  1. I don't think that would happen, I'm pretty sure he recorded that song with a 5-string Wal. If I remember correctly the only one where he used the 5 string is on Lock And Key... I'll be honest, I don't know. I remember he used a wal on the album but I never remember hearring a 5. I knew he had one, but I didn't know he used it on record. I was never a fan of the wal sound.
  2. I received Power Windows for Christmas in 1985. I was in 8th grade. I believe that was my only Rush themed Christmas present. I already had mp, pew, h, and e...sl.
  3. I cannot believe my ABBA loving mind loves this album as much as I do. Are you going to review it on the thread? :D It is all 15. I would agree that it is a 10/10 or 15/15 on the other scale. I like ABBA too.
  4. I don't think that would happen, I'm pretty sure he recorded that song with a 5-string Wal. Yes he probably did, but live he could do it on the Jazz.
  5. I chose Open Secrets but Prime Mover and Second Nature are great too. This is a fantastic record
  6. I am going to pull this out again this week. Fantastic record. Side two is excellent!
  7. One of the greatest lead guitar tones.
  8. If you look at the theme of the live releases there is always something new in the set list to keep the DVDs/bluray releases interesting. Who knows what the next tour will bring?
  9. Necromancer has been one of my favorite tunes from early Rush. Once upon a time I would have wanted nothing more than to see them do this live. They have changed direction to the point that I can't picture them playing it. I would still welcome part or all of it though. We're I a betting man I would have to be against it though.
  10. You know I have heard the "this could be their last tour" rumors since Hold Your Fire, so I will play along hoping that there will be another tour. Realistically I think they will do something like yyz. I would think Oveture/Grand Finale would be great as well. An instrumental medley would be great too.
  11. Feeling that way/Anytime is a fantastic tune. I always find these polls interesting. I imagine the members of the bands in a fighting cage. Looking at the members of each band it's difficult to tell who would win. Toughest looking guy would be Steve Smith, unless it was the Ansley Dunbar era...Alex looks like he could hold his own.
  12. It took me a long time to warm up to the last two songs. I would love to hear more off this live. High Water has a great percolating groove. I would love to hear this tune with the Fender Jazz.
  13. Distant Early Warning...9 Afterimage...10 Red Sector A...9 The Enemy Within...9 The Body Electric...9 Kid Gloves...9 Red Lenses...9 Between the Wheels...10+ This album is rather special to me because it was the first "new Rush" I remember coming out. DEW was announced and played on the radio and later on Mtv. This album takes me back to junior high and I can still stare at the cover for hours. BTW has long been my favorite off this record closely followed by Afterimage.
  14. Used to do homework in high school to Tales. There is something about that album that just sounds right to me. I put the whole thing on during a long drive at the beginning of this month. It never grows old.
  15. I love Hold Your Fire. As a bass player I find this album to have Geddy's most imaginative bass lines.
  16. This is my least favorite album with only one track that I like...Bravado Every so often I put this record on so that I can give it another try to see if time allows for any change in perspective. Unfortunately, there is no change. I can't stand most of it, care little for some of it, and like one tune. If they were to switch Superconductor for Bravado, Presto would rise on my list of favorites and Roll the Bones would gather dust.
  17. This is a great record...near flawless. Middletown Dreams Territories Emotion Detector Mystic Rhythms The Big Money Grand Designs Manhattan Project Marathon
  18. Regarding Tormato...each time Yes releases a new album Tormato gets better.
  19. 1982. I heard New World Man on the Radio and loved it. A few days or so later I heard Tom Sawyer and thought it was on the same record. Yes...I said record. My friend got a copy (Maxell tape...some of you will remember those) and we went into his finished basement to listen to it. His sister, who was in high school, came in and said, "That's good, but if you want to hear a real rush album try this." She handed us Permanent Waves. This was the first album I heard all the way through. We eventually listened to the rest of Signals, but not until getting through PeW twice.
  20. Wow, 20 years. I remember buying this the day it came out. I was in grad school and had to search out a record store because I had only been there for about a month. Later that year, I caught them in Rochester with Candlebox. Candlebox played a bit of Working Man and Geddy sang the first verse off stage. During the show, Alex started the song again and Neil just folded his arms. I remember that the dynamic on stage was off. It was the end of the North American tour and they seemed like they had enough of each other. This was the last record until Clockwork Angels that I enjoyed all the way through.
