  1. My condolences to all who were in any way involved or related to this. Having concerts go on when they know it will be rainy and windy is STUPID! This concert should have been cancelled and everyone should have been told to leave as soon as they knew about the weather.
  2. They should use them again. That and the Polymoog.
  3. Two extremely great musicians and some of the coolest musicians. Met them both and can say they are both class acts as people. Could not wish for nicer guys. Shame some people are not as appreciative of their fans. Anyway, nice chat and jam. Check it out:
  4. The Great Gig In The Sky. Pink Floyd is one of the reasons I simply cannot get into Dream Theater or Porcupine Tree. Pink Floyd is timeless and it does not get much better than them.
  5. QUOTE (GrandDesigner @ Aug 10 2011, 12:57 PM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Aug 10 2011, 06:15 AM) Agree on Psychosane. What the heck is up with the stupid MF line? Idiotic and completely contrived...and it ruins probably the best song of a very average bunch of tunes. First that stupid voice on A Nightmare to Remember, now this. WHY THE PISSFART DOES PORTNOY INSIST ON DOING THAT HORRIBLE VOICE!?? It doesn't make it sound more 'tough' or 'metal'...it just sounds goofy, childish, and awkward Immature, stupid and childish beyond belief. And people used to say he was going to be the next Neil?
  6. QUOTE (Akron162 @ Aug 12 2011, 10:18 PM) QUOTE (The_Necromancer_77 @ Aug 12 2011, 10:12 PM) Dope song. Found it a few years ago through a friend, and forgot about it until I heard it on the radio last month. Arthur Brown's a really interesting guy Super influential too. i only like that song because carl palmer is on drums. No it is not. Carl has said it is a guy named Drachen Thieker. Carl is in the video, but said he is not on the recorded version of the song. Sorry. It bummed me out too. I thought it was Carl too.
  7. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Aug 10 2011, 02:48 PM) I did buy a ticket to see them on Sept. 19 per my previous post. Smaller venue (650 or so seats) and general admission seating so should get reasonably close and all. I went for it based on a couple of posts on this thread recommending them even at this later stage of their careers. I'll post some thoughts afterwards. Never seen them so definitely looking forward to it. . . . Seeing Montrose at the same venue the night before too and have never seen them either (no Hagar of course). Should be a lot of fun. Enjoy it. It will be a great show.
  8. I read this too. Jon your in my prayers and thoughts. You'll be fine man.
  9. Shows what happened when you kids do a man's job.

Here is my list: Chain Lightning Face Up Open Secrets Neurotica Madrigal The Speed of Love Lessons I Think I'm Going Bald Rivendell Good News First You Bet Your Life INTERMISSION Alien Shore Anagram (for Mongo) Emotion Detector Losing It Bravest Face Tai Shan Second Nature The Big Wheel Nocturne Everyday Glory Different Strings Freeze (Part IV of Fear) Hand Over Fist (with drum solo) Carve Away The Stone High Water We Hold On ENCORE Color Of Right Available Light No chance I could sit through that......that's a LOT of crud...... I think I almost might turn down going to see Rush if I knew that would be the set list... You must be one of these people who just want to hear Closer To The Heart and Tom Sawyer on every tour. there is on that set list many of the worst Rush's songs. It would be painful evening... Dude! It is to hear something different! Doesn't everybody get tired of hearing the same old songs nearly every tour? And no, you're wrong. Those are all great songs. They just are not as popular as the "hits". There are lots of songs I did not include such as Out Of The Cradle, that should never be played. Those songs I listed such as Chain Lightning and Available Light are some of Rush's best songs.
  11. Ed wrote a really good mallet book back in the late 80's.

  14. There's a new MSG album with Simon Phillips recorded at the Budokan. Live in Tokyo 30th Anniversary Japan Tour. http://www.amazon.com/Michael-Schenker-Gro...12835272&sr=8-3 Seems to be a DVD too. http://www.amazon.com/Michael-Schenker-Gro...12835138&sr=8-1 Got the CD but have not listened to it yet.

  16. Just don't see many like him anymore. None in fact. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkrau35W2Fs

    Rush fans are we

QUOTE (The_Necromancer_77 @ Aug 8 2011, 12:33 AM) definitely different. you can really tell when you're at a concert. Yeah, we seem to bond. Everyone seems cool with each other. Fights use to break out at AC/DC and Motley Crue concerts I heard (never went to one, never will). Never seen anything like that at a Rush concert.

We are. No doubt. Some people do not understand us and don't deserve to. I am not talking about parents. They are cool and usually understand our devotion even if it is not their thing. However, siblings can be idiots, thinking we need to "grow up" if we have been listening to Rush for over 30 years, while they have "grown up" to listening to Country music.
  19. I GUARANTEE that Neil got paid for this. A LOT!
  20. QUOTE (softfilter @ Aug 5 2011, 01:06 AM) Been listening to Mechanix and The Wild The Willing and The Innocent on my ipod as of late. Seen UFO & Cheap Trick 1981? Richfield Coliseum that was one great concert!! Yeah, those are great albums. Those and No Place To Run. I learned in the great book UFO Shoot Out The Lights by Martin Popoff, who also wrote Contents Under Pressure: 30 Years of Rush at Home and Away that UFO were real into heroin at this point.
  21. Another one of the greats. Known as "Big" Sid Catlett because of his height (probably about 6'5) he was highly influential on Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson and others. No double bass pedals, no triggers, no revolving drum risers. No smoke and mirrors,. Just Big Sid and his drums.
  22. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Aug 7 2011, 07:32 AM) As for the "creepy" lyrics... Jon Anderson says the song is about how death might be as beautiful and positive an experience as birth, with nothing to be frightened of, nothing to fear. That's very encouraging!
