  1. QUOTE (Tombstone Mountain @ Jun 1 2012, 09:08 AM) QUOTE (eshine @ May 31 2012, 11:22 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ May 31 2012, 05:49 AM) The problem for me when he tries to sing those high parts it really tires out his vocal chords, so right after it he sounds terrible singing the low chorus in Freewill. Does that dumb yodle thing he does when his voice is tired. See, I comepletely disagree with this. Back in the late 80's, early nineties - it seemed impossible for him to even attempt those kind of vocals, so I'm thrilled that he has that sort of ghusto so late in his career, and t's not as if he's spending most of the show trying to hit notes like that. That moment in Freewill is a fun throwback to the old days - and it's a total, crowdpleasing "WOW" moment. Why fault him for that becuase he's a little shakey for a few bars on the return? Quite agree...Live performances always differ...and the quality of the performance has so many variables which can affect it. Studio wise he's delivered quality stuff and developed a little more with every album. VT gets kicked around a lot on the forums as being one of the worst albums and album efforts. However one's opinion goes, i must say that Geddy sounds passionate and emotional on that record. VT is incredible, those people are just audiophiles that wont even give it a chance. They have listened once and no more, which is absurd considering Rush albums usually need a few spins to fully conceive the greatness. If VT had better sound quality it would be positively reviewed around here, even some critics thought that VT was a great record (on Metacritic)
  2. Ugh, this forum is like me and my older brother being together...CONSTANTLY ARGUING. When this album drops I will be miles and miles away from this forum and its constant negativity. Sad thing is, this used to be a fantastic forum
  3. Seriously? Rush will never win a Grammy, especially in 2012. Im thinking that shit pop song, "Call me, Maybe" will most likely win the grammy Music nowadays is literally disgraceful and makes me feel sorry for the future of humanity.
  4. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME TO ME JUNE 12th!!!!!!
  5. QUOTE (NYM86 @ May 25 2012, 08:21 PM) Currently I am leaning towards a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup So delicious...
  6. QUOTE (dakota2112 @ May 25 2012, 09:41 AM) QUOTE (beherit @ May 25 2012, 08:02 AM) Animate! I could do without Animate live... unless they actually play it somewhere near the intended tempo of the original recording. I almost cannot tolerate hearing them play this live, because they slow it down so much and its fiery groove is totally extinguished as a result. oh btw - welcome! don't take my comment the wrong way I agree, but damn is it a fine tune! Any songs from CP would make me very happy
  7. QUOTE (Deckiller @ May 23 2012, 08:13 AM) That entire album except New World Man is epic. How New World Man made it onto the radio and is still played puzzles me to this day.... The rest of Signals is amazing..
  8. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ May 23 2012, 09:25 AM) QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 22 2012, 09:02 PM) Jerry Seinfeld is not dead.... ....but his comedic ability is. http://www.signis.net/malone/img/wiki_up/bee-movie-poster.jpg Larry David seems to be still doing very well on the other hand...best sitcom of all time Seinfeld
  9. Vapor Trail was my least favorite songs off of VT the first I heard it, now it's one of my favorites! "The sun is turning black, the world is turning grey..."
  10. It doesn't take me on a "journey" like Cygnus Book 1 and 2 or 2112, Natural science etc. Still an "epic" song, but not a Rush epic.
  11. QUOTE (gedfan @ May 3 2012, 11:24 AM) QUOTE (Drummerrobin @ May 3 2012, 10:00 AM) Btw if there was an option for lack of decent vocal melodies, that's what I would have voted for. +1 only because everything else is looking great IMO!
  12. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Apr 29 2012, 06:23 AM) Car! Also, I can't believe some of you actually own skullcandies! Aren't we all audiophiles here? Throw that dreck away! The bass with skullcandies is so awesome, really let's you hear Geddy at work. But, I agree obviously their are many many higher quality headphones.
  13. Hopefully not , I would rather hear "Animate" or "Test for Echo" or some Vapor Trails material

  15. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Apr 24 2012, 10:09 AM) QUOTE (jnoble @ Apr 24 2012, 09:59 AM) QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Apr 24 2012, 07:03 AM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 23 2012, 01:43 PM) I think what I don't like about it is the monotony. It's broken up in parts like Alex's solo (which is welcoming) but the song just plays and plays with little variety. Same reason I never really cared for Peaceable Kingdom. I get bored quickly. The song could be shorter for what it's delivering. I agree. The added length is unnecessary. Redundant verses as well as riffs. I know they like to indulge themselves, but it gets to a point where the listener gets bored and hits the "Next" button....... The Main Monkey Business falls into the catagory of "repetitive for no reason other than to be repetitive". They're usually great at writing instrumentals, but that one just chugs ON and ON and ON with no payoff or purpose. Wrong. For the first half it does, but seriously that solo? EPIC. The longer time goes on the more respect I have for Snakes and Arrows, except for the album cover . As for Bravest Face, I just gave it a listen and its still pretty damn good IMO
  16. Well I try to pace myself when it comes to singles. So I will try to put it away after a few more listens

Welcome to America and our shit taste in music So America is the only people with access to iTunes? I didn't know that How popular is The Voice in Iran ? I second this
  18. Animate is untouchable as an opening song for an album, and Counterparts is my favorite of their albums in the 90's. That being said, the production for both are great!
  19. The Chorus is freaking awesome IMO, the verses are so-so but the solo and ending make up for everything. The production is awesome as well, so excited for the album!
