QUOTE (Pound of Obscure @ Jun 27 2012, 02:41 PM) QUOTE (-D-RocK- @ Jun 27 2012, 03:21 PM) QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ Jun 26 2012, 06:27 PM) Lately he's singing like he's got a mouth full of cotton. At first I thought he was only doing this on live performances, but he's doing it all over CA. Parts of Carnies come to mind... but it's in just about every song. Maybe they really do need to start sticking to instrumentals... Maybe clean out your ears. If you can't understand what he's singing then you have a problem hearing. It's that simple. I considered that. My ears are fine though. Its the mix and the way he has to sing now. I'm totally fine with Geddy's singing. Its still quite good for his age. But its cotton-mouthed sometimes. Its cool. I'm not ok with the mix. That's inexcusable. Agreed....."clean out your ears"....what a load of shit. His singing is sketchy in spots, and the production DOES have issues.....especially the mix.

QUOTE (ucsteve667 @ Jun 26 2012, 08:03 PM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 26 2012, 08:10 PM) http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e85/rushgoober6/crazy-pills.jpg So this must be what people feel like when I've put down VT, because honestly, I'm not fathoming why people are hating on this really amazing new album Rush just put out. I know it's still early on in the game, but it's surpassed my expectations by such a wide margin that I wouldn't have thought it possible. This album really has a ridiculous level of depth to it. I was hoping against hope for 2 or 3 great songs, and it's got more like 8 or 9 or 10, and a few of those are some real classics! The only song I really don't dig is BU2B2, and that's only 90 seconds! Seriously, a band at this age making music THIS good is virtually unheard of, especially considering their track record for the past 25 years has not been without its low points. Anyway, I've been hesitant to express quite this level of enthusiasm before, as I know it takes a good 6 months to a year for an album to really sink in, and it's possible my opinion of the album could still drop over time as it did with S&A to an extent, but some of the recent hate has seriously puzzled me, and I had to write about it. Surely some of those who aren't liking CA will be commenting in this thread, and just know that that in my mind, and in many others' minds, that you are SERIOUSLY missing out. I feel sorry for you, because this is a great, great latter day Rush album. now ya know how I feel arguing with you about VT buddy...HA this album is the closest sounding album to VT by far, IMO.....

Honestly Kool & the Gang played a better show and I hate their music. Van Halen was very boring. David Lee Roth just kept talking during songs. Their new material sucked. I would NEVER vote ADKOT over Clockwork Angels DLR has been terrible this tour....... I must have caight them on an inspired night (Pittsburgh - 30 March), as they were fantastic...very tight and sounded great. The 2 shows i saw were Great vocally? I know lots of people who have seen them on this tour at different shows, and the comments are always the same.....mumbling between songs, singing vocal melodies totally different etc...Guess you must've been lucky... No, he did all that he just sounds better than he has in Years . I am saying the show as a Whole , Ed is ripping it up and the set is great cool..
  5. Huge fan of most of their stuff....their last release The Chair in the Doorway was awesome....

  7. QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Jun 26 2012, 06:19 PM) at my 20th-something listen....it's still a middle of the pack album for me. Sorry Mick same here, except I've listened to it probably 5 or 6 times....
  8. I cranked it for the first time in my Truck today, and I really noticed how bad the production is. Especially the mixing.....at a loud volume it certainly doesn't sound too good. It's an very good system too....

    The Garden

QUOTE (lonelymoon @ Jun 26 2012, 05:47 PM) Rush ripping off Nirvana? Been happening much beginning with Counterparts maybe ?? Grunge chords and production came from where? Hello? Alex bought a shotgun and detached garage in Seattle in '94, but he ended up using the shotgun as a slide on TFE and he stores his bike in the garage, hoping Neil will invite him on a bike ride to Nicaragua. (still waiting, I suspect). And Neil. The toms at the start of the Anarchist... it's 2012. Wipe Out has been done dude.

  11. QUOTE (mazyyz @ Jun 25 2012, 08:45 PM) I think they will be introduced in the second set when they play the first nine songs off of CA, then that's it. Probably..
  12. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jun 25 2012, 08:18 PM) i say keep the orchestra backstage and channel the sound out to the stage when needed and maybe you can put the orchestra on the video screen. Yes, please....

The single has much more punch to it. Just listen to the drums. They were killed on the album. The single versions of Caravan and BU2B both sound better than the entire album. They had a lot more balls and were changed to match the rest of the songs, and now none of them have as much power as those 2 singles had. Drums are not "killed" and no, the single versions are not better than the whole album. Give me a freakin break dude. I notice that at every opportunity almost in every thread, you say things to minimize and put down this album to no end. Fine, you dont like the record, but you keep saying that in various forms almost all the time. You also said you didnt like us Rush fans, this forum, or the mods very vehemently. I dont get you dude. Why such spite? Why do you post on the CA forum if you hate CA so much? Your negativity is completely off the charts......way beyond just expressing opinion. He must be listening to the album, with his "STUDIO' haedphones. A very unhappy little man. It's freakin ridiculous. I should ignore him, but it's hard to when in almost every thread he's saying something or another to spite this record.....and many times he does it in not so obvious ways as try and appear innocent.....I don't know how many times I've heard him say it's only better than TFE, VT, and S and A.......and doesn't even come CLOSE to anything pre Presto...I've heard him say that in various threads over and over and over..........JESUS CHRIST!!!! Really wish there was a blocking function on this thing so I don't have to read another F### anti CA post of his again. F###!!!! Maybe he will warm up to it? LOL...I like your sense of humor..... As for you, you are cool with me. See, you don't like the album much, but you don't go about putting it down every chance you get and sticking it in people's faces and repeating the same criticism a thousand times in different threads. It's not at all about liking or not liking the album.......it's the way you talk, your tone, your attitude, etc. BTW, I know you don't like CA much, but which song do you gravitate towards? For me, CA is not perfect, but I'm enjoying it a lot...enjoying it more than any recent Rush record. That's all I can say. WAY too early to compare it to any of their decades old albums. I like about half of it.....CA, The Anarchist, and The Garden would be my favs...

  15. QUOTE (The Vigilante @ Jun 22 2012, 11:12 AM) I dont look at Rush as having a cult following to keep going thru the years. Yes i believe they had that label in the 70s... But no radio play where you listening to the radio in the 80s or just not born yet lol... I heard Tom Sawyer , Limelight , Freewill , Big Money , Show Dont tell, Roll the bones , Subdivisions ,Spirit of the Radio, Time stand still all quite exclusively during the 80s... I would say someone like Zappa needed cult following King Crimson maybe...But i dont agree with label on Rush. Just my opinion. It's hard to label them as having a "cult following" when they've sold over 40 millions albums...

  19. QUOTE (Tony R @ Jun 25 2012, 03:02 PM) Anyone who thinks ADKOT is a good Van Halen album is deluding themselves. It's like clapping when your grandad sings one of his old army songs, you clap because you love him not because he is good. I think I like this album better than CA. I certainly don't think it's great though...
