  1. I almost didnt make it through the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (but I am glad I did, since it is now one of my favorite movies). The one I had the hardest with though was called Cannibal from 2005. I believe it was a straight to video release, based on the lives of the real life cannibals from Germany that participated in consensual cannibalism in the early 2000's (don't remember when exactly). But the film did not shy away from anything, never sugar coated anything or turned the camera away. It actually made me nauseous.
  2. I dont understand why so many people liked this movie. I hated it, I couldnt watch the whole thing. That narration was one of the most irritating things I've ever experienced in a movie. Talk about being spoon-fed. Most of the things in the narration were either obvious or could have been easily established with a simple conversation or better character development. I felt it was lazy and demeaning.

I love that show but I was actually a little disappointed, I felt it was one of their weaker episodes. It had its moments and even when its not a the top of its game (in my opinion) its still better than most of the stuff on tv. Definitely not one of their better episodes; I was a little disappointed, too. I think it was mostly an excuse to get the gang together with Summer Glau, who actually didn't have much to do. Sheldon's enthusiasm for antiquated railways seemed out-of-character, although a fear of flying would make sense. Pretty dull overall. When the best part was Sheldon trying to teach Penny how to open the Japanese lockbox, you know it was a bad episode. My favorite line last night came early, when Penny let Leonard borrow her small pink suitcase: LEONARD: Thanks, Penny, this is perfect. WALOWITZ: ... for carrying daffodils to your unicorn. I thought the bit with Penny finding Sheldons box of letters from his "me-ma" addressed to "Moonpie" was pretty funny. Leonard: "I dont know what you are doing but little bubbles are forming at the corners of Sheldon's mouth."
  4. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Mar 10 2009, 03:34 AM) YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite show! The only night of television I MUST see. I immediately liked the show when it was a summer replacement two years ago, even though they kept re-playing the same six episodes. It quickly became my FAVORITE show, replacing lead-in How I Met Your Mother. Yep, I've got the Season One DVD, too. Sheldon, in the words of a friend, is perhaps the best character on TV right now. But Wolowitz is up there, too! For the uninitiated: four CalTech physics geeks have their life of Klingon Boggle games and inside jokes about the Born-Oppenheimer Effect turned upside-down when an attractive and socially-mobile girl from the midwest moves in across the hall. A typical exchange: PENNY: I always say "When one door closes, another one opens." SHELDON: No it doesn't. Not unless they're hooked-up by relays or there are motion sensors involved. Or if the closing of the first door creates a pressure system which acts upon the second door. PENNY: Forget it. Should appeal to Rush fans, who are also pseudo-geeky. Haha awesome! Glad I'm not the only one! I adore Sheldon- I would kill to have a close friend/roommate like that. My husband has actually nicknamed me "Shelly" because I actually share many (if not most of) of Sheldons neurotic behaviors. I even dont drive like him, because of an intense phobia. So its fun to see a character on tv I can relate to. What did you think of last nights episode? I love that show but I was actually a little disappointed, I felt it was one of their weaker episodes. It had its moments and even when its not a the top of its game (in my opinion) its still better than most of the stuff on tv.
  5. Sorry if a thread like this has already been posted but I was curious if anyone else here likes this show? I usually cant stand sitcoms but I love this one. Smart and funny, and Sheldon cracks me up- one of the best comedic characters on tv in a long time. After seeing a few episodes on tv I had to go out and buy the first season on dvd, I found it very addicting and refreshing. For those of you who havnt seen it, it will be on tonight at 8pm, I think its on CBS.
  6. I have seen that video a few times before but it never fails to crack me up- so perfect haha!
  7. Thank god. I cant wait to see him play Spock again, even if its just a small part of the film. I am mixed about this movie, I am an unrepentant Trekkie, with the original series being my favorite, and the way they are marketing the movie (like an action film) has me a little concerned. Star Trek never had to rely on action, but at the same time I understand that they are aiming for a new audience and it could be a nice shot in the arm for Star Trek. Either way I will be there opening day. The trailers give me the definite impression that character development plays a strong part in this movie. I can't wait. I like the trailer better on repeated viewings, and I can see what you are talking about. I am not as concerned about the movie as I used to be. I was at a Star Trek movie marathon in San Francisco over the weekend and they showed the trailer for the new movie and I couldnt help but get excited. May still seems like a long way off. *keeps fingers crossed*

  12. Awww yeah I saw this late last night. So sad, I will have to watch Star Trek II tonight in his honor. Maybe "Space Seed" too. He made such a great and charismatic villain- a wonderful actor. He will be missed.
  13. I *love* Brak, I used to watch Space Ghost all the time when I was a kid and he was always my favorite, I even had the CD. This was always my favorite of his songs;
  14. I saw it about a month ago and thought it was great- very well done. The acting was top notch and it was a very moving and interesting story. I couldnt get over how much Sean Penn embodied Harvey Milk. Looked like him, sounded like him, everything. I would recommend it to anyone here.
  15. So sad to see her go. The old guard is fading fast. My best wishes to her family.

Your not alone Jaye, I've never had a thing for Depp, though I really admire him as an actor (well as long as I close my eyes and pretend that the "Pirates" movies don't exist).
  17. I love Oldboy, its in my top 10 favorite movies. I discovered it about a year ago and its just beautiful. Shocking too, but very well done. I had the ending/surprise blown for me, so I knew before I saw it, but I still really enjoyed it. Wonderful soundtrack as well.

I was fortunate enough to get to meet Crispin Glover. He was very accommodating and friendly, I even got a picture with him; http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb162/SecurityKitten/crispinm.jpg When I was living in L.A. I saw Crispin Glover 2 or 3 times. He shopped at the same health food store I did. I never spoke to him though. I couldn't resist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALapHYNSmoA I remember when that happened. There are all kinds of rumors about that and I have always wondered how much of that was staged. Was Letterman really mad and was Glover really that weird? Apparently it wasnt staged at all. Letterman was very upset about it and didnt let Crispin on his show again for a good couple of years I believe.

Yeah I would be apprehensive about approaching a celebrity while they were going about their daily business as well. I met him at a showing of his directorial film, What is It? And there was a formal meet and greet session- much more comfortable.

And I've had a few sightings, but they weren't anymore than that; Lars Ulrich at an art show in San Francisco and Nancy Pelosi at a similar event. This weekend I'm going to go see Leonard Nimoy narrate Peter and the Wolf, and with any luck I might get the chance to say hello.
