  1. I did get bored with the dream sequences after awhile and all the symbolic clues they contained and wanted them to get on with the story! Things look like they'll heat up now with Silvio filling in for Tony and the clash of egos and mini power struggles with in the family.
  2. QUOTE (crushtopher @ Mar 17 2006, 12:51 AM) I totally agree. Two best shows on television in my oppinion. Hilarious mockumentary. Stewart and Colbert are a riot. Good call fledgehog.
  3. Which American Idol will make it to Rock Hall B4 does ?
  4. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 12 2006, 03:20 PM) It wasn't a role that needed tremendous range (other than the singing). I beg to differ believe the singing did take tremendous range to pull off for a actress, like Sissy Spacek in Coal Miners Daughter both did there portrayals of June Carter and Lorreta Lynn with remarkable emotional range and consummate control.
  5. Just watched dvd last night very good ! So it was Elvis that got J.C. hooked on pills and everything else. What a suprise! Both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon suprised the hell out of me with there singing ablities they were really good. (Wonder why Phoenix wasen't nominated with academy award he deserved to.) The only disapointment of this dvd was the extras I was hoping they would have some mini Cash documentries and perhaps some actual performances and that great heart wrenching video of his version of the NIN song "Hurt"
  6. Very sad indeed, Christmas story one of my all time favorite movie . And I loved The night stalker, The original Christmas story house in Cleveland is being turned into a museum dedicated to the movie and being restored to it's original movie appearance.(yep the major award is in the front window!) Cast members have been known to stop by on occasion. I wonder has anyone ever seen the sequel if you can call it that,Of The Christmas Story called My Summer Story? Seen parts of it on Movie Channel from time to time. Not very good Jean Shepherd the creator of the books based on the movies again narrates My summer story same characters different actors(Tedde Moore who played teacher Miss Shields in Christmas returns to the role in summer story, the only one from Christmas story.) Ralphie is played by Kieran Culkin and brother Randy is played by Christian Culkin. How many Culkins are there anyway! There old man is played by Charles Groden
  7. Very tough once I pick I'll think of five more or six or....! Anyway at this moment mine are.. (In no particular order) Radio Days Slingblade A Christmas Story (R.I.P. Darren McGavin) Saving Private Ryan Glory And on my other top five 1 thru 3 would be The Godfather trilogy!
  8. I was never able to finish that damn game stuck on merry go round with zombie cop couldn't finish her off!

  12. George: Wow Keith Hernandez, he's such a great player Jerry: Yeah,he's a real smart guy too. He's a Civil War buff. George: I'd love to be a Civil War buff... What do you have to do to be a buff? Jerry: So biff wants to be a buff. Well sleeping less then 18 hours a day would be a start. GEORGE COSTANZA CAN'T STAND YA!
  13. QUOTE (slacker @ Nov 29 2005, 06:18 PM)one of my fav's when i was a kid.. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y234/bobwire/space1999.jpg the whole concept was great. I had a Space 1999 board game! Theres one odd short lived Sci-fi comedy that i use to like,it was called QUARK? late seventies (1978,79) on NBC. About a space garbage truck and crew. Goofy but funny!
  14. FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS! If i was a single man I'd buy it in a heart beat but if I bought it now ... I would soon be one. How much is the less gourmet addition going to cost?
  15. QUOTE (Sodoff Baldrick @ Aug 22 2005, 03:41 PM) You know what I miss, Creem Magazine. I loved the funny captions they put under the pictures. Actually, I think there still around. A year ago? maybe, I believe stumbled across a issue at magazine rack Walgreens drug store . Had a article on the all time greatest live rock acts. (Of course had to see if our RUSH damn well better made the list.) They did, can't remember were on it top 15 I think. What makes me believe this was Creem remember the dumb ass anti RUSH dig that Creem was infamous for. Quote " Look at the pretty lights not the band" Rolling Stone would go out of there way to ignore RUSH. Creem would go out of there way to bash RUSH! Your'e right always liked those little funny captions (Flock Of Seagulls,Van Halen) EXCEPT when they were ripping RUSH BOY HOWDY !
  16. In no order, Ian Hunter-Welcome To The Club Warren Zevon- Stand In The Fire (A twisted genius R.I.P.) Cheap Trick-Live At Budokan (A must for this list) Blue Oyster Cult-On your'e Feet Or On your'e Knees ( Cowbell please!) Yes-Yessongs Judas Preist-Unleashed in the East (Diamonds and Rust ) Michael Stanley Band-Stagepass (Locals would know only ) Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band-Live 1975/85 KISS-ALIVE (Classic even though spliced together with other shows,DAMN THAT VH1 SPECIAL! KISS- ALIVE II (Just as good as first one .... almost.)
  17. QUOTE (ChefEllwood @ Aug 20 2005, 05:23 PM) Been a while, but I'll throw 2 cents in the pot. First of all, Hit Parader was the biggest bullshit fabrication in the world. Just my opinion. I agree that most of these mags are trash and I never claimed that this incident was valid, but I knew what I read! It fit the topic so it was presented as such. Although Alex's reaction to me seems legitimate (and yes I can see this could of been his response whenever these situations arose) RUSH mature and professional class act. NO DOUBT . (NOT A ROTH ERA VAN HALEN PARTY BAND 1982- EDITION) But did they do a typical Rock group stuff drinking and what have you ? I think to a certain degree . A hell of alot less then most of there counterparts because they always understood the importance of the music and how much time and effort is needed to perform it RIGHT! And they were smart enough to know even in there younger years you couldn't last if your'e f*cked up and partying every night. I still think they probably indulged a little very discretely. But who cares if they did? I'm a fan of there music not my concern what they may or might not of done off stage. I believe everyone here feels the same way. (Interesting topic ,different !)
  18. QUOTE (Indica @ Aug 20 2005, 01:59 AM) I wasn't actually backstage to verify it but I never read stories in hit parade mag about it like you did a lot of other party bands lol. OK ,This has been nagging me since I mentioned the article I read many years ago in "Circus" or "Hit Parader" couldn't remember which one.It seems to me some folks here don't believe this was written. First off I think the main reason I still remember it was the first I heard anything like this concerning RUSH and I never heard anything more about a (groupie type fans.) after that. And I have boxes full of rock mags about RUSH. And now the most important fact ,I FOUND THE MAGAZINE. It's the April 1982 issue of HIT PARADER with Ozzy Osbourne on cover. The title of the article is called, RUSH BAND OF OUTSIDERS subtitled Canadian Rockers Find Room At The Top. It was written by Andy Secher . Now keep in mind this was 24 years ago? So I wasen't 100% exact word for word but I was damn close! I will now quote part of this article from 4/82 Hit Parader. Page 4 to 7 It was almost midnight as the last mega-decibels of Rush's second encore, Working Man faded into the smoke-filled air of the packed arena. 20,000 entusiastic fans rose to their feet as bassist Geddy Lee,drummer Neil Peart and guitarist Alex Lifeson laid down their instruments, gave a final wave and quickly headed for the relative serenity of their backstage dressing rooms. In a small cubicle crowed with guitar cases and amps,Lifeson was winding down from the band's two hour show when he was suddenly approached by an attractive young lady who began lavishing her ample affections upon the surprised guitarist. Reacting with a look of shock and pleasure,he managed to struggle to his feet and respond to her advances with a weak smile and a hearty handshake."Come on,Alex" said one of the group's road crew,"ya gotta give the fans what they want. " "Not tonight man" Lifeson replied with a grin, I'm just too damn tired." The rest of article Geddy comes in and sits down drinking a Pepsi and discusses the sorry shape of rock and roll right now (1982)QUOTE Geddy "Theres an awful lot of garbage out there"
  19. In a old issue of "Circus" or "Hit Parader" magazine ( have an extensive collection from late 70's and 80's I saved anything with RUSH articles) anyway not sure which one, but they had a behind the scenes look at RUSH on tour. In it the person doing the article mentioned a member of road crew coming backstage after the concert with a attractive young lady taking her to Alex's dressing room,He went on to say c'mon Alex you always said give the fans what they want! Then the writer said Alex let out a sigh and said "Not tonight I'm to damned tired." A funny incident I still remember that happened on the Robert Klien radio show which was taped live at New York City. RUSH was the guest well (Alex and Geddy) Moving Pictures tour they did this show shortly after that nights concert (Madison Square Garden ?) Well Robert couldn't get Alex and Geddy to talk (probably exhausted from that nights performance) alot of dead air Klien was getting pissed. But then he broke the ice by saying one of his wacky comments,Get these guys some hookers and pot loosen them up a bit ! Alex and Geddy exploded in laughter with the studio audience and it was a great interview after that. Sorry if i strayed from topic thought it kinda tied in...
  20. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Jul 4 2005, 02:55 PM) rare Syd sighting in 2001.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v300/test4vitalsigns/more%20gifs/Syd-Barrett-abril-2001-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v300/test4vitalsigns/more%20gifs/Syd-Barrett-Abril-2001-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v300/test4vitalsigns/more%20gifs/Syd-Barrett-abril-2001-3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v300/test4vitalsigns/more%20gifs/F_SYD_S.gif WOW! Just like seeing Big foot. I forgot to mention also have Syd's "The Mad Cap Laughs" On vinyl stole off my sister years ago.... (I meant borrowed)
  21. A few Floyd related questions and random remarks. The solo stuff, Roger Waters I have The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking. I find ambitious yet slow and muddled. RADIO K.A.O.S. much better interesting concept.(Cool during this tour to support this album had a request booth in crowd to talk and place request DJ Jim Ladd on stage) Cleveland show and I'm sure every other stop someone asked wheres Syd ? I know there was a RADIO K.A.O.S ll never heard any reviews about it. Other Waters album"What God wants" I heard sucked. I know theres probably more anyone have any suggestions? His Wall production in Berlin never got around to buying (Worth It?) I have first Gilmour on cassette and About Face on vinyl both very good. Also still have on video tape Gilmour MTV special concert during About Face, At the start of this shows David sitting in front of tv remote in hand watching THE WALL movie frown on face Then turns tv off! Any other Gilmour solo stuff I should up date to ? Have all of FLOYD up to Delicate Sound of Thunder. No longer seemed like a band to me more like a orchestra.
  22. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b216/spirit3trails/t138386ylns.jpg C'mon a fake critic lured you into seeing this? Deserve to be taken! Where did they come up with $5.00? Most theaters charge 7 to 8.50 for movie.(At least around here.)
  23. 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY- Only after reading Arther C. Clarkes book, saw the movie first thought it was a wacked out acid trip.THEN I read the book and it all made sense perfect adaptation. Can't say the same for sequel 2010 mediocre at best although the appearance of David Bowman was done well.
  24. Well ,kazzman beat me to it in worst department GODS AND GENERALS,great book horrible movie. THE GREEN MILE staring Tom Hanks very good adaptation of Stephen Kings novel. Hell we can do a entire thread on the best and worst adaptations to film on Kings books alone !
  25. A couple more notes about Donna Halper,She was one of the first to start the campaign to get RUSH in rock hall ,because of her persistence the hall had a RUSH exhibit in 02? Wish i would of seen it any one on forum see it? Also during Geddy's media tour of solo release he did a interview on WMMS old RUSH stomping ground not the same don't play RUSH anymore . DJ didn't no about Donna Halper and Geddy had to give her a history lesson about her own station!!!! Sad very sad.....
