poor playing. This tour could go a long way to rehabilitating his image and legacy. It's been a long time since he's played well consistently but he finally looks truly physically healthy. I hope for his sake they keep it together and have something to show for it other than yet another problematic tour and bitchy feuding.
  12. I've never understood anything Eddie has done. He never had his sights set that high. When things got tough in VH he tried to join KISS. Clearly he was more burdened by leadership than concerned with writing good material. If MA was of so little value why didn't he replace him in '85 along with Roth? Wolfgang isn't really an upgrade. Maybe he's a better player but AVH and MA were always the most predictable and boring rhythm section of any band of VH's popularity.
  13. Mogwai? Mr. Beast is a masterpiece! But I liked this mainly for, I dunno, the inclusion of some random guy! Which one? Gary or Bruce?
  14. Rush Pink Floyd Gary Moore Mogwai Bruce Springsteen

  16. Jimmy Buffett. Can't stand his music, fans, business or 'philosophy'.
  17. Volume 1 huh? That's pretty ballsy. The best thing you can say about them is at least they're not Creed.
  18. Because they're the musical equivalent of defecation. Never listening to them could kill you? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/they're
  19. What does Bruce Jenner have to do with this?
  20. Say what? You're converting vinyl to 320 mp3 and then converting the 320 file to flac? That's like taking 1080 video and down converting it to 480 and then taking that 480 file and up converting it to 1080. You end up with an inferior version of what you had to begin with.
  21. Two pages in and no John Rutsey yet?
  22. Not sure if the band has a policy but in Tampa the ushers made a point to tell us pictures were OK but no recording before we went down to our seats and they were actively policing in our section during the show. It was pretty annoying and pointless. During the middle of a song an usher appears somewhere in you line of sight pulsing a flashlight to get someones attention to get them to stop while probably 20% of the audience is straight up recording and even more are taking pictures.
  23. I wouldn't be surprised if they add approx. 15 dates sometime between late September and mid November given their comments in the RS article about it being a little easier than they thought. The announcement would have to come in the next couple of weeks though.
