  1. it's over. best case is something similar to yes on rrhof or whatever alex is up to.
  2. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bl_E_aOAtKs/?hl=en&taken-by=paulrodgersofficial ged and paul lookin like they just got off the train at Bangkok. not sure how to post the pic
  3. We all know neil is neil, but I am surprised the management allowed him to travel by bike. a lot of pro athletes and other people who rely on being functional have a clause in their contract stating what they can and cant do. if he would have crashed it would have cost some big bucks
  4. this doesn't actually qualify as a cover but it does kind of. I would have liked to see ged tour with the who.
  5. someone needs to tell alex that rush can and did stop.
  6. why is neil such an ass? ok someone had to do it. I'll let myself out
  7. Rush is done. best you can hope for now is solo work.
  8. ged is playing like a beast but time to hang up the vocals.
  9. i will stick with the senior citizens crowd ged jon Anderson rik emmet and bill bruford maybe stewart Copeland.
  10. why would it be a big deal if they continued on as rush with a new drummer? if they can replace him with someone as good or better so be it. now as far as lyrics then yes as I have said before they need neil. not to mention ged and al can be bought. think of the most outrageous dollar amount you can think of and then think of them saying no we are too loyal to "the band" it aint gonna happen. If the money is right they will tour as rush with a new drummer.
  11. the who is going out next year for their 50th anniversary tour, ged should fill in on a few shows.
  12. alex said him and ged are ready to start working again. no mention of neil from either of them. on a side note, ged keeping score cards all the way back from the 80's that's a hard core fan.
  13. most people would not know the difference with an exceptional enough drummer. I have no idea who that could/would be but I am sure there is someone out there that can do the job as well maybe better.
  14. its a bigger change replacing the singer compared to a drummer. no comparison at all. if you heard a new "rush" song sample online with a different drummer most purist probably wouldnt know the difference.
  15. I don't see what the big deal is in replacing neil even for a studio album. yes he is a great drummer but I am sure there are plenty of other drummers out there as good or better than him. as far as lyrics then yes they would need neil for the "intellectual type" of lyrics but to play everything else he is not needed.
  16. the only positive from the drum solo is that it gives geds voice a rest and us time for a beer. otherwise pretty lame. I would rather have another song in its place or at least an instrumental. now the 70's and 80's yes it was good and worked well but after that not that great.
  17. I am pretty sure as long as neil gets royalties out of the deal, he would be fine with ged and al touring as rush with another drummer. I don't think he would lose any sleep over it.
  18. I think most fans are good with neil retiring and family time and all that. its the way he did it that has most fans and from what we can tell ged a little upset. they had to persuade him financially along with all of his demands just to tour at all. it sounds like the rush camp was wanting to extend the tour and play a little more but he was like my way or no way. again this is coming from people who seem to be close to the band and posting on the forum. so take it how ever you want.
  19. it's like I have said before. it's a 3 man band and one the guys quit. so they find someone else and move on. new rush music would most likely require neil at least for lyrics.
  20. Really now? He has been the primarily (more accurately nearly sole) lyricist for more than 40 years. They are going to find a drummer and a lyricist that fits the expectations and brand of the band? One the fans will accept? And the long time, die hard fans are going to go for this? The long time, die hard fans (the ones who actually buy the bulk of the tickets) are going to stand for a Rush show without a drum solo.... or worse, someone other than Peart doing a drum solo at Rush concert? And please don't say "Portnoy". When they went through their very extended hiatus after the tragedies, Neil made it very clear he was done and the fact he came back was something slightly short of miraculous. Alex and Ged did not work together on any musical projects as Rush during the hiatus, but released solo work. But this time they are going to change their mind? Particularly nearly 20 years later and older? Particularly given Alex' own health concerns? Both Alex and Ged have made it very clear that Rush is a three piece band with three specific members. But they are apparently lying? Here's the thing.... they may do a one-off festival show in the future (although doubtful). They may do a short residency thing (would be more likely given their perfectionist nature and a one-off has too many risks). They may even record together as Rush (although this creates expectations of touring, so more doubtful). But there is no reason to believe they aren't done touring. I would contend that people who think Alex and Ged are willing to go on as "Rush" without Neil grossly underestimate the brotherhood among these men. new rush music would require neil but tour with their 40 years of music without neil not hard to do.
  21. most of the forum makes it sound like the band is dependent on neil. he would be easy to replace. they could find a drummer as good or better and go out and tour and they probably will someday.
  22. unless alex and neil run out of money, you have seen the last rush tour
