  1. I haven't read all the reviews... been a bit too busy these last few days but my overall thoughts about the DVD (not that anyone cares): Their playing is top notch. The guys chops are unbelievable. Guitar was nice and pronounced in the mix... I had no issue with the camera work.. kinda cool actually. Set list wasn't my fave, but that's ok. Having Neil's drums so lost in the mix was incredibly disappointing to me. I've listened to/watched a lot of live dvd's and somehow, most of them don't have the problems that I find on some Rush dvd's (and cd's). I just don't understand what the problem is. Maybe they should consider bringing in the guy who mixes/records Dave Matthews live DVD's. Love him or hate him, every member of the band sounds incredible on their dvd's.
  2. Love the album but what really strikes me is that while this is the 35th anniversary of Hemispheres, it's also the 28th anniversary of Power Windows. I'm blown away by the idea that these albums, and everything in between them, were only 7 years apart.
  3. I put a lot of stock in what Geddy says about the bands future. I haven't seen or heard him make any references to this though.... not that I can remember anyhow. Do you have a link to an interview or video?
  4. Such an incredible song. Leonard Cohen is quite the poet. KD's Lang's version is right up there.
  5. I met Ged and Al at the launch for Snakes and Arrows... both were really friendly. Alex a bit moreso. Geddy offered a big smile when I congratulated him on his sons upcoming wedding. That was pretty cool. I've met Al once on my own, as he was dining in the restaurant I was eating in. I waited until after he was done dinner, and his buddy had gone for a bathroom run.... it seemed like the least invasive way to say hello. He was the most gracious person I've ever met. Absolutely a delight. I'd be proud if my own kids turned out to be as kind as he is.
  6. "Don't Kill Pratt. It's not good for business"... Classic !
  7. Does the 4 count into Animate count?
  8. The longer we go without someone representing the band (or in the band themselves) confirming what Big Al has said, the less likely it is to happen.
  9. Agreed that if it were to happen, it'd have to be fall at the earliest, to give them a year off. I imagine Ray Danniels is all in favour for sure, but in the end, I just can't see Ged and Neil wanting to do it.
  10. I have to believe it's not happening in 2014. Ged's said as much. I know Big Al can get really enthusiastic, but after giving it some thought, I'm wondering if he was mis-quoted. It happens all the time. It's possible that he made reference to the band having given some consideration to some sort of scaled down mini tour, and it got quoted as " we're going to do it". Just sayin'........
  11. It's interesting that he again makes reference to Jacob's Ladder, and that "zillions" of fans want to hear it. Though I don't see them touring for their 40th, I'm starting to think that for their next tour, whenever that is, there's at least a chance that they'll consider playing JL.
  12. The interview was conducted just before the kick off of the European tour. I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't that around the same time that Ged said they definitely wouldn't be doing something to celebrate their 40th? I think that if Ged publicly says they're doing something for it, I'll believe it then.
  13. Just read the quote from Alex saying that they'll do some sort of special tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary and will play some of the songs that they haven't played in a very long time. http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/fireworks-07.2013.php At this point, I'm not so sure this will happen, but it makes for interesting speculative discussions nonetheless.... Have at it....
  14. I think t'll be quite a while before we hear much news from them at all. They really deserve and need a break.
  15. I met Ged and Alex at the radio premier of Snakes and Arrows at Q107 in Toronto. That was so cool. More recently, I met Alex at a restaurant in Toronto. He was 1 or 2 tables over, and despite my wife's insistence that I either send him and his dinner guest a bottle of wine, or I walk over to say hello, I respected his privacy. It was only at the end of the night, as his buddy excused himself for a few minutes, and Alex was sitting by himself, that I thought it might be appropriate just to say a quick hello, and thank him for all his great work. Not only was he gracious and polite by rock star standards, he was as polite as any person I've ever met. EXTREMELY genuine in conversation. I was struck how he was totally engaged, talking, sharing, looking me straight in the eye. The only other " celebrity " that I've been told that has that level of kindness to strangers is Arnold Palmer. I've heard stories told that when he meets people, fans etc, he looks straight at them, talks to them, and makes them feel like they're the only ones in the room. Al even suggested we take a pic (it's my profile pic here) and thanked me for stopping by his table to say hello. The truth is, I'd be proud if my son grew up to be as honorable with others as Al is.
  16. It's been nearly THIRSTY YEARS since Power Windows?? Oh MAN do I feel old!
  17. The internet serves nicely for those of us who's memories aren't what they once were. ;) Spirit of Radio on the signals tour in '82. And just for kicks, according to the web, the first song I heard live (not counting our nursery school version of Mary had a little lamb), was Grand Design by Styx in 79 :codger:
  18. During Prime Time sports, host (and CEO of Fadoo) Bob McCown talks about the DVD, and the fact that it's complete. The audio can be found on the June 12 podcast, from the 4 pm time slot, at about the 5 minute and 20 second mark. http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/prime-time-sports/
  19. According to Bob McCown, CEO of Fadoo, it was the band themselves who wanted the trailer taken down. If that's the case, I'd be kind of surprised, Wouldn't the trailer provide a boost to ticket sales to upcoming shows?

    RUSH Tattoo's

I'm with Fridge on this one. For me, when I'm buried, I want to be buried without any markings that I didn't have when I was born.

  22. Yeah, visually, it seems super clean and crisp.
  23. Looks like the Video Police are on to us!! Either the video police, or the grammar police? ( In over 40 years, Rush has only performed as a trio). To me, that reads in an awkward way.Should it be " For over 40 years, Rush has only performed as a trio..... )? Maybe some editors can pipe in here? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
