  1. "I Just read them as stories about people trying to make it in the world around them and overcoming obstacles." by being true to themselves and what they believe in. " We The Living " is a great read , informative( about the rise of communism in Russia ) , sad and ultimately tragic at the end.
  2. The new Schenker album is a keeper. I, also have everything that Schenker & UFO have released in the past 40+ years. Enjoy the concert, it sounds like it may be Schenker's best in years, I wish I could catch a show on this current tour, as with UFO too.
  3. Lucas, I discovered Ayn Rand the same way you did. Started with Anthem, then read the other 3 novels she wrote. The Fountainhead is one of the most important books I've ever read. Changed my life as much as Rush did. My first born daughter's middle name is Ayn.
  4. RUSHHEAD666, I was fortunate to see a Trower concert with Roy Buchanan backing him up in a small Ma. venue in the mid 80's, shortly before Buchanan hung himself(supposedly).
  5. My mistake, I thought you were downplaying Trower's abilities and career by throwing in that overused "he is no Jimi" statement. Forgive me , but that's like someone who really aren't familiar with anything Rush has done besides loving Moving Pictures and downplaying them as "They are no Led Zeppelin", and ignoring who and what Rush really are.
  6. Never claimed to be, never wanted to be. But his recording career stands on it's own and it's fantastic, especially his last cd, recorded at the age of 69.
  7. Great post, great guitar player. Been Listening to Something's About to change since it came out, and lovin' it! Rushhead666, how great is "Benny Dancer"!!
  8. Huge Trower fan, so I chose him, not so much as the best but as the artist I chose to listen to.
  9. canadianice, Great to see a UFO/Schenker Fan here. Unfortunately I'm out of here for the day. Maybe tomorrow we can pick up this conversation again. Have a good night.
  10. I agree, canadianice! You might want to check out the new UFO it's one of their recent best, maybe the best with Vinnie Moore.
  11. I get it. Just seems wrong that the bashing, is at the best half right, while the other half of his live vocals are ignored, which at times are excellent, and spot on.
  12. Narpsburg, I do not believe in any way, shape, or form that Geddy's voice is as it was on his best days. It's just not as bad as is being said. Also listening to a VH1 broadcast of their show is not the same as listening to the Blu-Ray version on a good home stereo system. And again, next time anyone puts in a recent concert DVD,do his vocals with his passion for the whole concert, first word to last word, and you might realize he's not as shot as you believe. Not saying this to change your opinion, but to give you a better perspective on what he does for 2.5 plus hours every other night, at the level he reaches for not only for himself, but for the fans at the shows.
  13. With all due respect EagleMoon, I do not feel the way I do about the negative things people say about this band while looking through "Rose colored glasses". I've been following this band with passion and respect since I first heard Caress of Steel in fall/winter of 1975. I do not dislike any song they have recorded, or believe they have any filler in their albums, except for New World Man on Signals, which they themselves have admitted to creating to fill the last 4 minutes of that album. Which turned out to be a very good song.
  14. Sorry Guys, but I don't believe his voice is shot. It's just not the same youthful voice that we all grew up with. I've been there live in the seventies and eighties and his vocals could get very cringe worthy in spots, at least 5 or 6 times a show. Try singing along to the last few concert DVD's with as much passion as he is for the whole show, and you may realize that he's not really that bad as you say. Anyway, just my feelings.
  15. LedRush I agree. I've enjoyed the Tiles catalog with and without Terry Brown producing. Looking forward to their next release. I wouldn't mind Terry Brown coming back to produce the next Rush album, though I have no problem with Nick at the helm, and would love to hear Rush end their career by producing their last album by themselves, with no outside direction.
  16. 6/23 Boston, Section A Row 4, Center aisle seats. Can't wait to see them again.
  17. Michael Schenker-The Kulick Sessions. Also a nice cover of Finding My Way on that cd.
  18. RUSHHEAD666, may I suggest The Blow Monkeys first album "Limping For A Generation". Kinda funky, kinda jazzy, really good album. After that they became more pop/dance like for the next two, then less that more rock/heavier on their next, then almost world music like on Springtime For The World (amazing album). Then they parted ways for about 15 years until they reformed. The next batch of releases leading up to the present are very mature rock/funk/soul. If you pick up any to listen to, please let me know what you think of them.
  19. Thanks for the welcome,RUSHHEAD666. Though I'm a rocker, I think The Blow Monkeys are one of the best groups I've ever heard. Love that sax. Caught Digging Your Scene on MTV back in 86. My first thought was "interesting song, cool video", then when I saw the name of the band, I thought "The Blow Monkeys, damned if I'll ever listen to a band with that name!". But 2 years later, I heard West End Girls on the radio, and it made me think of Digging Your Scene, so I went out and bought Animal Magic, and have been a huge fan since. 27 years later, I'm awaiting their latest release out next month.
  20. Robin Trower, UFO, Television, The Blow Monkeys, Mastadon, Riverside, Volbeat, Blue October, Michael Schenker, Jeff Kollman. All currently still playing and releasing new material every few years.
  21. I think that they are more than ready to go back into the studio and record another album, but I think they want to go and get in playing shape before they tackle something new. Plus I think they enjoyed the return to their roots that flowed throughout Clockwork Angels. So, not only are they getting warmed up before their next offering, but they get to revisit their earlier compositions that the majority of their fans love and use that to spark something new but possibly with that seventy's mindset and blow our, and their minds. They still got it, and with all their experience from the past forty years, they'll deliver something unique: fresh as always, but with a classic feel. This short tour, then into the studio to record, then back out to support/play the new material, then possibly call it a day as far as touring goes. Don't you think that at this point in their career, they would just love to compose music without having to worry about playing it live.
