  1. I still haven't opened mine yet. But I just enjoy the music on the CD single instead.
  2. Mobile Fidelity by a landslide....but I don't have the Japanese pressing. I would imagine I'd have to think about that a little more if I had it.

I'm keeping mine sealed too. Although, I still like to figure out what color it is. Anyone pick up that Rush and Philosophy book yet?

Was anyone lucky enough to get the Rush 45 on Independent Record Store day? I struck out that day, but I'm trading the Opeth 45 that I found that day for Carvan/BU2B.

QUOTE (jebren72 @ Apr 4 2011, 06:20 PM) A separate site or forum or thread seems kind of unnecessary since you can just put stuff on Ebay, post about it on here, and everyone gets some sort of protection and knows about the item if they're interested. Purchasing on here gives the buyer no recourse if they dont get the item, and the seller none if the person claims they never got what they paid for. Also I doubt the moderators of this forum would want to moderate disputes-nor should they have to. I agree that the moderators shouldn't need to get involved (unless they are interested too) I generally don't use Ebay myself because most of the time the prices tend to be inflated and not very reasonable. Perhaps that's the cost of having "protection." I've bought/sold/traded with some people on this forum and a few other forums without incident for years. Of course, this doesn't mean that everyone here shares the same spirit of community that others may. My diatribe doesn't really have much to do with signed items anyway. I've only ever traded for one signed item myself. Too much of a minefield for me to get involved in selling/trading signed stuff although I collect signed stuff if it interests me. I also think this thread should not be just buying/selling/trading etc... but also about discussing.

I'm also looking for BU2B on a 7 inch single. If anyone has one, I'll make it worth your while. I'd probably flip my Temples Of Syrinx 45 for it (or something else).

I'm going to have a another look at those posters in my closet this weekend and see which ones I still want to keep. Anyone have a Different Stages poster? I'd really like one of those.
  8. Never met him and I didn't get involved in whatever drama there was at the end. I still got all of those fanzines. I even won a contest from him. I preferred The Spirit Of Rush more. I like my fanzines to be a lot less graphics intensive than A Show Of Fans was, but it did have its moments. I've been known to have tears in my eyes during Bravado myself (more often than not during the extended jam at the end) so I'm not sure what the implication is there.

Did all the bad vibes kill this thread? I would still be interested in this idea. I'm always interested in seeing what's out there.

QUOTE (ytserush @ Feb 15 2011, 01:04 AM) I'd be interested. Here's a link to some stuff I'm parting with: http://www.mikeportnoy.com/forum/fb.ashx?m=2620767 The Rush stuff is near the bottom... At the risk of putting a bullseye on my back, here's the Rush/Dream Theater part of my list for those that don't want to click on the link above. Your mileage may vary, but I consider these prices to be reasonable, maybe more than reasonable, but part of that is the hope that they go to a worthy home and that they are enjoyed. The sigs look more detailed than now. Of course that happens with most celebs who sign a lot. This was signed in '79. They had a bit more time then lol This is just stunning! I love it. I haven't seen too many older signatures that look this good.
  13. QUOTE (Ranger J @ Feb 10 2011, 11:02 PM) sorry for the thread revival. I picked up the replay x3 box set the other week, and finally got around to watching the GUP disc. Beside the crappy video quality, the sound is reasonably good. HOWEVER, my biggest gripe is with the foot-activated synths levels - man they are rediculously overpowering and drown out alot of the mid-range, particularly the guitar. Tom Sawyer is a prime example. Anyone else notice this? Wouldn't have been a bad show otherwise - good seeing songs like 'The Weapon' and 'The Enemy Within' Until Rush In Rio, this was my favorite Rush DVD out of those three. I suppose part of the reason I love it so much is that I've been enjoying the audio since it was broadcast in 1986. Unfortunately, when they reissued the CD/DVD they overpowered the sweet mids and low end with the high end. The original recording does not sound like that. I'm not saying it's perfect, but I think it does sound better.
  14. They are both among their best (in my opinion). I choose not to decide.
  15. QUOTE (ToeCutter @ Jan 22 2011, 01:14 PM) QUOTE (gabpower @ Jul 6 2010, 11:13 AM)Hi all. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post request (I did not find any "marketplace" category) but I'm looking for Vapor Trails and Counterparts on vinyl record so if you have one of them that you would be willing to sell than message me back and we'll discuss. Thanks! Hey everyone! First time poster, but life-long Rush fan, and it was this post that led me to this fine forum, so I thought I'd respond, as I've been trying to complete my Rush Vinyl collection for a few months now. Counterparts is probably the hardest of the Rush vinyl to find. I've yet to find a US press, as sites like Discogs and Music Stax don't even list a US press. That said, the best press of Counterparts is said to be the one from West Germany (the two Germany's hadn't yet unified when CP was released, and I should know, because I was there ;-) There are also some Russian presses (mentioned here) that supposedly vary considerably in quality. Although, after hearing the comments here, I'm very tempted to snag a Russian copy just to hear what it sounds like. The South American presses are unknown quantities as well, as finding reviews on them is pretty difficult. If you just want them for the sake of having them on vinyl, then just go for the South American or Russian presses. If you want the best sonic quality, I'd wait it out for a German press. Be prepared to pay some serious cash, though. Vapor Trails is easier to find, but you'll pay through the nose for it. I paid $200 for my copy just a week or so ago, and consider myself "lucky" because it was a sealed copy. Now that it's arrived, I'm afraid to open the damn thing! I've also recently snagged a sealed copy of Snakes and Arrows (probably the best Rush album in 20 years, IMHO) for a measly C-note. The packaging is truly top-notch, and the sonic quality obliterates anything digital (Not a troll comment, just my own opinion having listened to it just last night). All is not lost, however. There have been rumors for YEARS that Counterparts, Roll The Bones, Test for Echo (never released on vinyl, regardless of what anyone says), and Vapor Trails are to be remastered and re-issued this year, in conjunction with the release of "Clockwork Angels" after Rush completes their tour. This has been a rumor for so long, you have to start wondering if it's true. Alex Lifeson mentioned it in an interview back in 2007 or 2008, and it's been repeated among vinyl circles ever since. VT has been the topic of many remastering rumors, as all the issued recordings suffer from serious distortion. Even the CD, played on an audiophile transport with a respectable DAC, can't escape the clipping clearly evident throughout the recording. So, be on the lookout for even the mere mention of Rush re-issues on vinyl this spring. For anyone curious, I'm still looking for Roll the Bones, and of course, Counterparts on vinyl. I'm at an age where disposable income isn't a problem, so if you have some nice Rush vinyl you's like to part with, PM me anytime. Lastly, a big hearty THANK YOU to the folks who run this forum. We Rush Fans are spread pretty thin nowadays, and I'm really looking forward to sharing opinions with others who consider Rush the greatest band in the history of music. Chronicles, Roll the Bones and Counterparts never saw a U.S. release. For what it's worth, the Rush Through Time compilation wasn't released in the US either. I was fortunate to pick up German copies of Roll The Bones and Counterparts at the time of release. I think my copy of Chronicles was pressed in the U.K.
  16. I collect quite a bit. I suppose I'd consider myself in the low end of the upper-middle class of Rush collecting. I don't have everything (can't really afford it even if I wanted to) but I do have enough to tastefully decorate a room should I ever decide to head in that direction. Maybe I will one day.
  17. QUOTE (farcryoverspilledmilk @ Jun 29 2010, 09:17 PM) Sorry everyone this set list is weak sauce. Very weak. Working Them Angels? Leave That Thing Alone in the first set on its own? ZZZZZZ...Faithless? ZZZZZZ. Stick It Out the worst CP song next to Speed of Love? Seriously, once word spreads that this is the set list you are going to see the fence sitters stay home. I met one in Best Buy today when buying the movie and he hadn't gotten his tickets yet to the NJ show he was planning on going to with his friends and I told him the rumored set list. He was pissed. Fan since 76 and was not happy at all. I have been a fan since 79 and I like all era's of Rush but I am being a realist here...this set blows. I'd agree with you about Stick It Out (my least favorite song in the set by far) but I'll deal with it if it means I get to hear Presto, Faithless and Leave That Thing Alone (again) and the rest of the stuff in the set. I've been a fan since 1984 and I decided that I was only going limit myself to two shows until I knew more about the set. If things continue the way they are I'm definately going to add the NJ show too and maybe one more depending on what The Camera Eye sounds like live. I would have loved to hear Jacob's Ladder myself, but there are enough surprises to make it worth it for me to see more.
  18. One story that had been going around was that it was Les Claypool's soundboard recording that this show was taken from as Primus was the opening band that night (and on most of the tour). Not sure if that was ever verified. It is one of the better shows from that leg of the US tour.
  19. QUOTE (Rush1 @ Apr 30 2010, 07:50 PM) OK....I might have to break it up...that would be OK also... I haven't any clue how it works to get it....I think it was a separate source than the tickets... Who the heck knows... I'd be interested in the CD single if you decide to break it up. The program too (if you don't want it).
  20. QUOTE (The Owl @ May 4 2010, 02:42 PM) Riverside is going to be at Nearfest this year....... I'm gonna be no where the PA area, so I will miss out.... I'm a couple of hours away from NEARfest, but since there's a Rush tour this year, I lose.
  21. QUOTE (The Owl @ Apr 19 2010, 10:30 PM) QUOTE (ytserush @ Apr 19 2010, 09:58 PM) I doubt many here would be into them. Why's that? Well, the lack of many responses here prove my point, but I originally observed that based on what music seems to get discussed here. Beardfish is probably among my favorite bands to come out in the last 10 years, but they don't seem to be for everyone.
  22. I don't have the most recent one yet or the bass player's solo album, but I really dig the rest. Fantastic live band. I saw them in New Brunswick a few years back. The bass player is has been influenced by Geddy. I can't wait to see them back in the states again.
  23. I love these guys. I don't have their first couple yet, but I've got all of the rest. Almost saw them live on Progressive Nation 2009 but their tour financing got pulled. I still hope to catch them live one day because I think their albums are awesome. I doubt many here would be into them.
  24. I would try and get the best seats possible and bring your daughter. My son has been to 4 Rush shows and he'll be 12 when he sees number 5. He loves it. (Although I have to say my son fell asleep for the second set of the Vapor Trails gig until Overture kicked in.) He already thinks he might get taken to a Rush show for his birthday and he's right. I've been lucky enough to go to a few shows every leg. (Sacrifices must be made). The family gig ALWAYS comes first. It's really hard to get 3 great seats in a row without over-paying for them. (Although its A LOT easier when they play arenas instead of sheds) If there's a gig I feel I need to see for whatever reason, I'll do it alone. (Although this year I might not buy tickets when they go on sale). Then there are friends (or my wife might want to go again) who might want to go so there is one gig for that. (I doubt that will happen this summer.) I'd like to see them from the first few rows and maybe that will happen one day. It's really cool watching from a great seat alone, but there is NOTHING that beats sharing the whole experience with your family. Unfortunately, it's also damned expensive these days.
