  1. QUOTE (thelocator @ Sep 19 2010, 07:43 AM) I knew precisely what he was talking about...SO, WHEN THE F do we get another one...The only thing that has sucked about this band is how infrequently they get into the studio....Only FOUR full-lengths is rather ridiculous in the nearly twenty years that they've been together...These guys should have at least two more titles in their catalog by now. WHEN IS #5? Yeah, I know... Their M.O. seems to average out to an album every five years... So. 10,000 Days came out in '06... 2011? Nah, I bet 2012. They're perfectionists. I remember the big build up to the release of 10,000 Days. At least its worth it, compared to Guns N Roses They're in no hurry to do a follow up album and I'm sure they have plenty of side projects to keep them busy.
  2. A somewhat obscure band, but try Focus ...stick with the 1974 and earlier stuff. They make my playlist often.
  3. Been digging Aenima a bit lately. It's an album I usually pass over for 10,000 Days. Thanks to my wife, the Tool fan.

Awesome job. Sounds like it could have been 1977 all over again. I just found a mint copy of Dog & Butterfly on vinyl. Mistral Wind is probably their best and most dramatic song from the early days.
  5. Really, I'd have to sit in front of my album collection for this one... there are albums I really like, but maybe have one iffy track (Mr. Tinkertrain on Ozzy's No More Tears for example.) I'll try to list some albums that I get repeated pleasure from, end to end. No skipping tracks if I don't feel like it. I'll start with the obvious... Rush- A Farewell To Kings Rush- Hemispheres Rush- Vapor Trails Rush- Snakes And Arrows Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath Black Sabbath- Sabotage Black Sabbath- Heaven And Hell Ozzy- Blizzard Of Ozz Zakk Wylde- Book Of Shadows Pink Floyd- Animals Metallica- Master Of Puppets Megadeth- Countdown To Extinction Alice In Chains- Black Gives Way To Blue Alice In Chains- Jar Of Flies Soungarden- Down On The Upside Santana- Caravanseri Santana- Welcome The Mars Volta- Octahedron Led Zepplin- Physicall Grafitti Grand Funk Railroad- Phoenix Isaac Hayes- Joy Commodores- Hot On The Tracks War- Platinum Jazz Mr. Bungle- Disco Volante Mr. Bungle- California Slayer- Seasons In The Abyss Kyuss- Sky Valley Kyuss- Blues For A Red Sun Queens Of The Stone Age- Songs for The Deaf Them Crooked Vultures ...Ok, that's enough for now. I haven't even touched on much Southern Rock or much '70's stuff.
  6. Nah, they're a good band. They've never greased the eel.
  7. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Aug 24 2010, 02:30 PM) Tiny Tim! "Tiptoe through the tulips......." I got to meet that guy when I was a little kid. When that song was new-ish. 1969-70, maybe. ...Otherwise, that chick from the Cranberries.
  8. Yep! Take it away, dude!
  9. OK, then... from what I've read Neal drove one of these in the '70's... what is it? http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss55/lotuseuropa/IMG_1684.jpg
  10. QUOTE (ridertoo98 @ Aug 19 2010, 07:06 PM) ok http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh209/6cylrider98/ig23.jpg That's either a 1966 Iso Grifo or Iso Rivolta. Didn't they use Corvette engines in those?
  11. QUOTE (thelocator @ Aug 15 2010, 04:12 PM) I'm F'n staring at this list for like four minutes without even coming close to a final decision...I dub this the task -an impossible one. I would choose Signify possibly if you would allow me the bonus CD - Insignificance. I don't know enough about these guys, I'm still kinda new as a PT fan. Found out about 'em here. On a normal day I'd say Deadwing. An album that just had everything going for it. Love it. But you brought up Signify. I found a used copy. Hard to think of Insignificance as a "bonus" disc, it's a pretty richly conceived deal of its own, although it mirrors Signify. The Incident did seem a little weird at first, but playing it in my car on the way to work, it seems pretty cool. Playing it at 5:30-6 am on my commute is a pretty trippy deal. It works. Keep stretching those boundaries, guys.
  12. GREETINGS... Yeah, everyone should be made to listen to COS and have to write a thesis on its meaning and social impactand how it makes you feel about your place in the universe. Welcome to the loony bin.

  14. QUOTE (ridertoo98 @ Aug 10 2010, 07:36 PM) ok a little newer http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh209/6cylrider98/65.jpg 1964 Studebaker Daytona (?) For some reason, there's a bunch of Studes in my area. Musta been a dealership here at one time.

  16. QUOTE (Janie @ Aug 9 2010, 07:30 AM) QUOTE (ozzy85 @ Aug 8 2010, 12:59 PM) I want one of those RASH t-shirts like Geddy wore! Are those the ones they were throwing to the crowd at the end? Damn, Alex chucked one shirt that landed about 10-15 feet away from me and we weren't exactly close to the stage. He did launch one like a missile, didn't he? Maybe I can find one online somewhere.
  17. Glad to see you found a way to make it to the show, Janie. We were a bit late... 4.5 hours on the road form Bellingham to Auburn (!) Traffic holdups in each major town, plus it rained, turing the roads into what people apparently thought was a demo derby ring. Wreckage! We were on the aisle on the 19th row, Alex's side. All the way to the left. The memory card on the camera was full and didn't erase, so no pics! ...Talk about a totally different vibe from the Gorge show in '08... Rush has a sense of humor, but this felt even more relaxed. The vibe was kinda like if you could go to one of their houses and watch them jam on a good night. To anyone who think's Alex's playing style has slowed down with age... this show was mindblowing. It's hard to do when everyone in the band is a virtuoso player, but I think he ran with it that night. Not to take anything away form Geddy and Neil, either. I'm glad the camera crew is pretty in tune with showcasing them showing their chops. I particularly loved the acoustic segue into Closer To the Heart. So awesome. Yes, I know I'm a total Rush fan and I would probably be happy watching them belch Happy Birthday. It's so good to see them thrive and not just be a nostalgia act.

  19. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jul 27 2010, 02:16 PM) I thought Montrose would get a few more votes. Montrose was good, there just wasn't enough of it...
  20. I love both, but it's interesting how different they are. Book one is probably the craziest thing they'd ever done. It's totally out there. Love it.
  21. Just had to take a poke at ya...
  22. QUOTE (Earthshine @ Jul 24 2010, 03:20 AM) I voted for Sammy Hagar. He is best solo. I remember this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU0_MYXqRR8 Does anybody remember it? I think he was about 17 when he did it! This was right before he joined Montrose. I remember those days like they were last week! Wasn't life great back then?! Nice vid, dude. Cool vinyl stack. Did you hear the slight crackle on the record in between songs? Hagar's pretty good at everything he does, Van Halen didn't necessarily do him a favor. The first Montrose album absolutely rips! Voted for just plain ol' Hagar, though. Love the '66 T-Bird on the record cover.
  23. That's a car brand I've never heard of... you get to go again since you've stumped us, dude.
