Just did my first half marathon in Nashville (Country Music Marathon), in 4 inches of rainfall... cold, too but loved the experience, will do more. Girlfriend did her 5th Marathon too. Enjoyed the heck out of broadway's honky tonks. (with all the hills and rain I came in at 2.00.03, )

Ozric Tentacles-Jurassic Shift(Title Track)

I'd highly rec STRANGITUDE, especially White Rhino Tea. This, to me, is their best work. -
@ Jennings, I agree with your statements regarding known risk and occupational hazzards. However, If info was available and not given to players by the league, that is another story. To me, as I have posted before in the Seau thread, it comes down to what the NFL and Players agreement is regarding the research, knowledge, and dissemination of that knowledge, as to whether or not these players have a legit reason to file a lawsuit.

my buddy used to wail on his guitar to KD all the time when i was in high school... when I actually listened to the lyrics I was scared Sh!tless! I'll never forget walking home through fog on a cold fall eve (through the woods!!) the first time I really understood what was going on in Abigail. barely listen anymore but definitley appreciate the talent. IMO great production too. the whole package!

third hand grace replied to alphseeker's topic in One Little Victory
oh its not over yet! There is a MAJOR reaction to this and a Petition is being circulated in the US. I assume similar Petitions aaround the world (?) I hope there is enough ground swell to halt their actions! (cuz Olympic lifting will be next and thats my baby) -
Sorry to jump in and disrupt the flow of this thread, but just wanted to say that I will be doing my first half marathon at the Rock and Roll Series: St. Jude NASHVILLE Country Music Marathon. My GF is doing the full ( which I have no interest in LOL). ANY RUSH FANS doing this one???

@ P Man, I know of ZERO coaches in the NFL/ college that "teach' players to launch. The game is faster than people realize unless you stand on the sideline. Players can not micro-position their bodies to avoid helmet contact as easily as you think at the speed the game is played at. Additionally, I wouldn't want a player who fears getting hurt, or hurting the other player, becuase then they wouldn't go full speed at that is precisely what causes some injuries. @ Alph, my team only goes hard Tues/wed, and on those days we go w/ a quick whistle and NEVER take players to the ground. Most colleges that I know of do the same, and in the NFL (other than the rookies) there is extremely limited contact. ( this might be WHY P Man feels they "launch" etc!)

I'm in this business. I have coached NFL kids, etc. I have a very difficult time w/ pointing the finger at others. It is a COLLISION sport, not a "contact sport" like baseball. Everyone knows from age of about 7 years old that the game can do damage to your body... parents from the earliest ages have to sign waivers. Helmets must have a NOCSAE (spelling?) sticker on them that warns of the dangers. All GOOD coaches (at all levels) teach kids how to be safe ( again reminding them of the possible dangers). Kids know, so how can NFL players NOT know what can happen? What did the SEAU family do ON THEIR OWN to determine the effects of playing the game? WHY IN AMERICA NOWADAY DOES IT FALL ON OTHERS SHOULDERS TO BE RESPONSIBLE? Blame others for your troubles, don't take responsibility, point the finger at someone else. Its sad and cowardly IMO and all too common in our nation. BUT.. IF the NFL is structured and designed in a way in which they (by their own admission, etc.) HAVE a plan/code of conduct/policies to study effects of collisions on the body/brain and are, by those policies, supposed to educate their players and DID NOT... THEN EVERY PLAYER SHOULD FILE A LAWSUIT !! I don't know the inner working of the NFL as a employer, this I feel is the crux of the situation. What is the agreement between payers and league/owners regarding education/health etc.

I coached a kid who plays ay ND now. I'm just going to say that he and MANY players dislike Te'o. I haven't spoken w/ him since the story broke, but did see him post asskicking. Actually my kid played very well in the game.

I got into them after reading a blurb of how they were "Rush meets Maiden"... That was in a review of Awaken. I was REALLY into them until after No Exit. I saw them live at a club in chicago called medusa's way back when. Ray had just become the singer. They ROCKED. We actually met them and had a long conversation, seemed like very cool people. I can't put my finger on what it was that made me drift of but I kept buying and hoping for something to resonate but the last few I probably only listened to a few times. Might have to pull the cd's out and give them another spin. Thanks for bringing up some great memories!

The Green Bay Packers Thread
third hand grace replied to Principled Man's topic in One Little Victory
Packers fans should be proud... I'm a Steeler fan, but have nothing but love for the Pack, and feel that you Packer fans should hear this quick story: I am a HS football coach in Illinois, and our school just won a state championship. The Championship Ring that our kids wanted has a green "G" on the face (our helmet has a green 'G' on sides), and the ring company (who also makes NFL rings) didn't want to make our rings due to potential copyright infringement! We contacted the Packers and very quickly after contemplating the situation they have given us permission to go ahead w/ the design. They even sent us a letter congratulating us. A classy organization, understood our tradition of the G and realized that it is no threat to their trademark. -
in Movie TED, when they are younger and in bedroom, there is a jurassic park poster and also a STARMAN poster. sorry if already posted
