  2. Bad idea. Although it was kinda cool when Los Lonley Boys did it live.

  4. I'm guessing they will be behind Geddy. Usually where the dryers or rotisseries are. I wouldn't want them in the middle of the stage. We would lose all the interaction between Geddy and Alex. Plus, they block any view of Neil's kit.
  5. Tommy Shaw was great. I also enjoyed Golden Earring.
  6. Maybe during Tom Sawyer we could just all fall asleep... Since that song has been played to death!
  7. I could easily see an acoustic version of Nobody's Hero getting played this tour. For some obvious reasons.
  8. QUOTE (BU4B @ Jun 7 2012, 06:33 AM) QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ Jun 7 2012, 09:19 AM) QUOTE (BU4B @ Jun 7 2012, 06:05 AM) It can't be right that people from the rest of the world can order and attend things in the UK and have priority over the natives. Anyone from anywhere can buy tickets to a concert. It's called capitalism. What makes you think YOU have priority? Just because you live closer to the venue? Give me a break. Actually yes, I do think because the venue is in the Country I live in that I should be able to buy tickets that aren't seats located at the back of the venue because all the good seats were sent abroad The tickets were not "sent abroad". They got bought up by fans. Probably more locally than you care to admit. I highly doubt that the front sections are non UK fans. And even if there are...that's called free market. You expect them to be held because you have a British accent? Talk about an entitlement mentality...lol No wonder your country is going down the tube! And we are right behind you, because we have folks here, that think the same way you do. No one owes you anything!

  10. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Jun 5 2012, 09:18 PM)QUOTE (UltimoGuitarist @ Jun 5 2012, 11:03 PM) Well to each his own I suppose. Yeah I love the coldness of GUP. I love a production that compliments the type of music being played, and (this sounds ridiculous but...) the album cover. LOL. For some reason I associate the two together sometimes. GUP looks cold and wintery. And the songs sound that way too. Love that. I agree, the dark nature of the album and the cover art really lends itself to that kind of cold and almost futuristic kind of sound. I'm sure this is no great surprise to you but I'd guess you feel that way about Counterparts because it was the first Rush album made after the dramatic shift that happened around 1992. Instantly everything got much "thicker". Go listen to anything in rock from 1990 or 1991 and then anything from 1992 or 1993, it's a radical change. I'm 44 and I grew up on 70s and 80s music and for ages all 90s (and later) music sounded like mud to me. But that's not a Rush thing, that's the whole industry and mindset even among most fans. There's no way a major rock band is going to make an album that sounds like it was made in 1984 or 1976. It's just a different world and Terry Brown wouldn't make a shred of difference. I just chose these randomly for a quick comparison. Again, I'm sure this won't be a shock to you but hearing the contrast back to back I think will tell you why Counterparts sounded bad to you. It was the same producer as on Power Windows but that just doesn't matter. Check out just the first 10 seconds or so of this from 1990 to hear the guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lAvkeioshs And then listen to the first 10 seconds of this from 1992: That's just the way people are conditioned now.
  11. Yeah...just found it.
  12. QUOTE (MMCXII @ Jun 4 2012, 08:06 PM) Someone posted the entire album on YouTube.. Crazy! I don't see it there.
  13. I think Rush lost their magic when they stopped writing songs together. Everything sounds forced now. Plus...somewhere along the line, someone convinced them that this big wall of sound and the Geddy chorus sounded good. I'm still a fan and will hold off judgement until I hear the whole album; but I must honestly say I'm a little disappointed in the latest 30 second clips. To me, this is just VT and S&A all over again.
  14. Time Machine = Best Production Signals = Best Setlist
  15. No way this is the last album or tour. People have been asking this forever! If anything, they might shorten the length of their tours and setlists...in the coming years. I can only imagine how exhausting it must be. Especially as they grow older. I bet they will be around for another 10+ years or so.
  16. QUOTE (danielmclark @ May 23 2012, 03:04 PM) QUOTE (ThinkingBig @ May 23 2012, 04:53 PM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ May 23 2012, 01:30 PM)QUOTE (ThinkingBig @ May 23 2012, 11:49 AM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ May 22 2012, 05:24 PM) The only song that has never been dropped is Tom Sawyer. Every other song has been shelved at least once. There's NO reason any of those songs can't be shelved again. None. Source. Re: The 'Source'. I like that particular site for looking back seeing what Rush did in the past. But just today, a memory was jogged - and I looked back at the Signals Tour Setlist. I'm sorry, but it has some inaccuracies. Limelight was the closer. They didn't play La Villa. And the YYZ drum solo was before the encore. So, that begs the question, are there other inaccuracies in the set lists? I would imagine that the set lists from 2002 on are pretty accurate. And with all the bootlegs out there, I guess we could confirm. Where are you getting your information? About the Signals show? I was there. I remember that Rush concert better than most because I was not old enough to drink. La Villa was a song I fell in love with the previous summer, and I remember being disappointed they didn't play it. They played In The Mood last as they did on the first 3 tours I went to. Limelight was part of the encore (may have been a second encore). I remember making our way toward the door during Limelight because my mom was picking us up on Manchester Blvd. And the YYZ drum solo was definitely before the encore. With all due respect, and I'm not saying you're wrong - that was 30 years ago. I would say, at this point, if there's a question about the setlist that's posted over there, bootlegs should be examined (like you mentioned). Again, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying... reputable website vs. 30 year old memory (from a then-teenager)... it warrants further investigation No...I clearly remember YYZ being the closer because Neil's drum solo was right in the middle of the song. Limelight was not the closer (at my show anyway). It wasn't even in the encore. They played both La Villa and In The Mood in the encore, if I remember correctly.
  17. Rush-O-Matic is 100% correct. Not sure how I feel about him passing out this info I have searched for tickets on the day of the show and found floor seats like Row 5 and better. I have also seen nothing. It's a major crap shoot and not one I'm willing to take on Rush....without a good backup. I have rolled the bones with other events and have done well. Ideally, it works great if you can buy two sets of tickets (one during the sale and then one on the day of the show) and have a plan to unload your intial purchase if you were able to score better seats. Like sell them to a friend or relative etc. Good luck.
  18. Most people turn into animals with GA. No thanks! I'll take my reserved seat over GA any day of the week.
  19. QUOTE (jjgittes @ May 17 2012, 08:46 AM) Every time we all lament about ticket prices, it reminds of what a dj said about Bruce Springsteen being a "hyprocrite." Springsteen wails about the rich abusing power and keeping people poor but now the only people who can afford to see him are the very people he whines about. Well, maybe there is a message in there somewhere, I don't know. Yeah...the message is that Springsteen is a 3 chord, untalented, hack musician, ignorant douchebag.
