  1. QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Jul 9 2012, 01:18 PM) Wow, all the Seven Cities complainers need to go back and listen to the debut and COS. Seven Cities is Rush's 70s blues rock interpreted through their "modern" approach. Seriously, Alex's blues rock riffing and leadwork, Geddy belting out the high notes, trippy fantasy lyrics: what's not to love? I can see complaining about Good News First or Bravest Face, but Seven Cities? Seriously? You know I probably would like it more if it was sung by that 70's Geddy! That would sound awesome!!! Love CA, and Ged's voice is strong and healthy through out really he never sounded better at least in the last ten years. But this one i think will be a little tough to hit those high notes every other night. To me it's the weakest link of all the stand out songs from CA . I'm sure given time I'll change my tune..
  2. It's the same pattern with any new release, regardless of the artist or how good it is. After awhile you get bored with it and need to step back give it a rest. There was a point when I had enough of Moving Pictures or Pink Floyd The Wall or U2 The Joshua Tree when they came out. I'm not comparing CA with those classics, but I'm able upon hearing to tell what's a good album from a sh*tty one.. And ClockWork Angels is WORTH all the praise to dwell on for now it's still new and fresh and worth multiple listens to me. In contrast it didn't take me long to put away Roll The Bones when it was released( maybe listen to RTB 3 times from start to finish) for months on in never to visit until a year later after it came out..... Still don't like it very much... I do find myself skipping Headlong flight being the first single burned me out on it for now, and still can't warm up to 7 Cities yet..
  3. Most of these" new " prog bands just sound like silly wannabes to me, they sound decent for a Rush tribute band.
  4. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jun 28 2012, 01:33 PM) QUOTE (Khan @ May 16 2012, 07:46 AM) QUOTE (D3strukt @ May 15 2012, 06:08 PM) Has anyone been to Cleveland recently? Has it gotten any better? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v423/KublaKhan/24b6zk4_thjpg.gif I'll take that as a no. I call Cleveland, Leaveland. My brother always says, "the best thing about being from Cleveland is that you don't live there anymore. That's it." C'mon now, downtown Cleveland has gotten better with the Horseshoe casino in the former Higbees department store( Part of Christmas Story was filmed there) is really nice and the bars and pubs in the Gateway district have been rejuvenated because of it. The new aquarium in the flats I've heard nothing but positive comments about it and the Indians are still serious about " trying" to win baseball games..(fingers crossed)
  5. QUOTE (Ghostnotes @ Jun 27 2012, 03:15 PM) I remember going to Cleveland stadium to watch a fight and a football game broke out between the Steelers and Browns. Ahhh those were the good old days when the rivalry meant something..
  6. Can't really remember Rush opening acts or even some of those early Rush concerts from the early 80's altogether, just fragments here and there. But do remember FM with Ben Mink on his electric violin second night at Richfield Coliseum Moving Pictures tour May 8th 1981 were pretty good..... And Primus CP tour at Richfield I thought were good( Although for some reason Rush had a rare off night they seemed tired and not very enthusiastic, but the crowd was..) Mostly not many really stood out for me to remember at all, didn't pay much attention just wanted the opener to get it done with and get off stage. Bring on
  7. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jul 6 2012, 10:34 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jul 6 2012, 12:30 AM) BU2B2 simply does NOT work following Headlong Flight. If you stuck it between The Wreckers and Headlong Flight it would make sense thematically. I agree there. "BU2B2" should immediately follow the unfortunate events of "The Wreckers," for it's those events which bring him to the hopeless state he describes in "BU2B2." The way it's placed now, you have the bad events of "The Wreckers," followed by the hero optimistically saying, "Yeah, that was a dark experience, but I'd do it all again!" in "Headlong Flight," and then feeling hopeless and depressed in "BU2B2." He sounds bi-polar. Valid point, and it does make more sense to seg BU2B2 immediately after the Wreckers. Panacea before No-one At The Bridge would've been just as a odd placement as well.. However that being said, BU2B2 still conveys and evokes the characters emotional state regardless that the order seems suspect to the cohesiveness of the storyline.
  8. Damn it all there's to many duplicate topics on here! Just answered similar one on lighted stage...
  9. Is there any Clock Work Angel topic among the 800 " Songs from CA YOU hope they will shelve" I just don't dig Seven Cities Of Gold, (at this time... subject to change at a moments notice.) Really i do think it's possible that 7 Cities might be the one to get excluded have some high notes in there might be tough for Geddy to do every other night.
  10. Front cover of magazine is damaged on mine also.
  11. Richfield Coliseum Feb,18th or 19th? 1980.
  12. In concert, I sometimes wish Neil's drum solo's were "slightly" shorter...
  13. I always liked the Pumpkins and think it would be a really good bill to have them open for Rush( I remember Candlebox opened for Rush no more different then that) But we know Rush is beyond having a opening band at this point. One of the better interviews good job by Billy.
  14. Kill The Irishman, True story of the 1970's Cleveland mob scene and Danny Greene who wanted to take over . Wouldn't want to drive a caddy downtown Cleveland in 1975... Car bomb central...
  15. There has been talk about cutting back on mail delivery days here in the States.
  16. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 2 2012, 11:38 PM) The only person other than Billy, I would rather have interview RUSH would be Chris Farley/ Unfortunately.. well you know! I bet Chris would start it like this.... "Do.. you.. do you remember that time..?" Man I miss him he was great!!
  17. QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Jun 2 2012, 10:53 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 2 2012, 10:37 AM) The only thing worse than getting Billyto do this is Jack Black . All the people in the world and they get Billy ? Corgan is OK, I guess, but I hope he doesn't try to get uber-intellectual. It is GOOD that they didn't get Black; he's an ass-clown, and he would make it about himself. Too bad they couldn't get Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters. He's a big fan, and he seems to be quite down-to-earth and not full of himself, like Corgan and Black are.... Billy Corgan is a big fan, and thought is commentary and his personal feelings on what influence Rush was to him growing up insightful very well spoken on Beyond The Lighted Stage. Billy also made the speech for Rush on the Hollywood walk of Fame.
  18. QUOTE (Captain Avatar @ May 31 2012, 09:37 PM) Thanks for posting that man! I really like how honest Geddy was throughout the interview. I appreciate the fact that he said he didn't like Grace Under Pressure very much. Nowadays they seem to say every album is great. Until later...
  19. So which one was it that the "critics" disliked among the glowing reviews? I refuse to listen to all the samples, but it seems by reading others reactions here on TRF all appear to be solid .. ( for a 30 sec clip)
  20. I can learn to resist anything but temptation... Limited myself to title track snippet ClockWork Angels, sounded like something from Alan Parsons "I Robot"
