  1. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Mar 15 2011, 11:19 AM) Black Sabbath - Supernaut also Into The Void, and about 25 other songs by Sabbath. Space Truckin' by DP.
  2. I bought about 80 vinyl Lp's today (about 250 the last 3 days), all for a $1 each.
  3. ...I'm still hopelessly addicted to vinyl right now with no cure in sight..... maybe if I gauge out my eardrums with a ballpeen hammer or some various garden tool I will no longer feel the need to feed my addiction.
  4. listening to the Red Album 1962-1966 on vinyl. Pristine condition, sounds phenominal. Paul's bass is just hynotizing. "He's a reeeaal Nowhere Man, sitting in his nowhere land, making all his nowhere plans, for nobody..." grab the bass knob and turn it up, it comes in right.....here^^^^^ nobody has since equaled this greatness.
  5. I can tell by most of the posts here including mine that "Kilroy Was Here" is usually relegated to the worst of Styx's awesome catalog. It doesnt totally suck but it is probably up there with ELP's "Love Beach" as biggest misstep in a band's career.
  6. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Mar 2 2011, 03:10 PM) This and Fire of Unknown Origin are my favorites. I was on a BOC kick last week. my faves too. I just got done playing "Fire" on vinyl. such a terrific album.
  7. I'm a big Styx fan, I love all their stuff from the beginning up to Paradise Theater. I got back into them big time around 5 years ago, and rcently found the vinyl LP's of Equinox, Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight, Cornerstone, Paradise Theater, and the live double album Caught In The Act.
  8. I hate modern music, and the modern music industry as a whole.
  9. I thought this was for the albums, which I too voted for "Sgt. Pepper". I see now it is for the movies. If I could change my vote now, it would be for the movie "Tommy". I've always loved Ann-Margret. I true natural beauty. The "Sgt. Pepper" movie is one of the worst movies ever made.
  10. I'm on a huge DP kick lately after recently finding on vinyl....Burn, Made In Europe, and Perfect Strangers. I cant stop listening to the bootlegs from '70-'74. Tommy Bolin is/was great but I just can't listen to the old songs unless Blackmore is playin'.
  11. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Feb 19 2011, 01:33 PM) Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Fly By Night, and Working Man is about it. these and also Closer To The Heart and Subdivisions. Same 6 or 7, never any variation. Just once I'd like to hear something else like possibly The Trees or Analog Kid.
  12. QUOTE (WIDE-ANGLE WATCHER @ Feb 17 2011, 11:33 PM) I have Mahogany Rush IV on vinyl and have recently upgraded my turn table so I just listened to it a few days ago. Frank Marino is an amazing guitarist the last 6 months Ive obtained about 4 or 5 albums on vinyl by MR. I'm not that familiar with their catalog but I like it more and more every time I give 'em a spin.
  13. best band ever? that's a tough call, but in my opinion they have 6 or 7 of the top maybe 30 or so albums in history. Those 6 or 7 I would argue all day long as better than almost anything you can put up against 'em. The '75-'81 Rush is maybe my favorite catalog by any band. But there are some truly great bands that have graced this world.
  14. I am addicted to vinyl. don't care if I ever hear another cd ever again....well, at least until I get in my car. Gotta be a way I can get my turntable to play in my car.
  15. QUOTE (tick @ Feb 9 2011, 07:49 AM) Mike Portnoys Beatles tribute featuring Neal Morse and Paul Gilbert I like this band. Aren't they called Yellow Matter Custard?
  16. QUOTE (summer_sky @ Feb 1 2011, 07:22 PM) QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Feb 1 2011, 07:18 PM) The old 70's and 80's rock-n-roll soundtracks. "Heavy Metal" remains one of my faves alltime. I just found the "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" LP at a store lately. Fast Times... what a great movie, dude! Now every time I hear that The Cars song (can't think of the name, right now) I think of the swimming pool/bathroom fantasy scene. lol Moving In Stereo. Yeah, I think of that scene too

  18. A month ago, I'd say anything from the Beatles mid 60's. Today, maybe Judas Priest Stained Class. Tomorrow, probably something like Metallica's RTL or Queen's News Of The World (I just picked up both today on vinyl, so I will be enjoying them tomorrow ). My top 500 of all time stay relatively unchanged, but my faves at the moment fluctuate like anybody else would. I go through phases of diving hardcore into a band's entire catalog, and then giving them a break for a while, although I can't seem to stop listening to The Beatles the last 6 months or so.
  19. I have a newfound respect for John Rutsey after seeing the Rush Documentary.
  20. Pre-Rush? They were one of the first bands I ever heard back in '76 when I was introduced to rock music and vinyl LP's so the only music I heard prior to Rush was probably AM and FM radio, i.e. Beatles, Stones, etc...
  21. well, ya had me until the American Idol part.
  22. QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Jun 19 2005, 06:56 PM) I love country music, well most of it. Only after I opened my ears and gave it a chance did I realize that some of the best songwriters and musicians are country artists. I would much rather listen to country that almost ANY of the new rock crap out there! I agree on both of those. What boggles my mind is how some old school rock fans who like Lynyrd Skynrd and Allman Brothers Band and hate country music. It's like hating Strawberry ice cream but liking Neopolitan ice cream.
  23. I love how rock music transcends just "rocking out" and it becomes a part of our lives and touches our souls in ways most people wouldnt understand. Live for the music. ....and also reflect on those who have shaped our lives who are no longer with us.
