  1. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 9 2010, 04:05 PM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Apr 9 2010, 03:54 PM) I'll play too, but I'm going to be REALISTIC. I'd like to hear: 2112 (PW tour version, opening up the show) By-Tor into a FULL Xanadu In the End The Weapon The Analog Kid Kid Gloves Afterimage Jacob's Ladder Lakeside Park In regards to what they consider/choose to be the "time machine" part of the show, I DONT want to hear anything past Grace. I think the only way you hear Lakeside Park live is to put on ATWAS Ha touche! I know its a long shot, but the reason I listed it is I think "possibly" Geddy can still sing it. Unlike same-era songs like Anthem...The others I think are real possibilities, some likely...

  3. QUOTE (Show Don't Tell @ Apr 9 2010, 02:05 PM) QUOTE (rushfanNlv @ Apr 9 2010, 03:33 AM) I'd like to see Alex and Geddy play the old guitars again for the Moving Pictures stuff. I didn't like the fact that Alex used a Les Paul for EVERYTHING on the last tour. There are just some songs that require the lighter, brighter sound of a strat or even a PRS. Mission is a perfect example. I say bring out the old Hentors and the Rics for this portion of the show. Agreed! Bring back the Strats! I'd love to see Alex bring back his black Strat -- that would maybe mean more SIGNALS stuff!!!
  4. I'd love to see that show, not only bc its Toronto, but because its an indoor arena, which is far better than any shed.
  5. PNC is a solid shed/outdoor venue. Good sound, and you'll get a fun, enthusiastic NY area crowd. Its off a major NJ parkway, so I think youll be ok getting a motel in one of the surrounding burbs. Not a bad choice, but if you're coming from across the pond, you may want to explore options with better extracurricular activities (ie. somewhere closer to a city).
  6. Fun. Here goes: 2112 Cygnus X-1 Xanadu Necromancer La Villa By-Tor Lamneth Hemispheres Camera Eye Natural Science
  7. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Apr 9 2010, 11:07 AM) Oh it's going to be AWESOME man, I agree. But as for the best ever I think that already happened: 2112 Freewill By-Tor And The Snow Dog Xanadu The Spirit Of Radio Natural Science A Passage To Bangkok The Trees Cygnus X-1: Book I: The Voyage Cygsnu X-1: Book II: Hemispheres Closer To The Heart Beneath, Between And Behind Jacob's Ladder Working Man Finding My Way Anthem Bastille Day In The Mood Drum Solo Encore: La Villa Strangiato This was the Permanent Waves tour setlist, and Geddy with his awesome 1980 voice still in top shape! Without a doubt the best Rush setlist EVER. The second best is the Signals tour. Has there been a poll on best setlist ever? If not, we should have one!
  8. QUOTE (laxnation @ Apr 9 2010, 02:28 PM) QUOTE (rushfan4life @ Apr 8 2010, 11:14 PM) So as thrilled as I am about the tour, I cant stand the fact they keep playing Jones Beach in NY. Theres too many elements that can lead to a crappy sound night. Thats why Im really hoping they add an indoor date in the NY area, whether it be MSG or Radio City. Last time they hit radio city was for the R30 tour, so maybe they go there this time? Theres 10 days between the 3rd and 14th of September where there are no shows, so Im thinking maybe one could be added then like during the S&A tour? Anyone have any ideas? Actually, the last time they played at Radio City, the sound was probably the worst I have ever heard and I have been to over 200 concerts in the 20 years. MSG is maybe the most over-rated venue on the planet! I couldnt disagree with you more on MSG, but to each his own I guess...
  9. I'm going to go with one, solid show this time, and I'll be waiting almost till the end -- Sept 18 in the DC area
  10. It certainly can be ONE of their best tours ever. Getting all of MP, which the rarely played camera eye and vital signs, a couple of new tunes, and a bunch of rarely-played classics (remember this is the Time Machine tour, not the Moving Pictures live tour), can end up in one of their best setlists in years.
  11. QUOTE (GotRush @ Apr 8 2010, 06:17 PM) My Guess Would Be MP in order, finishing the 1st set . . Yep, this is whats going to happen.
  12. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Apr 8 2010, 04:07 PM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 03:48 PM) QUOTE (Zanadoo @ Apr 8 2010, 03:46 PM) QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Apr 8 2010, 03:43 PM) The more I think about it, MP in it's entirety isn't all that special. In the last 8 years they've played every song except TCE anyway. But yes, TCE will be epic. but all of them played together is really something special. This can certainly be true. For example, I saw Springsteen do Born to Run in its entirety last year. Of course, we heard most of those songs, like Thunder Road, Jungleland, BTR, etc, ad nauseum over the years. But to hear them in sequence, and subsequently have flashbacks of listening to the original album years ago, was a different and special experience. It can be the same this summer with MP. Oh, and we're getting CAMERA EYE. please don't mention springsteen in this forum ever again. thanks. Come ON, its the Boss!
  13. QUOTE (rushfr:CP @ Apr 8 2010, 03:29 PM) TCE Jacobs Ladder In the End Thats all i need. Add The Weapon and Im with you 100%

  15. AMEN, thanks for the announcement. While I always caved in the past, I'm going to really try to steer clear of any setlist information this time around, and will be extra careful on the board this summer.
  16. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 11:24 AM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 11:14 AM) QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 11:12 AM) QUOTE (Der Trommler @ Apr 8 2010, 11:03 AM) Here's a thought and just a thought. Didn't Rush used to sneak in songs they were working on for a new album while on the road? I can swear I remember them playing a song from the next album that they were working on in the studio to get a reaction. What if that's part of the Time Machine Mentality? Or, could break out the old Tama's and get all those synths and double neck guitars.....Then there's the kimono's and ah, I'm thinking too much into this. I like the new way they play just the same as the old. I'm curious though about what the rest of the setlist is going to comrpise of..... DT! I was also just thinking, what if it wasn't only the setlist that was sent through the TIME MACHINE. How about crazy vintage nostalgia all about. How about introducing The Trees with BROON'S BANE?! I know they are going to play Jacob's Ladder, I can feel it in my bones, but what about that awesome sweet little acoustic guitar intro bit like Alex did on Exit Stage Left? How about the big screen and special effects etc? Maybe bring back the COUNT FLOYD video from Grace Under Pressure Tour as intro to "The Weapon" or the Giant Presto Rabbit or the Nuts 'n Bolts concert intro from Counterparts. Man there are piles and piles of stuff they can do with this theme! How about NINETEEN SEVENTIES BEER PRICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they brought back the Count Floyd video and played the Weapon, I'd pass out right then and there. Me too, that'd be phenominal... You're a huge Rush tour veteran, when they played it back on that tour was it REALLY in 3D or just a joke for filming it? You know 3D is making such a huge comeback... just sayin! Maybe we'll see this beauty in our time machine adventure! That was my first rush show ever, at madison square garden. There were no 3-D glasses. It was hysterical, with Alex dancing and all. Its a tremendous song.

  18. QUOTE (Der Trommler @ Apr 8 2010, 10:56 AM) QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 8 2010, 08:42 AM) Hey, question here as I'm too lazy to go look - has "Chemistry" ever been done live? I'm thinking not. . . Yes...recently, I believe...R30? Last (and only) time was the New World Tour, 1982
  19. It is an easy cash in for them though. weak. MP in its entirety is weak?! Huh?! What?!! I mean,...what?!!! Would you rather have them play Rivendell, Anagram for Mongo, Dog Years, and You Bet Your Life and probably NOT make not as much dough? MP has always been well represented in the set lists since its release. I guess I am getting old but when I heard "time machine" I was hoping for some really old tunes. Don't assume that Time Machine means Moving Pictures. I think many will be shocked by the predominance of "classics" this tour. I'd bet we also get Xanadu, Jacob's Ladder, Natural Science, La Villa, etc. No assumptions being made about MP - it's announced on Rush.com! I meant don't assume Time Machine only refers to Moving Pictures. It wouldn't be that great of a time machine if it only traveled to one particular year! PRECISELY. With the title of the tour being Time Machine, theres no way it only refers to MP. Further, with the exception of one, maybe 2 songs, MP is largely made up of huge hits, not old gems. There are going to be some sweet surprises for sure.
  20. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 08:11 AM) This tour is going to be incredible. MP in its entirety makes total sense, because that's what a lot of bands these days are doing, they already play all of side 1 every tour anyway, Witch Hunt sounded great in 07 and 08, and Vital Signs is always good live...plus the fans have been wanting TCE forever so that will be a huge selling point for diehards. The only question mark for me is that they have said many times in recent years that they always rehearse TCE and don't enjoy playing it live. Maybe they've had a change of opinion, but I don't know. Good points. MP does makes a ton of sense, not only because of its popularity, but because it satisfies the casual fans with the hits and the die hards with TCE and Vital Signs. And remember all, there's only 7 songs on MP. There will be a ton of setlist space for other classics like Jacob, which Im completely convinced we'll be getting as well.
  21. QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 8 2010, 08:05 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 8 2010, 09:02 AM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 07:45 AM) ^^^^^^ They last played Chemistry on the New World Tour, 1982. Maybe its time to bring it back? We can only hope... God, I am getting old. That was my first Rush tour (1982), and I don't even remember much off of the setlist. My first tour as well.... we are getting old! And....this will be the first time since that tour we'll be getting Camera Eye - nice!

  23. QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ Apr 7 2010, 10:23 AM) Here's my version of their perfect set for the upcoming tour; a balance of what they should play, what they will play, and what I want them to play, while trying to stay grounded to reality... 2112-Overture & Temples Of Syrinx Manhattan Project Digital Man Earthshine Armor & Sword Far Cry (New Song) Jacob's Ladder Sprit Of Radio Hemispheres (entirety) -intermission- Camera Eye Anthem Time Stand Still Marathon (New Song) The Main Monkey Business The Rythm Method The Enemy Within Something For Nothing Limelight Xanadu La Villa Strangiato Bastille Day -encore- Tom Sawyer Working Man I hope you are right on the 2112 opener, that would be truly mind-blowing, and I'd like to see them do a little more, like what they did on the 1980 tour. There's no way we get Hemispheres in its entirety. The best to realistically hope for is Prelude. I do think we'll get an abridged version of TCE. They'll be throwing all of us a bone there, same with Jacob. These will be the rarities Alex alluded to.... Instead of Digital Man, the Weapon will be this year's Signals gem to make the setlist. If we dont get a full Xanadu, I dont want one at all. Finally, I think we'll get In the End as part of the encore.
  24. I cant wait for it either! It looks fantastic!
