  1. Just look for the YBG or Yukon Blade Grinder tag and read for yourself... It's funny, genius, irritating, a waste of time and cyberspace. Depends who you ask.
  2. Hola Amigo, Happy Birthday!! Rocco is currently stranded on a desert Island doing a Reality Show but sends a picture: http://s3.stliq.com/c/m/5/56/32678674_isola-dei-famosi-10-rocco-suoi-fardelli-0.png
  3. Yeah, I guess we discussed this last year!
  4. It's that time of year again!! A grreat METAL! birthday!!
  5. Lateralis and The Grudge as favourite songs. Wings for Marie another good one. As far as Perfect Circle, the first song from 13th step, what's the title?
  6. http://i.imgur.com/AGGTlYe.jpg?1 Surprisingly... english! Really, the lost art of dialogue! Great movie, worth watching.
  7. http://www.nerdlikeyou.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/night-at-the-museum-3-poster-e1418726472161.jpg It was my first Night at the Museum movie and I have to say, it's almost compelling. When Williams jumps aboard the horse, it had me in tears. It drags a bit and it's all over-acted, but that's the point I think. Also I can't help but notice that Stiller talks like the guru of a self-help group. Do Americans really talk like that today? Great Hugh Jackman cameo taking the pi$$ off himself.
  8. Nice! The guitar is too much fuzzbox for my taste, but the singer has some chops! Maybe if he joined a better band (eh eh...). One of the things few understand is that to make War Pigs right you GOTTA make Luke's Wall right.
  9. A lot of folks tried their teeth on War Pigs, from Bathory to (gasp!) Cat Power to the guy in the bedroom across your wall. There are many great takes on the song out there, and many dreadful versions as well. Why not share some? This is by far my favourite: although very minimalistic in the approach, it manages to convey the cold-heartedness, the alienated cruelty of "The Generals" and the madness of war. Another one that comes with Tony Iommi's seal of approval, nonetheless:
  10. I agree a lot with you, especially about Eve being the "bad" jewel in the crown. To think they had the two female vocalists from Dark Side of the Moon and gave them Shania Twain throwaway songs to sing... Still can't make my mind up about that. The best thing on Eye in the Sky is Silence and I and owes a lot to Andrew Powel incredible arrangements. What about Freudiana? There's some good stuff there as well!
  11. To keep this thread alive I'm posting one of the best and most underrated guitar solos ever. Sure, it's no Vatriani fancy fancy technical wankery, but it's got melody, a powerful energy and makes me feel good anytime I listen to it. So here it goes... http://youtu.be/Y5HQM9190o4?t=2m37s
  12. You don't have 40.000 posts. You only have 3000. Stop bragging. :P :P :P :P :P    Close enough! But no cigar? ;) ;)

  14. The only paragon I feel comfortable making is between the first albums, inasmuch as both bands on the get-go produced something bigger, wilder, heavier, weirder, rawer, unexplicably "different" than everything else. The difference being that the Sabs were truly rookies, while Page and Jones were old studio dogs. Still, both the albums are there as something so much greater than what the bands that recorded them were thinking they were making at the time. You'll get people talking about the technique, the sound, the fact that Page was more evil than Ozzy could ever dream to be, but really Paranoid blows II away for sheer sound power and darkness, although, of course, Moby Dick is the definitive drum solo and Rat Salad isn't. That said, in my 20s it was Zep all the time, but now is Sabs all around. Sorry, Percy.
  15. I've never seen this before - wonder if it's still available? On the internet you can find the scans easily... I don't think it's in paperback format, not that I'd know... You can probably find the original comic book in good shops.
  16. It's "just" 11 years for us, but really, we feed off each other. I spent 20 years working in an agency, poisonous place full of poisonous people, and all I wanted every day was to come home to the missus. And in December I got the proverbial kick. It will really be hard on finances, but health, like they say, is more important... or not?
  17. It's a great piece of pop culture and funny as anything. It even crossed over to other media, like this: http://www.dialbforblog.com/archives/493/batman222june1970.jpg Which takes a U-turn on the theory... http://static.gigwise.com/gallery/9563423_Thebeatlespaulmaccartney.jpg
  18. Blame it to Earl and his insane posts. I reply on a whim and here it goes, I'm a Professor without even noticing, or even striving towards it. There's great music in the forum lately: thankfully the windows have been opened and the stale air is gone. We go from jazz to New Order to Priest and that's the way it should be. Let's keep it on!! On a personal note: big changes in HPL mansion these past months. I've entered the golden halls of freelancercy (translation: I've been dropped), which means I work from home with my wife. The happiness factor is off the charts, the bank may have something to say about it though. It might be hard in the future. Maybe I will relocate, away from Sinking Ship Italy. Who knows? Gotta enjoy what you got while you have it.
  19. I love it. Not so easy to explain why, though. First of all there's the bass line, funky, deep, full. You can tap to it. You can whistle it. Also, the dynamics of the song, the full-stop sampled-Hammond chord, the background acoustic guitar in the chorus. It's all about the music for me, I don't pay much attention to the lyrics. The rap section is ok. This is how I love the song on my own. Also, there's the fact that it's the Rush song my wife loves to dance to. So, aside from what the song gives to me, there's this "shared memory" added value.
  20. What a great way to start the end of my day. I may be up very, very late tonight... Thanks man! Then allow me to ROCK your day off with... Man, how I love that guitar... it's insane!!
  21. It will probably kill you even when you ARE watching it, my friend! ;)
  22. Least I forget: a "minor" Miles but I absolutely love this: http://youtu.be/8uLPPd7qsdA
  23. I'm more of a 'Trane guy. Love Favourite Things, Blue Train... I have Ascension but really, I'm probably 45 years too young to understand it... maybe once I'm outta puberty! After watching Whiplash, I want to dig into Jo Jones. I never heard that guy.
