  1. the album is amazing. Definitely better than Insurgentes, and might even be better than The Incident -- still need time to judge that. I'm hearing lots of King Crimson influence, especially in Raider II (the 23-minute long track). Strong contender for album of the year, can't wait for my CD copy to arrive.
  2. QUOTE (apetersvt @ Sep 23 2011, 03:48 PM) QUOTE (Khan @ Sep 23 2011, 09:39 AM) planking I assume this craze was made up for the show and not some craze in real life???? is this a serious post?
  3. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Sep 23 2011, 03:39 PM) Personally, I don't get why Day in the Life is so great. really? REALLY?? even if you don't understand its reputation as a stand-alone song, think of it in the context of the album it's on AND the time during which it was released. it was groundbreaking. and it's also a damn good song.
  4. anyone have any idea what their setlists are going t obe like now that the new album is out?
  5. i'd probably give priority to the 80s albums, as they have the most going on sonically. a 5.1 mix of an album like Caress of Steel or A Farewell to Kings, though it would sound nice, wouldn't be as interesting as Power Windows or Hold Your Fire.
  6. QUOTE (-Jane- @ Sep 22 2011, 12:53 PM) MACs were ridiculously over priced even back then. they still are.
  7. QUOTE (Akron162 @ Sep 20 2011, 09:28 PM) we have stablished previously that pop sucks, why keep talking about this? who are "we", and on what grounds was this "stablished"?
  8. there's no need to make a post like that knowing full well that it will stir up controversy, then blame the ensuing shitstorm on the responders. are we supposed to ignore a blatantly biased religious statement that quite frankly has nothing to do with the OP content in a non-religious thread? There's a reason I don't go into Sense O'Clock News, and I don't need to see that shit here in music of the spheres instead.
  9. wanna look like Ke$ha? simple, just go back to the caveman days and try not to shower for a few months. maybe contract a few STDs while you're at it.
  10. QUOTE (GUP1771 @ Sep 20 2011, 07:10 PM) Since we're on the subject of Ke$ha, has anyone heard her duet with Alice Cooper on his new album? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sb4AhrOOLs whats worse than alice cooper? ALICE COOPER FEATURING KE$HA
  11. oh right, i'm young and go to music school, therefore my opinions don't count.
  12. a lot of these, while they are good songs from the 1980s, don't fit the OP's description at ALL
  13. QUOTE (Nate2112 @ Sep 20 2011, 05:13 PM) QUOTE (Can-Utility @ Sep 20 2011, 04:11 PM) You realize that On the Sunday of Life is more or less done w/ computers? But isn't the other half pure music talant from our friendly neighborhood Steve Wilson? that's not the point. Electronic music is computer-generated, regardless of WHO made it. If someone like SW is able to make it good, that doesn't make it not made by computers. Discrediting all computer-made music based on a single artist (Ke$ha) is stupid, and frankly, Ke$ha is one of the worst artists out there even by the standards set by other mainstream electronic and dance artists. This thread is really stupid and I'm struggling to figure out the point of it.
  14. QUOTE (Your_Lion @ Sep 20 2011, 02:34 PM) Because I grew up with Back to the Future, I would have to say The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News good answer. on a similar note (movie songs), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4eyHVq8D6Y

  16. QUOTE (That One Guy @ Sep 19 2011, 01:24 PM) Every time I check the chat, nobody's on. :C If it remains inactive maybe ill set up a designated chat time. Shame really, cause this forum is full of fun people, but we're stuck talking in threads Gary's radio show on Thursday nights used to be pretty much a "designated chat time", but with that gone i guess no one ever wants to initiate a chat out of the blue.
  17. listening to Eric Johnson's "Venus Isle" for the first time, and kicking myself for not getting this album sooner.
  18. i wouldn't say hte last season was terrible. it was incredibly hit-and-miss. However, I believe Goodbye Michael alone proves that the writers still have it left in them, they just need to actually use it...
  19. chat used to be a whole lot more popular a few years ago -- not sure what happened there. maybe everyone got sick of me
