  3. QUOTE (Snyder80 @ Jul 3 2010, 04:18 PM) I'd be thrilled beyond words if they were playing the theme to Sesame Street. for me, a 7. But just happy to get to see them again.
  4. Rush has been around so long, and played so many styles, that true fans are going to have a variety of opinions about the band and music. I'm not 100% happy with the set lists for TM, but if I can find the time to go (not sure yet), I'm definately there. The thing is the media has not been kind to Rush over the years, so there's a lot of bashing that irritates us. I don't like every song and every album myself (maybe someone should start a "Least Favorite Rush Album" thread), but I still count them as my favorite band. I do think Neil did the fans wrong by not showing up for the Walk of Fame. I mean, come on! Mr. Peart, you're one of the three, and you had to take your motorcycle trip instead. Just rambling.
  5. I saw Steve Miller back around '89, and his set list was excellent. He played all the hits, and some more obscure songs in very high quality. Phish always put on a good show. They are an incredible live band. YES is another band that truly delivered when I saw them. Midnight Oil too.
  6. R rated. Don't own every album, but I've heard them all many times via friends over the years. I will say Rush is my favorite band. I like a lot of bands and genres, but what keeps me coming back to Rush are the lyrics and their high-grade instrumentals. I actually just went out and bought Different Stages - my new favorite. It's like being right there at a show.
  7. you attend a symphony concert one evening, and just can't seem to get Superconductor out of your head. you have jury duty and can't help humming Show Don't Tell. you visit an antique car convention just to get a glimpse of a Red Barchetta
  8. We are young wandering the face of the earth wondering what our dreams might be worth learning that we're only immortal for a limited PANTS!
  9. Great pictures! Wish I could have zipped over to the left coast for this!
  10. QUOTE (bigalfan @ Jun 22 2010, 02:13 PM)David Gilmour: Remember That Night - Live at the Royal Albert Hall Any Floyd/Gilmour fans seen or own this one? WOW! Just WOW! If you don't have the DVD/Blu-ray...it is WELL worth the money. In fact, Echoes, by itself, is worth the money. There are also some nice surprise guests that are "accompanying" the great string bender on this one. Gilmour is simply an amazing musician/guitarist. OPENING If this has been posted already...couldn't find it in a search. My apologies. David is one of my favorite musicians. I don't the live CD, but I love On an Island and David live in Gdansk. Too bad his tour didn't take him to Florida. Big Floyd fan too. I did see the movie "David", last year. http://donescense.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/david_gilmour_cbe.jpg

  12. QUOTE (Ya_Big_Tree @ Jun 24 2010, 02:20 PM)It's sunny and 21C currently here in Yellowknife, NWT It's expected to get up to 23C later today. Great weather for my day off! Ooh, to be out of the humidity! Try a heat index of 100 - 110 F. Wait until winter to come to Florida, the heat and the oil spill will subside by then.
  13. Dreamline. We're only immortal for a limited time.
  14. This is the album that made me a solid RUSH fan for ever after. I truly love all of these songs, but I have to go with Time Stands Still. A close second is Second Nature or Mission. I love the movie they played during this song on the Presto tour back in '90. And I love the live version on Show of Hands too. forever.
  15. Marathon. This is my favorite Rush song. I love the live version on the Show of Hands DVD. The lyrics, the live performances I remember, and I love the animated movie they played along with it. Life is a marathon.
  16. SUBDIVISIONS. Having grown up in the suburbs, I can kinda relate to this song. Yes. Very Good.
  17. Red Bar - freakin' - chetta! When I saw the Presto tour back in '90, the second Alex started in with the intro to this song, the entire arena exploded in cheering, and it was hard hearing Getty's voice after that. This is just a great song to sing along to. I adore it!
  18. Another tie between "Spirit..." and "Freewill". I went with Spirit of Radio, it's just an incredible song, including an allusion to the words of Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence". One likes to believe in the freedom of music....
  19. Oh, Canada! It's a tie between "La Villa..." and "The Trees". I picked the later. A struggle between the English and the Canadians, who win their independence. Finally.
  20. Every Rush show I've seen, they always end with "Closer to the "
  21. 2112 AD, the year of revolution in the Solar Federation.
  22. "la guillotine will claim her bloody prize" celebrate Bastille Day!
