  1. TrueRushFans™ Not just fans. No, that's not what I meant! Why all the negativity? I'm amazed that they can still rock out at their "advanced age". Sorry, but I only see all the positives of their performances during this tour. All you "critics" can disprove me if you can do better than them at the same age!
  2. Right, so to be "true fans" we aren't allowed to complain about anything. Gimme a f***ing break I'm so happy you are the "first and only perfect" human being that ever existed on Earth. You can trust in his perfection. He's an engineer. His argument that I think I'm the "first and only perfect" human being makes no sense. I love Rush. Most (if not all) of us love Rush. But if someone has a negative opinion of whatever it may be, that's their right. It doesn't make them any less of a fan. Why be negative and not positive about their performance? I know Rush are not perfect. Rush are not machines.

  4. I haven't been on here in ages but finally had some free time to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon perusing the Internet and return to this forum. I can't believe the bashing that is going on about Geddy's vocals on the tour and (in particular) the DVD/Blu-ray. I thought people on here were fans. Obviously (I think) the ones that are complaining are too young to understand aging. Yes, I too have noticed that Geddy no longer has that range of his youth, but he still "sounds like" himself! Trust me, I've seen every tour since AFTK and even in the 80's I noticed differences in his range from the 70's songs that were still in rotation. Part of it was growing as a vocalist and the fact that he did start taking vocal lessons and instead of "screaming" parts he was actually singing them! I was at the second Toronto show and Ben Mink and the band doing Losing It for the first time ever live was the pinnacle! Why is nobody focusing on the extremely great musicianship of these 3 in their mid 60's and can pull off some of the most complex compositions that they admit were difficult when they first recorded them (Hemispheres)? They put musicians a third of their age to shame!!!! I thought the people on this forum were true fans (and understanding human beings). I guess I was wrong. I wish I could do the things I could 30-40 years ago but I can't (and, for the older members, I'm sure you can't either). Why do you expect them to do the same? For you younger members, you'll understand when you get to my age (50). Peace out. Rush is still the greatest Rock band in my opinion and I thank them for 40 wonderful years of music. They owe me (or anyone else) NOTHING!
  5. Geez! That's going back a long, long, time ago! I think I was 12 or 13 when I saw my first Rush concert, AFTK Tour. My step-brother took me. I've only missed 2 tours since then... Roll The Bones (I had a massive case of the stomach flu!) and R30 (F***ing Ticketmaster Canada and 3rd party back then wanted $350+ when I think the face value was around $50-$60 for Toronto). I can't really remember the AFTK but Signals was pretty cool at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. I think the Payolas opened up for them! Don't remember much about the set list though.
  6. I don't think it was slamming. Rush was only one of numerous (and deserving... except Public Enemy... how is that "rock"?!) inductees but, you have to admit, we Rush fans are so loyal and dedicated and we took over the entire night!
  7. Dave Grohl is consummate musician and, in my opinion, the guy to keep Rock'n'Roll true in this new Millennium! Rush chose him and Taylor Hawkins to induct them!

    YYZ

Canada asked for the "Y" designation of the first letter. Why? Who knows. We Canadians are funny that way. Maybe we just wanted to f**k around with everybody's heads. Anyway, Wikipedia has links that explain the two varying codes YYZ and CYYZ: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YYZ
  9. Rik Emmett is my favourite vocalist. Loved him in Triumph but I think his solo work kicks way more ass! He is a very versatile guitarist and has the pipes to boot. Blows EVH right out of the water IMHO. Seen Rik live many times as a solo artist both with full band and acoustic solo.
  10. Best Buy owns Futureshop in Canada so if one doesn't have it the other won't either. Really? Walmart for legitimate music purchases? If they can't buy it in cheap bulk, they won't sell it! I haven't purchased music or DVD/Blu-ray from a Canadian retailer in ages. Do most of my purchases on Amazon using both the Canadian and US sites depending on who is cheaper (including shipping of course). Pre-ordered my Time Machine Blu-ray from Amazon.ca (somehow they screwed up something on my pre-order and I got it for $17.10 plus tax and free shipping via UPS). UPS showed up at my door at 5:30 PM on the day of release.
  11. First Rush song I learned on bass was Bastille Day. Then it was 2112 in its entirety.
  12. I hope the boys got compensation for product placement!
  13. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Feb 15 2011, 09:31 PM) who's Rush? http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html
  14. QUOTE (spudpotatohead @ Oct 1 2010, 10:30 AM) Being a good Canadian, we're all about accuracy... The interview on the laptop was John Roberts when he was known as 'JD Roberts'. This was pre-Much Music when that interview was conducted. It was a weekly Music show called "The New Music" starring himself and Jeanne Beker who went on to host her own show called Fashion Television (based in Toronto) Sad, and I'm old, but I actually remember that interview. Yeah, I remember the interview too! Do you remember pre-"New Music" show that John hosted? Canada's first music video show, the half hour "Toronto Rocks" on CityTV?
  15. QUOTE (Phantom @ Jul 28 2010, 05:48 PM)QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jul 28 2010, 02:48 PM) They were selling them with all of the other official gear in Toronto, including at RushCon. Thought of getting one myself...maybe when they hit the Backstage Club. You know, it was odd. I saw Rash shirts at the ACC show, but they were in a dedicated space, BESIDE the official merchanise booth. I wonder what that was all about? That was Geddy's own personal booth. He bought a Yudu and is churning out "Rash" shirts to make some extra dough.
  16. We walked into the ACC tonight without even being checked. My buddy brought a compact digital camera and we were right by an usher. Nobody questioned us at all. I can't wait to see the pics he took.
  17. My mistake then. I could have sworn they did. I guess age is catching up to me!
  18. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Apr 25 2010, 01:33 PM) They didn't ever play Witch Hunt until 1984. They did in Toronto. They must like their hometown crowd.
  19. I think they made a mistake here. It was performed in it's entirety during the Moving Pictures tour in 1981, at least at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto when I saw them. Mind you, the songs were not performed in order. The songs were spread throughout the evening but all songs from the album were performed. Regardless, I am looking forward to hearing them live again! It's been almost 30 years! I'm really stoked to hear Camera Eye and Vital Signs.
  20. QUOTE (theguyincygnusx1 @ Apr 23 2010, 08:24 PM) QUOTE (Mindcore @ Apr 23 2010, 07:52 PM) QUOTE (KillerInstinct @ Apr 22 2010, 08:37 PM) Hey guys gonna buy my tickets tonight Anyone know if the seats in section 322 are any good? Thats were im buying. Also, see you there, bigman Yeah, the 300 section is decent. That's where I was sitting during the Vapour Trails tour. As long as you're under the tent, the sound will be good. I chose the ACC show 1, because the acoustics are better and 2, it's a Saturday night! Too bad the ACC crowd is super lame So Rush fans that go to one venue in Toronto are more sincere than fans that go to the other venue? Okay... whatever. How many tours have you actually been to? I've seen Rush at both venues and at Maple Leaf Gardens and (aging myself) high schools! Everyone around me always cheered as best they could. I'll have what you're having... make mine a double!
  21. Obviously a lot of you are too young to know what Rush went through in their earlier days. They were an opening act once too. Rush for a long time had many opening acts and gave bands the opportunity they were offered to proove themselves. One of Rush's long time opening acts, for non Canadians, was Max Webster. Look them up and give them a listen. Man, Rush even co-played on Webster's final album! The song was Battlescar. Yes, I will agree, Rush has had some lame opening acts (in my opinion) but, it was them that saw something musically in those acts that intrigued them and asked them to tour. So. in essence, you naysayers are criticizing what sounds good to Geddy, Neil, and Alex. Music is in the "ear of the beholder".
  22. Yeah, I don't see SoR getting dropped. It was their highest charting single of all time. They have to appease the casual fan and, I think, they still thoroughly enjoy playing it!
  23. Have any of you considered that maybe the engineer during recording may have increased the pitch? I know in my recording days that was done a lot for recordings to increase tempo to give a song more punch during recording but, when the bands I was in played live, we played at the tempo we originally wrote the songs in. Just my two cents.
