  1. I remember your signature!! Holy. Crap. Blast from the past man... Such a sad day
  2. I haven't been on this forum in probably 8 or more years, but I used to be on here very regularly when rush was still a band. I was probably 16 or so when I joined this forum... Now I'm almost 29. This news is absolutely devastating... I cried thinking of what Alex and Geddy must be going through. Neil was the greatest drummer for Rush and never phoned it in. Ever. I hope everyone is doing okay... What a terrible day for all of us. Rest in peace Neil... Thank you so much for everything man.
  3. There is no worst Rush album, it is all in the eyes of the beholder since they are all so different. Test For Echo was for years my least favorite album, and in fact it was the last Rush album I bought to complete my collection of all 20. It took years to like as an album but I always loved Totem and The Color of Right. As time has gone on T4E still stayed in the bottom, but it is a great album. Dog Years is just horrible though, let's just pretend that never happened
  4. Here Again is only good because its Rush showing what they would give later on in their career, I think its pretty plodding personally. Then again, im not too crazy about their debut album—and absolutely obsessed with everything after
  5. About to blow some minds on here because I love the songs everyone hates: Rush: "Here Again" Fly by Night: By-Tor and the Snow Dog Caress of Steel: I Think Im Going Bald 2112: Tears A Farewell to Kings: Madrigal Hemispheres: Cygnus X-1 Book II (Took me years to even like the song, except for the epic finale) Permanent Waves: "Freewill" Moving Pictures: "YYZ" Signals: "The Weapon" Grace Under Pressure: "Red Lenses" Power Windows: "Territories" Hold Your Fire: "High Water" Presto: "Superconductor" Roll The Bones: "Where's my Thing?" Test for Echo: "Dog Years" (Easiest choice by far) Vapor Trails: "Freeze" Snakes and Arrows: "Spindrift" Clockwork Angels: "BU2B2" This was INCREDIBLY hard to do, and most of these songs listed I really like. Except for Dog Years of course
  6. Hand over Fist is in my top 10 most played Rush songs...for a summer I listened to it almost every day on my way to class. Great song, even though Presto as a whole is fairly weak. Its mostly its production—if it was remixed correctly I think it would do wonders for the album. Songwriting wise, its top notch as always by Rush. Bottom 10 album for me, but I still love it dearly
  7. Ringo Starr top 10? Is this a freaking joke? Talk about playing it safe...the guy didn't do anything new in drumming
  8. CA is phenemonal, and as usual is a unique piece in the incredible discography Rush has provided us. I think it would be tough to top, but I KNOW that if / when they release their next album it will continue to be unique and amazing. Almost two years since CA release, and it has only grown on me. I just listened to Headlong Flight, and at first it wasn't my favorite at all—BUT as time has gone on, it truly is a great song. We only have things to be thankful for from this band, but not everyone will be pleased by what they release. Those same people probably aren't easily pleased in other aspects of life as well in my opinion.
  9. Available Light or Resist accoustic for sure. But wow do I love slow Rush songs—magical!
  10. Snakes and Arrows is magnificant. I have had so many fond memories listening to this album, and for that reason I adore it. That being said, it is not Rush's best album—but it is very well produced. Probably bottom 3 of all their albums, but it is still an incredible album. That just goes to show how amazing Rush is—a fairly weak album in their history, yet still a phenomenal album throughout.
  11. Rush without a freaking doubt is the greatest band of all time. Being 15 and discovering this band was almost the best thing that ever happened to me. Every album I picked up I fell in love with—and for their differences! I could not believe that one band could be so talented, and continue to hone its craft and grow as time went on. I have now seen them 3 times live ( I know small sample size ) but being 22 now I can say I have NEVER missed them on a tour and NEVER will. Most people dont read my posts on here and thats fine, but this forum went WAY downhill about 5 years ago. I feel like its a constant competition on here for "who is the biggest rush fan" and the classic fans who hate everything post Counterparts gets REALLY REALLY REALLY old. When you were on this forum expressing your hate for Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows I was too busy living my teenage life BLARING these albums with a smile on my face. These most recent albums mean the world to me, and I can tell you when I am old and grey that these albums will still hit me right in the chest EVERYTIME. Go on, tell me how Hemispheres was the greatest thing since slized bread—and I will stand tall telling you how much these new albums mean to me and my life. Rush is the GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME. No band will ever mean as much to me as they do—truy have changed the way I observe the world and music will never be the same when they decide to finally hang them up.
  12. Acoustic Resist, maybe Tears. Honestly, Rush doesnt seem to fit those moments. Way too much rocking out lol
  13. :goodone: i was SHOCKED when it came out. i was so excited after waiting 6 long years for a new album. yeah, T4E was their weakest effort to date, but after the mediocre presto and RTB they pulled out a winner with CP, so I thought maybe they could recapture the old magic again. i thought maybe it just needed time to grow on me, but after the 2nd or 3rd or 4th listen the despair really hit. i was crushed - just really devastated. i was actually listening to the unthinkable - an outright "BAD" rush album. i too don't know how it ever got released. my mind still boggles. thank god for S&A and CA! I just have a hard time understanding the strong hate for Vapor Trails, yet you like Snakes and Arrows? Mind boggling. How is "Spindrift" any better than any song on Vapor Trails? I am not saying S & A is a weak album, but its not much better than VT at all production values aside. Vapor Trails is a hard rock Rush album, maybe you're just too soft to handle it! :P
  14. Counterparts is insanely good—a kick ass album and top 7 at least. T4E is a weak album no doubt, but I do love many of the songs on it. Especially: Totem (unique jam), RESIST (seriously people?!), Half the World (LOVE this song), The Color of Right. I have never been a fan of Driven even though I love the bass work on it and the lyrics, and Test for Echo is an okay song. Vapor Trails, love the album but will agree that it is in their bottom 10. Vapor Trails is a better album—but its a close call.
  15. Yes, I love it. However, it took a few listens before I finally "got it". The way the song climaxes is what I like about it most. Agreed, it took probably 13 listens for me to finally get the song—I like the hook on it but after that it falls stale for me. It is tied with Freeze or Nocturne—and I like both of those songs a decent amount. The guitar work on Freeze is awesome, and the beginning of Nocturne is amazing—the rest of both are lacking in my opinion.
  16. I didnt know this was a regular ordeal lol. My apologies
  17. sadly, this is the opinion of far too many rush fans. if you don't fit into ____ box, you're not a real rush fan. srsly, dude? yes, i hate vt. there are there other albums that i think are sub-par. there are 15 of them that i truly love. they've been my favorite band since you were negative ten years old. i first saw them live when you were negative nine. if that's not good enough for you, then you're entitled to your ridiculous point of view. How does my age have anything to do with it? I have been a massive fan since I was 15, and the only album I do not fully love is their debut. I made this thread wondering why VT got such a low ranking around here besides the production value—not pointed directly at you it was for everyones opinion. I get that you do not like the album, thats fine—but honestly, this album rocks freaking socks off. We can agree to disagree here because you'll always hate the album—but calling it an embarassment is simply ridiculous in my opinion. One Little Victory is featured on a Need for Speed videogame—if it was good enough for the masses to enjoy then its good enough for me. Glad you enjoy S & A and CA though—many found them extremely lacking.
  18. I know that you are known for hating this album, but explain this to me: how is Ghost Rider or One Little Victory a bad Rush song? Seriously, if you do not like those songs then you do not like Rush. Yes, I said it. I know multiple people who love the song Ghost Rider, and do not even like Rush. Therefore, if you would get over being so picky about "production values" and actually listen to the music with an open mind you would find that this album is great. Or, you could continue to simply post a facepalm. Your choice.
  19. Why is Vapor Trails considered a weaker album, production values aside? I believe that VT is just as strong as Clockwork Angels—and Geddy's vocals are outstanding in every track. Ghost Rider, Vapor Trails, Sweet Miracle, How it is, Ceiling Unlimited, Freeze—seriously this album is awesome! Why the hate?
  20. 2112 or Vapor Trails, man do I love both those songs. Every song in this list is epic though
  21. Halo Effect anyone? "Little by little I burned" AMAZING. Chills every time—Resist accoustic live, also amazing. Geddy is incredible
  22. Best vocals? No idea, I can say some of my favorite vocals come from Snakes and Arrows and Vapor Trails though. Yes, the thousand Geddy's! :laughing guy:
  23. Is Rush finally cool? I love this band so much lol
  24. This is incredibly hard: 1. Counterparts 2. 2112 3. Signals 4. Grace Under Pressure 5. Hold Your Fire / Snakes and Arrows / Clockwork Angels / Roll The Bones / Power Windows / MP PW
  25. Neils drumming at first was what hooked me, then I began playing bass and realized that Geddy too was an insanely amazing player. Since then, Rush has been the soundtrack to my life and I adore every song by them except for Dog Years
