  1. For me it's really simple...I have seen every tour starting with Signals for the exception of the Power Windows Tour. I only need to see a few more songs live and my Rush tour life will be complete. My favorite Rush song is Jacobs Ladder. If they indeed omit this again even after Alex flat out said they are bringing it back for this tour is just a major letdown....I mean major. I am very excited to see Presto, Time Stand Still, Faithless and Marathon. TCE is also going to be a major treat. But I am not one of those long time hard cores who has been pining for TCE...I have been pining for Jacobs Ladder which is by all accounts at least to my ears a quisesential classic epic frrom Rush. I expected a more EPIC setlist for the Time Machine Tour. It really is only JL I am big time upset about and they are playing Stick it Out which is a very weak Rush song...I mean really man..that is just bullshit that tune.....plug in The Analog Kid Red Sector A Even friggin Dreamline or another standard like The Trees or Force 10...anything but that hunk of shit. Other than that is is a good set list and I am sure it will all sound great...plus we are getting the 2 new tunes, La Villa, 2112....which always rocks. It's good...it's setting in that it's going to be a great show.....but please...I hope they are holding back Jacobs Ladder till tomorrow night! I have one more day of hope.
  2. Now I have to read the setlist tomorrow night. I need to know that this is hopefully not the full monty. Is it a good set list...yeah it's good I will love it all when I am at thr show juiced up and ready to rock....but Jacobs Ladder was so key for me this tour. Stick it Out? Come on guys I mean really...it is one of the weakest tracks on CP...seriously...bust out Cut to the Chase...or Alien Shore...do you really think anyone even remotly remembers this was the first single of CP? The song is weak. No Grace Under Pressure stuff? Awful. No Analog Kid...come on man. I really hope this is not it.....what Time Machine? I am one who never really whines...but their last 3 tours have been steller...I mean really steller set lists...this will be a major letdown for me if this is it. 30 year fan here.
  3. QUOTE (PariahDog @ Jun 28 2010, 06:43 PM) I think this is probably it, or very close. IIRC, the setlists that were leaked for S&A (after folks had listened in on the venue rehearsals) were pretty accurate. There may be a song or two they didn't play in the rehearsal. Or maybe there will be a couple of A/B songs they didn't play. But I think this is probably pretty close. Bummer...I am truly bummed. If they do not play Jacobs Ladder...I am friggin really bummed. There are a slew of cool choices in Presto, Marathon and Faithless.....but no Jacobs Ladder again!!!!!! Say in ain't so. And Alex talked about it...what the f**k.
  4. This is not the set list....I am hoping...this is not the set list.
  5. Good song......but not in the league fo Afterimage or The Enemy Within as far as deep vault classics grom Grace Under Pressure.
  6. QUOTE (Mara @ Jun 25 2010, 08:04 AM) QUOTE (ProfGumby @ Jun 25 2010, 08:20 AM) QUOTE (LedZep @ Jun 24 2010, 10:25 AM) I don't mind standing, and appreciate the energy and enthusiasm everyone has. I also am sure that the band enjoys the energy they get from it too. But I do like to be able to sit once in awhile, after all it's not a GA show, and I do have a chair. Inevitably, I get stuck behind the 6'+ guy who stands the entire show and sloshes beer all over everyone around him. Whats worse, that guy or the guy who puts his girl on his shoulders so no one can see? If that happened in front of me, she wouldn't stay there for long. I don't mind little kids standing in their seats. I'd prefer that their parents not put them on their shoulders, though, unless they're on the lawn. The extra foot-and-a-half makes a big difference, and it gets tiring quickly to have to crane your head around the offenders. Well...I am taking my little padiwan to his first Rush show and I will tell the people behind me before the show starts if they would not mind if I put him on my shoudlers for a few songs. I would never do it all night long....no way that is rude. But I want him to at least have some fun on a few songs and be able to really see the stage. Most of the night he will stand on his chair which would make him probably 5'3'' I already explained to him it will be hard for him to see a lot but I think he is going to be so blown away it won't matter too much. He is very excited for this. As far as myself.....I don't sit for one waking second of a Rush concert.....ever.
  7. Awesome performance indeed.
  8. So I have the Grey Box version of the new BD/DVD from the band. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watched it in 5.1 in my favorite chair and this performance solidifies my stance that FOABP/Nil Recurring is the pinnacle of their catalog thus far. I do love The Incident as well but this tour was insane. The performances are just jaw dropping, the sound and mix of this BD is of the highest quality. The live 2 CD set that comes with the deluxe Grey Box is also amazing. Porcupine Tree are the best band in the world at this moment. No one is writing and performing progressive music at this level right now. No one. Not even my numero uno Rush. If you have not bought the BD/DVD yet......do so.
  9. If you purchased tickets through the Musictoday presale and bought the shirt and water bottle bundle you are automatically entered into the meet and greet drawing for each city you bought tickets for as well as the bundle. So I bought a bundle for my wife for the West Palm show and bought a bundle for myself for the Tampa show so 2 entries. I did this for the Snakes tour as well...did not win for any cities and I had 4 entries (2 for each leg). You also will win in addition to a meet and greet a hand signed copy of the tour book anthology. Fingers crossed.
  10. Looking at this list.....I get such a friggin woody at the thought of hearing the: Broons Bane/The Trees/Xanadu suite again in that order. How epic that will be!!!! Ok I want this to be the set list. And if it is....I don't care if I am spoiled now because I am so pumped for this tour. This is a hardcores dream.
  11. We are getting so close to knowing....I keep saying I will not look....and I won't. But if this ends up being the setlist or anything remotly close to this list long time hard cores need to STFU forever. This setlist would be amazing. And I love the idea of MP ending the first set and starting the second set. It makes so much sense to have the city noise during the intermission and then the keyboard walk up introduction....man I can already hear it now. Rush is back!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Rush has probably tried out a bunch of pre 2112 stuff and it just did not work for them. They do not want to play a tune that would not sound right. Those vocals are insanly high. And I have heard The Who these days...not even close to what they used to sound like. They sound old. Rush still sounds young, hard and loud. And who cares if we don't hear some high screamers anymore.....they have so much material! Bring on the tour!!!!
  13. My sig says it all......long wait....but we get the last 2 shows of what will be an epic tour and setlist. And no I am not peaking. No friggin way!!!
  14. QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Jun 17 2010, 12:57 PM) none, even if they play roll the bones - i have minions who get beers for me plus, i use a catheter for big shows like this. Roll the Bones friggin rocks the house bro. That's right I said it.
  15. The only time I ever considered getting a beer during a Rush concert was the 2007 Snakes and Arrows tour....Summer Time Blues....the friggin nerve to bust out one of those covers again!
  16. Marathon and Middletown Dreams.....and I think we get at least one if not both! And I agree with Alex's Gibson growl the synth era stuff is sounding thick and meaty these days.
  17. QUOTE (Hemispheres89 @ Jun 17 2010, 11:11 AM) Today is exactly 30 days ( a month) before my show. I certainly hope they come over the next two weeks. By the way, if they always ship it out 2-4 weeks before your date, then how come this guy for August got his way before anybody else? Some venues allow them to print and release them earlier then others. I think it has to do with the venue. Don't know for sure....but...bottom line is you will get them. No worries.
  18. The off key...or cracking voice (yodel) in this song is what gives the verses some character and of course was done on purpose. I think a couple of them were really off and they left it because of that. Aquired taste I guess for this song...but to me it works great and the chrous and guitar solo are top notch on this tune....very powerful.
  19. QUOTE (syd11 @ Jun 17 2010, 07:51 AM) QUOTE (okiimatsu @ Jun 17 2010, 01:11 AM) Just received an e-mail from the pre-sale that my tickets for the August 13th show in Irvine, California have shipped! Much sooner than I expected for sure! So you get a confirming email for a show 2 months away yet I sit here freaking out about not getting tickets, an email or anything telling me that my tickets are coming for a show in just over 2 weeks. I received a very generic "form" email from MT this morning saying "tickets are sent out approximately 2 weeks before the event". Nothing specific about the order number(s) I provided. To me this is just their way of saying your concerns aren't important to us. You'll see 'em when you see 'em. I'm F'N pissed. Holly crap......before you have a stroke...relaaaaaax. I have been getting pre-sale tickets from MT since the VT tour....they always send them out 2-4 weeks before the show on average. You will get your tickets.....don't worry. They also disclose this when you purchase them...so it should come as no suprise that you will not get them until a week or 2 before the show. I understand the nervous energy and all...I like having my tickets in my hand well in advance....but this is how they work...and have worked for the last 4 tours. Bottom line is you will get them.
  20. One of my fav's from Snakes and Arrows.
  21. No way too young. However I am taking my 5 1/2 year old this October. Now my son is playing drums (has been since 2 years old) we play along to Rush DVD's weekly...he loves music and playing music. He will wear earplugs no doubt. There is a big difference between 5 1/2 years old and a 3 year old...huge difference in fact. Will he remember it years and years after....probably not...but he will talk about this for a while...no doubt. He has a great vivid memory for a kid his age. Every child is different. My son has been raised since birth on the music of Rush....he walks around singing and humming their tunes all the time. I know he will have a great time...will it be a slight pain in the ass? Yeah it probably will, I will have to hold him up sometimes (he is light as a feather) and he will probably get real tired after an hour and half in (he is in bed no later than 8:00 - 8:15 every night). But I am feeling good about taking him...he has been asking to go and is very excited for it....and I told him if he gets tired...he sit's in his chair and closes his eyes...and he said he will (my kid will do it that I have little doubt about) I told him we are not leaving till it's over.....unless of course he goes nuts (which I seriously doubt he will). But I would not try to take a typical 5 year old unless they have been raised on Rock like my son. And he will be 6 1/2 when they roll around in 2011....so this is a nice litmus to see if it is a good idea...and if not...he stays home in 2011. I have seen Rush so many times I am willing to take the risk for this one show (I am seeing them the night before in Tampa so I will get in one show without my son).
  22. QUOTE (Pause Rewind Replay @ Jun 12 2010, 11:38 PM) QUOTE (rsmintzberg @ Jun 12 2010, 10:05 PM) I'm not saying these are not good songs, I'm just saying I'd prefer to hear other songs not played in a while or never played rather than the following. Bravado Ghost of a Chance Spindrift Analog Kid Digital Man Roll The Bones One Little Victory The Pass Let the debates begin. Well Bravado, RTB, AK and The Pass weren't played on the S&A tours, so you haven't seen any of them for at least 6 years Anyway: songs I don't want to hear (whether they've been played recently, or at all) Spindrift (we agree on that one ) Entre Nous (once was enough) Losing It (great song, but it would depress me for the next 1/2 hour of the show) In The End Rivendell I Think I'm Going Bald Necromancer Fountain of Lamneth Tears Madrigal Afterimage Tai Shan Heresy The Color Of Right Half The World Secret Touch (was happy that was dropped in '08) The Necromancer and Afterimage are 2 songs every hard core fan would love to hear. Except maybe you.
