So crazy too! I haven't seen it for about 20 years. It is on Criterion now???? DOOD! I so need to own it! LOL! Right on! You must get it asap! The transfer is amazing! Earl First I need a job Oh that sucks! Sorry!!! GOOD LUCK!! Thansk for the luck definately need it. Awesome to know that this movie is available again cause it wasn't. In 1989 any VHS copies were known as out of print and were sold for no less $75.00. That was my quoted price because at the time I was collecting Bowie movies. Hey April! Just to let you know maybe you can find a used Criterion copy of this movie on Ebay or at some local used dvd record store. The Criterion dvd version is also awesome and probably a lot cheaper used. It's a two dvd set and actually comes with a reprint of the script in booklet form. It retailed new for under 30 bucks. Maybe you could find a used one for 15! May The Force Be With You. April, don't you find it strange that one of David Bowie's best albums is entitled "THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD?" I love that record and it slightly relates to the film. Cheers! I have the Man Who Fell to Earth Criterion box set you mentioned, and the book included is not the script- its the book the movie was based off of, and a very interesting read! And since I've admitted owning the box set, its obvious that I love this movie. I found it like Lady April did, when I was collecting Bowie movies, and its become one of my very favorite science fiction films.
  2. QUOTE (HisCounterpart @ Jun 16 2009, 06:46 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 15 2009, 02:15 PM) watch SCARFACE. This reminds me of once watching a top100 best films to see before you die or something like that and some talking head went "If you haven't seen Scarface you haven't lived!" To which my bf responded "I once watched Scarface and I almost died!" Well, didn't grab him apparently. As for fav actor of all time, it's a tought one. Apart from all the great ones already mentioned, Christopher Walken has always been a personal favourite of mine. Gary Oldman is great too. Gary Oldman is my pick, easily my favorite actor, I dont think theres a role he cant play.

That's a good list. Thank you! Hey, I recall some of your previous "concerned" posts about the new Star Trek movie. I see it made your honorable mentions, so I guess you liked it! Haha yes, I was concerned in the beginning but as time went on- the more I found out about the movie the more I warmed up to it and by the time the movie had been released I was feeling very optimistic and ended up loving it. I saw it twice the opening weekend and am going to see it again soon. What did you think?

Cool, someone listed 'Blade Runner' as their number one! By the way, when you mention 'The Thing' are you referring to the original or the remake? I love both, myself. I was referring to the remake- its one of my favorite movies in general too, not just sci-fi. I love when sci-fi and horror cross and rarely is it ever done as well as in that movie.
  7. QUOTE (Jaye @ May 22 2009, 02:50 PM) ^^^Even that is a bit too much muscle for me, personally.. I agree. I don't like much muscle at all though, I prefer a more cuddly appearance.

  10. I don't get Bio, so I have to wait till they re-air episodes on A&E or buy them off of itunes.
  11. I've seen the ones with Tim Allen and Leonard Nimoy so far. I would have to agree, the show is very good- when I first heard that Shatner was getting his own show where he was going to interview people, I thought he might have a tendency to talk over his guests, but he dosnt at all. His questions are very thoughtful- its too bad its only half an hour, I'd love to see the footage from the interviews that they dont include in the episodes.
  12. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Apr 27 2009, 08:19 AM) A reminder to the show's fans (NattySci, VampireBiscuits, JimboGames, et al) that there's a new episode tonight. Yes, and it seems they are back! That was a great one! My husband and I were dying of laughter. They even gave us a "Soft Kitty" reprise haha!
  13. Oh thanks for the heads up- I hope it stays at that price for a while though. I already have the 3 seasons of the original series on DVD and cant justify spending the extra money for another set in blu-ray right now (even though its just the first season, I'd inventively have to get the other two down the road).
  14. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Apr 23 2009, 12:41 PM) QUOTE (VampireBiscuits @ Apr 23 2009, 01:31 PM) QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Apr 20 2009, 09:59 AM) No new episode tonight (April 20th), but there are at least two more new ones before the end of the season... Next Monday (April 27th) is "The Vegas Renormalization." Leonard and Koothrappali take a heartbroken Wolowitz to Las Vegas, leaving Sheldon locked out of his apartment and forced to bunk with Penny! On May 4th is "The Classified Materials Turbulence." No plot description yet. So the season isnt over yet? Thats great! And though it wasnt a new episode this Monday (The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis) I had never seen that episode all the way through. The last 5 minutes were sent to me a while back by a friend, who knowing what a Leonard Nimoy/Spock/Star Trek freak I am thought I would get a kick out of it- its what got me watching The Big Bang Theory, so it was fun to see the rest of it- I loved it. "You haven't given me a gift, you've given me an obligation!" QUOTE "You haven't given me a gift, you've given me an obligation!" That is SO Sheldon! Funny that when he ended up with Nimoy's autograph (and DNA!), no gift was large enough to reciprocate with. He gave her ALL the gift baskets, not just the largest one. A couple new ones in the next two weeks, and maybe still more. Haha yes I loved that. And even upon giving her all of them when she asked him what he had done he replied "I know!.....Its not enough is it?!" And the line "Do you realize what this means?! All I need is a healthy ovum and I can grow my own Leonard Nimoy!" Will never cease to crack me up. (I want one too!) And I'm glad that there will still be some more new episodes. My sister will be thrilled to hear it as well, since I recently got her addicted to the show as well.

QUOTE (ReRushed @ Apr 8 2009, 03:48 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Apr 8 2009, 06:47 PM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Apr 8 2009, 05:41 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Apr 8 2009, 06:21 PM) I like Eric Bana, I like him a lot. I even forgive him for the craptacular 'Pathfinder'. So I look forward to seeing him as Dr. McCoy. He even has an authentic-sounding mild Southern accent. I wondered about that so I did a search on Dr McCoy and the lore says the man's from Georgia! I know you jaded Trekkies can quote that in your sleep but it's news to me and it makes the character cooler IMHO (I am Southern, after all). Here's the clip, it's short, but pretty cool. 'Star Trek' clip. Enjoy, y'all! Karl Urban is playing McCoy. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee138/ReRushed/star-trek-mccoy.jpg Eric Bana is the main villian named Nero. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee138/ReRushed/Nero.jpg Thanks for that, I got the name confused. Please don't kill me, Trekkies! Don't worry. We usually keep our phasers on stun. My best friend (a fellow Trekkie) woke me up with a text 5 o'clock this morning to tell me about this clip. So of course I immediately got up to watch it - I was pleasantly surprised. I've been holding my breath about this movie, and that clip was a relief. Urban looks like he really took the role seriously and I thought from what I could see it was true to McCoy's character and at many points he even sounded a lot like De Kelly. I'm getting very excited for this movie- only one month left!
  17. Oh thats so good to hear. As a big fan of the original series I have been a bit worried about this movie, but still excited. I was keeping my expectations low, so its really great to hear that! Now I am really anxious to see it!
  18. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Mar 31 2009, 01:59 AM) Hey! Mine didn't come with a T-shirt! Loved the episode last night; maybe those two consecutive bad eps were just a burp, and we're back to the good stuff. Even my wife laughed out loud when Penny caught herself making a Star Trek reference! Good episode of "Mother" last night, too. I didnt get a shirt with mine either , I would love one of those! haha And I agree, last nights was much better than the last two, and I loved Penny's slip with the Star Trek reference as well. So cute. So was that supposed to be the season finale then or are there still more coming?
  19. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Mar 22 2009, 06:44 PM) Like fans of Star Trek actually has sex. You should rephrase the question thusly: "Which of these Trek Babes do you usually crank one off to instead of talking to real live women?" And what would you say to the female Star Trek fans? And I have to say, being a member of the Trek community, I know plenty of Trekkies who do not fit the stereotypical image that popular culture has crafted of them. They are good looking, live on their own, have wives/girlfriends, etc. That is a sad, incorrect and outdated stereotype. My own husband is a fan too, and he couldnt be further from what you seem to perceive fans to be. So cut it out and let us have our fun.
  20. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Mar 18 2009, 03:40 AM) Opinions on this week's ep? I thought it was better than last week, surely, but still a little weak. Have they run out of great material already? Best thing was seeing Sheldon hyped-up on coffee. He said he's never been a coffee drinker, at least since moving to California, but I ask the rest of you: haven't we seen Sheldon drinking coffee before? I think I remember him holding a coffee mug once or twice in the past. And one thing I'm sure of: I've seen Leonard wake up, go to the kitchen, and pour himself a cup of coffee from an already brewed pot! Is it on an automatic timer, does Sheldon make it for Leonard but not drink it himself, or... was Sheldon a coffee drinker all along?? I thought it was a little weak too. Better than the week before, but still. At least its gradually picking up. Hopefully tomorrows will be even better. And I cant say I have paid that close attention to Sheldon's coffee (or lack of) habits. I'll have to keep an eye out though when I get the first season back from my sister. Though the idea of him avoiding coffee like that makes sense to me/fits with his character.
  21. Troi, easily. The combination of her dark hair and pale skin was quite stunning.
  22. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Mar 16 2009, 01:43 PM) QUOTE (naturalsciences101 @ Mar 16 2009, 12:55 PM) I can picture this Sheldon character wearin' thin on my nerves at some point. Just imagine him as an Earth-bound, 21st Century Mr. Spock. Haha thats funny, thats exactly who Sheldon reminds me of- just a little more arrogant than Spock ever was.
  23. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Mar 16 2009, 06:44 AM) New episode tonight. I noticed CBS, when promoting tonight's prime time lineup, focused on BBT. They must really be behind the show, or it's doing well, or both. I'm looking forward to the new one- I havnt seen any promos but from the description it looks like its at least partly a Sheldon vs Penny episode and the last one they had like that was hilarious.
  24. I've just started getting into The Next Generation. The Original Series was always my favorite and was/am so attached to those characters that it was almost a year of watching TOS over and over again before I could start TNG. I was reluctant to open myself to the new characters and I've only been watching for maybe 3 weeks now but I already love Picard. He has the wisdom, elegance and sophistication of an older man and overall is a great Captain. That being said, my vote still goes to Kirk. He will always be my favorite. Kirk tended to go quiet and internalize his thought process during times of stress, loss or difficult decision making, while Picard is more open, it seems. So I dont really think Picard was necessarily more intelligent than Kirk, they just simply have very different personalities. And Kirk had a lot of charisma and a very curious/adventurous spirit that I really enjoyed. Not to mention his sense of humor and I found his friendship with Spock (and the way he interacted with the rest of the crew in general) very endearing. And I hate to be a pain in the ass, but I cant help it. Its Tiberius, not Tiberias.
  25. QUOTE (goose @ Mar 12 2009, 02:09 PM) QUOTE (VampireBiscuits @ Mar 10 2009, 08:15 PM) I dont understand why so many people liked this movie. I hated it, I couldnt watch the whole thing. That narration was one of the most irritating things I've ever experienced in a movie. Talk about being spoon-fed. Most of the things in the narration were either obvious or could have been easily established with a simple conversation or better character development. I felt it was lazy and demeaning. Just curious...Do you generally like Woody Allen stuff? (And I see you were at the Gorge ) I like a lot of his older stuff, like Annie Hall. But I didnt like this movie (obviously) or Match Point. And that was a great show, wasnt it? I felt bad for them with the equipment malfunctioning the way it did with all the wind and such but that stuff is just the icing on the cake. I was there with a friend near the front, off to the far right of the stage.
