  1. Sabbath, easily. That 6-album run to start their career inspires awe. I love a few King Crimson albums, but the debut isn't one of them.
  2. LOL at some still trying to say that To the Bone is a pop record. Ghost has some good tunes, but that's still a couple hundred behind Wilson. This isn't even a fair fight.
  3. It is hard to pick. Both are in my all-time top 20. I think Kansas had a better peak, but BOC was good for a longer period of time and every single one of their albums has at least few really good songs.
  4. Two of my favorite musicians of the last 25 years, along with a few others. I voted for Devin just to give him some love since SW will likely win this by a lot.
  5. No. DeYoung was an actual songwriter rather than merely a contributor, and is far more conceited than Portnoy, who is more of a humble bragger (which some would say is worse). ya think portnoy's humble? hmmmmm.......that's a tough one. Mick I said he was a "humble bragger," which means he tries to play it off like he is humble, but really he is bragging.
  6. No. DeYoung was an actual songwriter rather than merely a contributor, and is far more conceited than Portnoy, who is more of a humble bragger (which some would say is worse).
  7. Hmmm, what are the best tracks from those early Europe albums? I only have ever heard The Final Countdown and Out of This World (and like both).
  8. I've still never checked out most of the first album, but I like most of High 'n' Dry and Pyromania, and I do like the majority of Hysteria, although I hope I never hear Pour Some Sugar On Me ever again.
  9. This. Sherinian has shown himself to be a monster douche in the last six months, which pretty came out of nowhere. I don't think Portnoy is a bad guy per se, but he's just extremely touch and sensitive, and gets bent out of shape over just about anything that he perceives as a slight against him.
  10. Still Life, although I have much love for Ghost Reveries and Pale Communion as well. Blackwater Park, Damnation and Watershed are also up there.
  11. Sometimes, a lot of people like a big lop of shit. Kiss is a good example of one of those shitty things a lot of people like. Like Nickelback, the Kardashians and peanut butter.
  12. GHOST > KISS ???? Despite having an absurd gimmick, Ghost actually has some really good songs. Kiss has nothing but shit.
  13. Love the Moodies. Arguably THE first progressive rock band. R.I.P. Ray Thomas.
  14. Eh, most of the 12-step suite songs are average DT tunes, and even as a whole, the suite is tedious and repetitive. And the laugher is, when you look at how childish Portnoy has acted since leaving the band, it's obvious that he learned nothing from the lyrics he wrote.
  15. Kiss sucks big time anyway, and them being raging a-holes just makes them suck more. The ultimate gimmick/no substance band.
  16. Rock the Night from The Final Countdown was actually played a lot on MTV as well, as were Open Your Heart and Let the Good Times Rock from Out of This World (that also had Superstitious). Out of This World actually has a lot of good deep cuts.
  17. Priest should obviously be in, but the dimwits who run the Hall clearly have little regard for most metal bands. The Moody Blues induction was long overdue. I am not much of a Bon Jovi fan outside of Slippery When Wet, but they had a ton of commercial success and Livin' on a Prayer has withstood the test of time as one of the most loved rock songs of the 80s, so their inclusion was just a matter of time.
  18. That is only a problem if your expectations are unrealistic. The Edge is not a technical player or one who is flashy or feels the need to solo. No one listens to U2 expecting to be wowed by technical guitar playing or beastly soloing, but his playing is very innovative and quite unique. He developed a sound and style that is all his own, which is not easy to do with the electric guitar. Are there times where I wish he could cut loose a little and let it rip? Hell yeah, but I am fine with it when he doesn't because he does plenty of great stuff already. Remember, he is the man who wrote Where the Streets Have No Name. That alone makes him a legend.
  19. I mostly agree with this. It is mostly a nice listen, with the exception of the shitty American Soul and a couple bland tunes near the end, but I don't see anything on this being one of those U2 songs that you just have to have. And I liked most of Songs of Innocence, and think that had a few keepers (The Troubles, Every Breaking Wave, Iris and the bonus track Crystal Ballroom).
  20. The new album seems to be a mixed bag, thus far. Love Is All We Have Left is a cool song, but one that ends too soon. Red Flag Day has a really catchy chorus. That one has definitely grabbed me. American Soul is one of the biggest pieces of shit I've heard in years. What a dreadfully boring chorus.
  21. Mullen has never been much of a drummer, but every time you see him now, he looks bored out of his mind. Watch the video for The Blackout. That is an upbeat, rocking song, and he looks like he'd rather be anywhere else.
  22. Hard to take any list seriously that has three same guys from the same band as 1-3. Based on what I have seen or heard, I think guys I would put in the conversation would be Brian May, Neal Morse and Devin Townsend.
  23. I saw them back in the 90s when they did a co-headlining tour with ELP. and they were good, but I wouldn't go see them again. Tull is one of those bands I've always liked, but never went crazy over.
