  1. QUOTE (hazlnut @ May 28 2010, 08:30 AM) Per the CBC interview we already know there will be one song from Test For Echo. I for one would be happy if that was the ONLY song from the 1990's. Ironically, the album that led into the 1990's was HOLD YOUR FIRE -- a commentary on the artists struggle to continue to produce meaningful material... Perhaps NP sensed the coming decade of Rush muzak. Hold some fire, indeed: First, the Presto bunnies. (yeah, I know Presto was Nov. 1998--close enough) Followed by that hip-hop skeleton, dancing and rapping his way into our collective cringe... And then came....the other two I never bought. I think one had nuts&bolts and other had a pile of rocks. Look people, don't be hatin', but I remember Alex describing the feeling they want people to have when they hear their songs-- A physical emotional reaction to hard rock music. I don't get that with the songs produced 1989-1996. Interesting music, thought-provoking lyrics, no doubt. But no rush. No impulse to jump out of my seat and scream, cheer, clap to the beat and play air instruments... Maybe I need to give them an honest listen. But that skeleton just creeps me out--Douche Chills. Anyway... I'd be happy with a concentration of songs from the golden years '75-'85 + the rebirth years, 2002-onward... Anyone else? I'm with you overall here, though I'd say golden years 74-84, and 2002-onward. However, it wouldnt bother me if they played some counterparts for good measure.
  2. Absolutely, undeniably, Middletown Dreams.
  3. Not one of my favorite albums by a long shot, but Open Secrets is a very good tune. If they playing anything from this album, Id want to hear this one.
  4. Perpetual Change by far for me. Love that tune.
  5. The crappy period is from Hold your Fire through Roll The Bones. PERIOD.
  6. Easy. Cut to the Chase kicks ass. If they play anything from this album, this should be it.
  7. Doubt it will ever happen, but if they played Lessons I'd completely flip out. I actually think they can possibly play I Think Im Going Bald. The last few years they've been pretty damn humorous and have made fun of themselves. I can see them doing it in light of the time machine theme. I also think Open Secrets and Cut to the Chase are good bets.

    Rush Radio

    Rush Radio is very good.
  9. QUOTE (losingit2k @ May 21 2010, 10:16 PM) I saw this line up and even though it wasn't the original it was pretty good! The set list was great as was the show! The new guy really does a great job on vocals. However I can't say the same for Rick's son! he is good but not good enough to be in yes! Bring back anyone else or go out and get Jordan Rudes from Dream Theater! He would make a great addition to the group! it was really great to hear: Onward Tempus Fugit and Machine Messiah It was great to hear those songs, and the new singer did a fine job (esp on Onward), but I was disappointed over all with the show. They played sloppy and cut the setlist by two songs by the time I saw them, and it definitely seemed like they were mailing it in. Wont be seeing Yes again anytime soon.
  10. Dont think it will happen as theres no Ben Mink to play electric violin, but I absolutely love the song and think its the most underrated of their entire catalogue.
  11. OLD!!!! But I *am* looking forward to hearing the new stuff.
  12. QUOTE (Tigershark2112 @ May 14 2010, 04:30 PM) I'm just saying, I can like David Gilmour if I want. I shouldn't have to worry about people calling me ignorant or stupid due to my preference. I didn't realize that was tolerated around here. If you want to go see Roger Waters, then GREAT. I'm not going to hold you back or criticize you for that preference and while my initial statement was quite biased, I felt it was harmless as well. Some people just get too caught up in their own opinions and think everyone else should feel the same way they do. Yes, Roger Waters is a great musician (I guess its a 'FACT'... lol) but I was only saying I'd rather see Mr. Gilmour. I think he plays some amazing guitar. My apologies if I offended any Waters fans. Gotta tread lightly around here I guess... Nah, dont tread lightly, give it as good as you get it!
  13. QUOTE (The Sphere @ May 14 2010, 09:25 AM) I would think it will be a copper sparkle finish a la Time Machine stuff we've seen so far... I think you're right, but im still holding out hope for the MP or Signals kit, or at the very least the classic starman bass drum skins
  14. Revisiting the prospect of hearing The Weapon this tour: The more I think about this the more I think theres a great chance we get it considering the Time Machine theme of this tour. Think about it, if this is all about jumping back in time (and forward for a few tunes), Weapon is one of the few show presentations where there was an actual video (Floyd) that went along with it (and is beloved by fans). It would be a perfect "moment in history" that they can bring back, with alex dancing at the beginning and all. Plus its time to bring the song back regardless! Anyway...
  15. QUOTE (trenken @ May 14 2010, 08:52 AM) QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ May 14 2010, 12:23 AM) Obviously they can't because of the MP thing, but I still would say 'nay'. Two reasons. First, most people at the show wouldn't care or get it. Secondly, The Weapon and especially Freeze are inferior songs compared to much of Rush's catalog (or at least from those respective albums). Why are you assuming they are playing every song on MP consecutively? That would be a terrible decision on their part not to space that all out, just for the sake of those that may not love this album, and those people do exist believe it or not. I'm assuming this because every band that has played full albums has done it this way. Even the way the tour's been advertised, MP "in its entirety," suggests this will be a presentation of an album. Scattering songs around the set would reduce the impact of this. 99.9% chance they play it in sequence, IMO, and I hope they do.
  16. QUOTE (cygnus_thegodofbalance @ May 14 2010, 08:58 AM) Dark Side is actually my least favourite out of the fab 4. My order goes: Wish You Were Here The Wall Animals Dark Side of the Moon The first side of the album is class, yet the second half leaves way too much to be desired. Money is decent, yet it doesn't fit into the rest of the album's tone and theme. My Floyd fab four would be Animals, Wish, DSOTM, and Meddle.
  17. Nay for a few reasons: First, I think Freeze is way inferior to the other 3 and I dont want a setlist song wasted there, and Second, Witch Hunt needs to be played in sequence with the rest of Moving Pictures this tour. However, I would freak if we got The Weapon (and hopefully count floyd too), now that would be amazing (COMPLETELY disagree with the above post on that song).
  18. QUOTE (mazyyz @ May 13 2010, 10:24 PM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ May 13 2010, 11:18 PM) QUOTE (Chrysalii @ May 13 2010, 07:20 PM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ May 13 2010, 05:18 PM)QUOTE (Weatherman2112 @ May 13 2010, 05:15 PM) Let's see........ The whole band Rush, playing material that they wrote (and are still writing), most of it newer than the Wall, most of it BETTER than the Wall. vs 1 washed up guy from a band that hasn't put out any truly relevent music in more than a decade, maybe 2 decades, trying to cash in on past glory, an old album. I don't know. Let me think about this one. They actually havent put out anything relevant in over three decades... I liked The Division Bell...but that was a Watersless Floyd (and it came out in 1994) ... Amused to Death was really good (probably the best Roger Waters solo album), that came out in 1992...so almost 2 decades. In any event, I don't want to see Waters playing a whole Pink Floyd album unless the other members were there (with the absence of Rick Wright, R.I.P.). It can't be pulled off without the rest of the band. It would be like Alex Lifeson touring 2112 with himself and a touring band. As big a Pink Floyd fan as I am, I don't want to see it. I would go in an instant if he was doing Amused to Death with a few classic Pink Floyd songs thrown in, like Gilmour did with Gdnansk. Still, the theatrics will be top notch, it is a Pink Floyd style concert. I would say Rush, just because the experience isn't complete without the rest of the band. It doesn't matter how big of a wall they build for the show, but it would be hard to top the one in Berlin. If the remaining members of Pink Floyd joined with Roger, it would be huge (remember Live 8) Right, I was referring to a true Floyd album, ie. Animals.... Animals is a fan fav....nothing beats Dark Side though. Historically, one of the best rock albums ever produced. Agree that overall Dark Side is the masterpiece. But my personal favorite is Animals, cant get enough of that album! Favorite part of Roger's DSOTM tour was when he did Sheep.

  20. Earthshine is the only song from VT I'd be glad to hear.
