It's really an actors' tour de force, but the plot is somehow... misplaced? I couldn't say. There's a scene that is totally theatre, with the two actors talking to each other for more than 20 minutes all in one take. But still, you don't get into the psychology of the character. But maybe it was the point. Anyway recommended.

Anything more would be a spoiler since the movie is all about challenging the viewer's expectations, until the big revelation at the end. It's not bad, just kinda workman-like. Some hotness if you're into asian girls.

I remember it was the early 80s, I was a total virgin of anything that wasn't top 10, and then one night this video came up on our proto-Mtv of those days... These serious, emotionless faces, the menacing vibe, the sinister atmosphere, the fact that it was all faces... It scared me, haunted me, picked my curiosity and surely jump-started me in a new path of discovery of music. I even used it in my classes.

Hey Pete! No way, Chris dead?! I had no idea! RIP. You know, living in small town Italy and before the internet, I would listen to these records and have absolutely NO IDEA of how the singers looked like! I had to make up their faces in my mind just listening to the voices. For example, Colin Blunstone had the face of a very very old guy in my imagination, kinda like Gandalf! Because he has this deep, "old man" voice. Another vocalist I made up the appearence was Elmer Gantry, he looked like a spaced-out hippie, because of the vibe I would get from Psychobabble and Maybe a Price. Earl, I actually love Ammonia Avenue. It's the last great APP album for me. Sure, the orchestra is very tuned down, there's electronic drums and it has some failed pop songs like One More Reason, but Pipeline and the title track are super, Let me Go Home is fuc**in heavy and Prime Time is stellar. If you want guitar, check out Ian Bairnson's solo in that song! It's one of the best guitar solos ever!!

Hey Earl!! To think it took so long to have an official APP thread!! The first album, Tales of Mistery, is totally prog, with even an orchestral suite on side 2. It's still one of my favourite albums ever. I Robot is hit or miss for me, side 1 is nearly perfect, side 2 a total nonsense apart the two last instrumentals. Pyramid is good, solid, with some masterpieces (In the Lap of the Gods, another prog gem with boleros, choirs and all) and some ill-thought efforts (Pyramania). Eve is probably the weakest APP album, with just one great piece, Lucifer, and a lot of sentimental crap. Turn of a Friendly Card is "uncompromised Eye in the Sky", it's the last step before taking the pop route. Another suite in 5 movements on side 2, it's another great album. They are all out there with bonus tracks and all so go get them!

I just love this movie! The pacing is great and it features my favourite Movie-President of the USA ever. Also, Melvin "Ninotcha" Douglas as the voice of conscience. Great stuff.

I love Live at Leeds but in my opinion nothing captures The Who better than Live at the Isle of Wight.

Is it true you have to go through Full Metal Jacket training to truly become a great? Is it the only way? I had artistic training when I was in my 20s. One teacher would be a real SoB and push me, another one would be a "good job" (see the movie to understand what it means) kinda guy. I hated the guts of the first one, but by the end of the year I had made a HUGE jump in quality. I loved the other one, but probably sat on my laurels during his classes, never going beyond average results. But to these days, I still treasure the latter's teachings more. All the former did was give me technique. Something I still carry with me as well. So I just stuck my foot in my mouth. What do you think?

A very good episode, I truly enjoyed it. I love restless Floki, he's probably the best charachter, and I also love the fact that they have Ragnar talking more. During the 2nd season he would just STARE and you'd think he'd gone nuts. But that probably was the point of the authors. I always find it takes a lot of piss off the English. They are always made to look like amateurs in military things, while the Vikings are these savage Wolverines. Coming from History Channell, I suppose there's some research in that, it's just that I never imagined ancient english rulers would be so clueless from a strategic PoW.

What do you think of Gran Parade? Great, I didn't notice it was an epic the first listen-through since it was without viewing whatever track it was I was on. I find myself listening to this album as a whole opera more and more, without paying attention to single songs. As a matter of fact, I still haven't learned the titles of the songs! I have to say anyway that the bonus track DIstant Memories should have been a single, not a bonus track!

What do you think of Gran Parade?

Charlie is great and all, but noone will ever make it past my love for the Beatles, so Ringo wins even over Bruford and Giles and Mastelotto and Harrison and every one else. Only Moonie tops him, because I love The Who a little more.

I just can't stand Sting and his house in Tuscany, I know it's a prejudice but I can't make it past it and enjoy their music. Every time I hear Sting's voice I want to kick him.

It's just a phase, man. A couple of years back, everyone and their sisters was in love with it. Now I can see the most vocal lovers, like losingit2k and Tombstone, still haven't answered yet, so maybe their will pour their love in. Just to laugh it off, Mick, are you trying to steal Goober's thunder? :lol:

It's my first BG album, so I can't make any comparisions, but all I can say is: I love it!

If Treeduck or another one of my pals here had come up a month ago and told me: you're going to LOVE the new Blind Guardian album, I'd have send them to climb a tree. But here it is: I have had it on heavy rotation for a week now, and I really love it. The why is simple: it's the best Dio album you'll ever hear in 2015. The way Hansi Kürsch sings "These fools will fade away" in Distant Memories is pure Heaven and Hell. The way he screams "sail away" on opener The Ninth Wave is totally Sign of the Southern Cross. If you're into the mood for some muscular, unashamed power epic metal, do yourself a favour and listen to it!

There's really no Berlin Wall for me. I'll snatch a Gabriel bit here and dance to a Collins tune there. I'm free baby!!

I liked it, it's like a new take on the classic "tough guy revenge" movie with a lot of posh thrown in and some post-black humor. I don't think a Russian would like it, but maybe... Keanu is good. Not stellar but good. I kept imagining Steve McQueen starring in his place.
