  1. I've been into Rose Hill Drive lately as far as new bands go. they actually played a gig here in Bellingham some time ago. I had a thread on it here somewhere. Their albums are mellower than their live show, but they're a good '70's-ish sounding band. Moon is the New Earth kinda has a Cheap Trick vibe to it somehow. Another band is Priestbird. Imagine if '73 ELO stared turning into more of a hard rock band thanpop. Nice cellos and piano on this one.
  2. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Mar 19 2009, 10:56 AM) Okay, its dolphin-free, but is there MSG? I'm allergic to MSG You're allergic to the Michael Schenker Group? Not good, man.
  3. Funny. I just found a two-disc CD of Pryor at an antique store. I hadn't heard any Prior for a long time. It had this bit and stuff from all the way back to '68 or so. Cool.
  4. Gross. There was a bad movie, I think it was called Tideland. Druggy, morbid, and warped as hell. I couldn't take watching all of it. Stopped midway somewhere. It had a little girl snuggling on her dead Dad's lap after she gave him a fatal dose of heroin. Sick.
  5. Joking Phoenix. Wacky Peanuts. Smoking Kleenex. Walking Beesnest.
  6. Mick Jagger trying to sing with a little vibrato on "Wild Horses" makes me cringe. Dude, you're not Gary Puckett.
  7. I've been watching the last half dozen shows with a growing interest. Yeah, the '70's vibe is cool, but there's more to the show than that. Keitel is great here. It kinda reminds me of my Driver Parallel Lines game I like to play (it's set in 1978 and 2006, and in New York City.) I just checked the link to the wikipedia entry, and it looks like the series is about over. Bummer, I was just getting into it. I bet it goes on DVD soon after. I'll definitely get one.

  9. Lotsa info and stuff I've never heard of. I gots research to do. I voted Heavy Prog... aging metalhead here. Although I do like Zappa's work...
  10. I had forgotten all about this movie. Haven't seen it in years. It reminded me of American Grafitti with a screw loose. I also like movies with old American machinery in it anyway. Another good car geek movie. GTO's belong with huge Cragar mags out back. Looks like Amazon is gonna get some more business, I'm gonna go track this one down. Thanks.
  11. South Park. One of the most socially uninhibited shows I've seen. I still like the Simpsons better, though.
  12. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jan 26 2009, 05:51 PM) QUOTE (ozzy85 @ Jan 26 2009, 02:09 PM) Had I seen this thread when I joined here, i would have voted for Kill Bill. Both of them. Yes, they are violent, but cartoonishly so. I like chop socky flicks. Better yet though, I like Deathproof. I like '70's car movies even better than chop socky movies. I just watched Vanishing Point last night. I used to think I was a stunt driver in my younger years. Vanishing Points rules! which is why I dug Death Proof. I know. I had a Dodge Challenger I ran the s**t out of. And a '70 Nova I used to race.
  13. I have a 20-year old Toshiba TV that still works great. A 25" screen is plenty for me. I'm tired of trying to buy a movie when they want to push widescreen or blue ray on me. I can see my screen fine, thanks. Band Aid Vision is a good name for it.

  15. Unwanted attention is very uncool. I had been chased after by a woman I had NO interest in and was a just plain spooky individual. I met her because we knew a couple of people in common. She went out with this one guy I knew for at lest a year or so. Nice, meek, timid kinda guy. She was basically a rough, haggard sort you might find rotting away in a seedy bar. Crazy as a rat in a coffee can. They broke up, and she sent some thug to beat him up... this is a guy who wouldn't hurt a fly. I flatly turned her down. No way. She showed up at a party at my place (!)and wanted to stay the night. No. She tried following me in town one night. I blew a stop light and hid in a parking lot with the lights off and the engine running. She found me. I ended up outrunning her on a dirt road. Sometime after I began hearing things from people... she had apparently been telling people I was gay, since I wanted nothing to do with her. Jolly. Great. I finally got her to stop when I confronted her in Denny's. In front of her friends. I confronted her about the remarks she made and the crap she'd done and said "that's it, enough." embarrassed the hell out of her. I made another remark I won't mention here and left. Sometimes, the best defense is a good offense...
  16. It's finally dry for a few days in a row here in Washington state. If the heavy frost would just leave for a bit...

    KHAN!!!

QUOTE (Arndrake @ Jan 14 2009, 06:49 PM) And of course, nobody could say 'rich Corinthian leather' like Ricardo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIL3fbGbU2o I used to have a car like that. Same interior, same color, except for a white vinyl top. One of the best cars I ever had. My first thought, too, was of Khan.

    Hecklers

QUOTE (Steevo @ Jan 8 2009, 01:51 AM) QUOTE (Mara @ Jan 5 2009, 11:31 AM)I can't figure out why anyone would heckle Carlin. Pay god-alone-knows-how-much for a ticket and then risk getting tossed? Carlin owned, though, right from the start. Doesn't he though. Wouldve loved to have seen him, just once. I dont think he hardly ever made it down here, if ever. I know someone from another board that met him. Sorry to stray from the point of thread, just had to pass that on. I know. He stopped by our little town TWICE and I didn't gather the $$$ to see him. "Next time..." Shit. I'm still bummed by his passing. Why would anyone want to heckle Carlin? that's like picking a bar fight with a ninja. You're gonna get shredded.
  19. I agree about Steve Carrell. Let's see how well he keeps going.
  20. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jan 8 2009, 03:17 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Jan 8 2009, 02:59 PM) The most brilliant actor of this, or any other time is the great, (drum roll please) http://www.comiccitytn.com/john_saxon_med.jpg JOHN SAXON ! He's good, i saw him in Joe Kidd the other night...he matched up pretty solidly to Duvall and Clint... MITCHELL!
  21. I did like Giamatti in Duets. I forgot about it until you guys mentioned him.
  22. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jan 7 2009, 06:41 PM) Jim Carrey should stick to face pulling, mugging for the camera and impressions... NO! No, no no no. No more faces, please! No more Ace Ventura! Please!
