  1. QUOTE (bigalfan @ Jun 24 2010, 10:24 AM) I just don't see what Score or FOH would have to gain by being so assured of what they know if it's wrong/false. Logically, that dog don't hunt. So, why don't they just post the entire setlist? 1. They may not know the entire setlist and only know generally what to 'expect' - i.e., the amount of songs to be played from S&A, for instance. 2. Even if they do know the setlist, song-for-song, if you were the source of their info and found out they posted a song-for-song setlist in an online forum for the WORLD to view before the tour, would you ever trust them with tour information again? I wouldn't. Logically, that dog does hunt! Why even mention it then? "Hey everybody on the Rush Forum! I know Rush's ENTIRE setlist, yet I can't tell anyone so don't ask for details! It's a secret, and I'd get killed if they found out I leaked it. But I just wanted everyone to know that I know it!" See why it's annoying?
  2. Where the hell are people getting Superconductor from? It was only mentioned in a random post in that other thread, has it actually been mentioned by a band member? If they do play it, for the love of God, why did it have to be Superconductor when you have gems like Presto, Chain Lightning, and Available Light on the same album unplayed live???????
  3. QUOTE (tangy @ Jun 22 2010, 10:04 AM) WTF? I am poking around at the porcupine tree forum and people are posting that the dates have been taken down from PT.com. Sure enough, I go there and there is no longer info about this tour? Maybe its a technical glitch but I am worried. yikes. That's not a good sign. Hopefully it wasn't announced prematurely (or maybe they're adding more dates! )
  4. QUOTE (Natch @ Jun 22 2010, 09:22 AM) QUOTE (GrandDesigner @ Jun 22 2010, 07:23 AM) The fact that this isn't coming within 200 miles of where I live is akin to a musical version of "f**k you", the likes of which I haven't seen since Megadeth's RIP tour completely skipped here as well. At least we get to see PT at Radio City in September... You DID get tickets, didn't you??? I did NOT as a matter of fact... (I have to be very picky about what concerts I see, and this one just happened to have 3 bands I absolutely LOVE) I mean, it's Philly for God's sake, it's not like I live in Maine or something

  6. The lamest and cheesiest this band ever got, alongside Neurotica, You Bet Your Life, Second Nature, and The Speed Of Love
  7. QUOTE (Hemispheres89 @ Jun 17 2010, 10:31 PM) QUOTE (mazyyz @ Jun 17 2010, 08:48 PM) Looks like the last pic dispells the rumor that Camera Eye will start the second set. How so? I fail to see your logic there Usually when a band makes a setlist, they notate breaks/pauses and especially intermissions. The fact that there's a list of songs with no lines denoting breaks gives the appearance of there being no break after Limelight. I agree it's not conclusive, it could just be a list of songs.
  8. Unfortunately I think those two songs will forever remain in 1982. Losing It I could see them wanting to do (especially now), but obviously the violin plays way too important a part to just be relegated to a backing track. Chemistry is just too unimportant a song to play 30 years later. Yeah it's cool, but it's probably one of their most underwhelming songs of the 80's and probably hasn't ever been thought of since they dropped it mid-Signals tour.
  9. QUOTE (quickfree @ Jun 14 2010, 06:18 PM) Wonder if they'll actually play it. It is a very relevant song and ties in well with the overall theme. I highly doubt it... Geddy's thoughts...
  10. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Jun 14 2010, 05:25 AM) Don't listen to the In Absentia bumboys! It won't get better with every listen - that boring middle of the album will always be boring no matter how many times you listen to it! I usually turn the album off after Trains. On a serious note, I've never, ever understood why IA gets the adoration it does. It has no cinematic quality to it - a quality injected into every other PT album, the music sounds lifeless, almost PT by numbers. And the overall sound is just so compressed and blergh. It's a complete shame because the lyrics and theme are very good. If you want some good IA era music, check out the Futile EP. I disagree completely. In Absentia, to me, is their most cinematic. This is one of the few albums where the lyrics really add to my enjoyment (or perversion) to the album. It's a very dark, industrial, and psychotic album so to speak, dealing with a serial killer. The album was hit or miss with me when I first started listening to it, but it grew BIG TIME and I'd probably place it at (or near) number 1 for my top albums ever. Trains, Lips Of Ashes, Heartattack In A Layby, and Collapse The Light Into Earth are all beautiful tracks and worth listening to more until they sink in. It's not an easy listen as I think it needs to be listened to in the right context (sunny, happy days do not "work" with this album, ya know?), but I hope it hits you eventually.
  11. QUOTE (Pause Rewind Replay @ Jun 13 2010, 11:24 AM) Eh? 7 of the songs you're complaining about as being part of "every goddamn set" Red Sector A The Big Money Force Ten Show Don't Tell Bravado Roll The Bones Earthshine weren't even played on either S&A tour... thanks for paying attention If you just don't like them, fine. But they've hardly been automatic plays. Yeah, these songs are all rarities... Why play The Big Money and Force Ten ENDLESSLY, while masterpieces like Marathon or Time Stand Still get ignored even though fans LOVE them?
  12. There was a thread like this just recently I'm just tired of the usual The Trees Freewill YYZ Subdivisions Distant Early Warning Red Sector A The Big Money Force Ten Show Don't Tell Dreamline Bravado Roll The Bones Earthshine that make up 50% of EVERY GODDAMN SET!!!! Seriously, if they just substituted one other song from each album instead of those (mostly) everyone would probably be thrilled
  13. I personally don't understand all the Rush comparisons either. They begin and end with just having a high-pitched vocalist. Claudio (or at least earlier Claudio) does sound like a mix between Geddy Lee, Michael Jackson, and Billy Corgan. YotBR is kicking my ass!!! Easily my 2nd favorite album by them behind IKS. Far and Pearl Of The Stars are stronger ballads than they've ever had before. I wished they'd end the album on a higher note though, they've done droning final tracks for 3 albums now.
  14. I don't necessarily think these are impossible, but surely would be overwhelmingly unexpected Grand Designs Emotion Detector Chain Lightning Available Light Before & After
  15. Great post! I'm also a huge fan of setlists and analyzing them to death. It's amazing how many songs get left behind after an album's tour is done.
  16. QUOTE (Joshua @ Jun 7 2010, 09:39 PM) Far Cry The Analog Kid Time Stand Still The Pass Driven Caravan BU2B Vapor Trails A Farewell To Kings Jacob's Ladder Marathon --------------------- Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight The Camera Eye Witch Hunt Vital Signs Subdivisions Leave That Thing Alone Drum Solo Bastille Day 2112 Overture/The Temples Of Syrinx/Grand Finale ---------------------- The Spirit Of Radio Freewill Closer To The Heart Probably the most realistic one so far. A little too many obvious choices, but still damn good. Marathon and Time Stands Still are essential for this tour!
  17. The Enemy Within! Criminally underrated track and it only managed to survive for just the p/g tour. Just please, NO DISTANT EARLY WARNING OR RED SECTOR A!!!
  18. I truly do see them opening with TSOR. I think they've been breaking a lot of their past traditions lately and this tour seems to be breaking more than most (TCE, all of MP, rare songs, etc) so it's not unlikely to see their track record not factor into their song choices for this tour. Not to mention that Rush has suddenly become somewhat of a popular band amongst non-hardcore fans and besides TS, TSOR is their next biggest song that most non-hardcore fans would know.
  19. In The End Bastille Day Before & After
  20. QUOTE (Hemispheres89 @ Jun 3 2010, 12:57 PM) MEGADETH!!! I'm going to be seeing them this summer, they are playing alongside Slayer. Are you going to that show as well? For me, it's a week and a half after Rush!! I wish I was seeing them! They completely skipped over Philly on the RiP2010 tour, and buying tickets for them/Slayer is just something I can't afford right now.
  21. Closer To The Heart. Not a huge fan of the other songs on this album, and for some reason I've been really into this one lately.
  22. THE WEAPON Or Chemistry, that song's grown on me BIG TIME
  23. QUOTE (test4eggroll @ May 31 2010, 01:34 PM) grand designs is probably the best tune they ever wrote. Agreed!
  24. Do Yes's 'Madrigal', followed by their 'Madrigal' for the encore. Would totally tear the roof off...!
