Learning to Fly: Pink Floyd or Tom Petty?
Weakly Criminal replied to Texas King's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Like both. Petty by a nose. Foo fighters suck. That is all. -
How did great songwriters write great songs?
Weakly Criminal replied to Entre_Perpetuo's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Yeah, in his autobiography, Keith Richards talks about waking up and finding he recorded the riff for "Satisfaction" on his bedside cassette recorder. He apparently did it while he was asleep . . . Or in a heroin induced stupor. Lol -
How did great songwriters write great songs?
Weakly Criminal replied to Entre_Perpetuo's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Many great creators talk about inspiration coming to them in a dream and then rushing to get it on paper before they forget. Plant said that STH came to him like automatic writing while he was hold up in that castle with Page. Most of the time it's a good idea that gets worked on and contributed to by many over quite some time until it works. -
Pray to Satan for his recovery. It's the only help possible. Seriously, best wishes.

Free Bird vs Green Grass & High Tides
Weakly Criminal replied to Bigbobby10's topic in Music Of The Spheres
More southern prog than Skynyrd's southern hard rock. Southern prog? Lol. That's a new one on me. Allman brothers might be a little proggy in their way. Labels are covienant but not very accurate. -
Today I made three people laugh and two people smile. Brevity is the soul of wit and levity is the spice of life. Make em laugh!

They're not much alike at all. Early K was much more prog and S more commercial, but I do love them both. Styx was the first rock show I ever saw live btw. They opened for Kiss. I was 13.

Isn't Green Grass a bit more folk-ish? -
Judas Priest are now in the studio working on a new album
Weakly Criminal replied to treeduck's topic in Music Of The Spheres
I hope it's upbeat and old school. I played electric eye for my nephew the other day, he was on about satellites, and he's now digging through the library. He'll be hell bent for leather soon.- 1787 replies

3 Years Ago Today David Bowie Passed Away
Weakly Criminal replied to Bigbobby10's topic in Music Of The Spheres
If you haven't seen the documentary on Bowie's last year's on AXS you simply must. It's not negotiable. Do it! Such a genius, such an asshole. Such an influence. -
Gatekeeping in the metal and rock community.
Weakly Criminal replied to fraroc's topic in Music Of The Spheres
It's a well made point. Musicians are in the business of selling songs, and there are many compromises made in search of fortune. Fortunately pure art still exists and we can still choose what we listen to. I like an empty pop tune now and again. To just enjoy the mindless lyrics and pretty harmony is fine. It can't all be Hemispheres non stop. -
Styx was the very first band I saw live. I was 13 and they opened for Kiss at the Tarrent Co CC. I was blown away. Suddenly Kiss looked like the clown act they were. I spent the next week trying to find someone I could borrow Pieces of Eight from. Styx holds a very special place in my heart and produced a ton of excellent and influential music before they imploded with that Kilroy crap. That said Kansas kicks the living crap out of em.

Gatekeeping in the metal and rock community.

RUSH was accused of sounding too much like LZ on their first album, and they readily admitted the imfluence and still do. Hell the whole British invasion was copying blues standards, particularly LZ. The bottom line is do you like the music? If so then don't be so damn anal about it. -
Awesome full lunar eclipse last night, fully visible from the balcony, Cabernet in hand.

Relationships between young guys and much older women?
Weakly Criminal replied to Texas King's topic in Random Samples
I think all relationships are sexual for men, but in some cases there may be a touch of Oedipus involved if the woman is much older, which would make it more emotional. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I think in general men prefer younger. Your results may vary. -
Red Barchetta vs I Can't Drive 55 vs Born to Run
Weakly Criminal replied to JohnRogers's topic in Music Of The Spheres
What about all the great 60s car songs? You know them. Of those not mentioned, Trans Am by Hagar, Freeway of Love by The Queen, East Bound and Down by The Claw, Lowrider by War and One Piece at a Time by the immortal Mr Cash. -
Just saw the Steve Howe lineup of Yes at The Majestic in Dallas Sunday night. Howe still has his fastball, but its down to about 89. Alan White can only manage the last couple of songs, but impressed nontheless. Billy Sherman is amazing replacing Squire on bass and vocals. Tempos are down a bit as with RUSH, but excellent performance overall. I counted 7 standing ovations including the entire encore. They played Drama right through and sides 1 and 4 of Tales. Still singing along in my head.

One of your favourite cars is a 75 Camaro.. Kudos to you for being man enough to admit that on a public forum. ;) ;) It wasn't stock. Had the vette engine, four bolt main,, 2.02 heads, high rise with a double pumper, headers and thrush mufflers with the clips that you could pop off and run straight headers. Thanks for explaining because I was impressed and perplexed at the same time reading your post. 1 and 2. It's all true...sadly all true. Us Mopar guys like the arrived first bit. It was a fastback Valiant but the Vailiant wasn't good looking yet. The 2.5 million in sales for Mustang prove it started a new genre of car. The first Barracuda ran well enough for the times. 3. Don't tell anybody lest I lose my Mopar cred, I like GM F bodies shhhhhh a lot. It pains me that in Enid some homeless guy is living in a 20th anniversary package Trans Am. Share your '01 Trans Am with us. 6. Truth. Let's see if I can post pictures with this damn tablet. https://m.facebook.c...1&source=56 Maybe a link will work. I'm not a red car guy*. Nice, T-tops is the way to go. I'd have fun driving that! *yeah so I don't really dig red on cars yet a Challenger, Mustang and 'Vette I owned were red. Deals I couldn't pass up...LOL. I love it. I've had convertibles and t tops are much better. Same open feel with better rigidity and much less blowback. Only thing about it is that it's totally a highway car. Takes a solid acre to turn it around, and it's much bigger on the outside than the inside. Can't complain about the LS1 though. Its a beast. And with the T56 six speed I get 20mpg at 70mph doing 2k rpm. It's electronically limited to 145 and will do that all day long. Did I mention I love it?
