  1. when you complain about political correctness and people swearing too much in the same post it's time to check into the nursing home. And when you suggest getting out of the house and forgetting about it I would suggest checking into the asylum. good one. I'm crazy because I don't get offended when people who actually work hard swear on the job? like I said, there's a time and a place. working in the hot sun (away from a computer) is one of them. it's not like there were children present. well, not actual children... I was raised to equate swearing with lack of intelligence. It was done by people weren't smart enough to express themselves in any other way. I'm not talking about an exclamation of pain or surprise but just in general conversation. I think what Lorraine is talking about is more the lack of respect that young people have these days. They have been raised to be able to get away with whatever they want to. No real discipline or education. I'm a pretty smart guy. I curse with some frequency, when circumstances allow. It's not that i don't have other ways to express myself, it's _another_ way to express myself, in the right envrionment.
  2. When I was younger (much younger), I was OK with the pushing and shoving of GA. Now, not so much. I couldn't see a band with a young crowd in a setting like that anymore, at 48. But I did see Twisted Sister a couple of months ago and it wasn't so bad, back near the bar with the guys my age. :) I'm going to see Riverside in September, same deal GA. But it's a different kind of crowd... a bunch of prog guys standing around drinking beer (or wine in my case), drooling over 12 minute long heavy songs. LOL.
  3. Are you thinking of Waterloo Village in NJ? Westbury in Long Island is a nice theater now.
  4. Shields. The Empire doesn't have transporters, so my way of defeating them would be to beam nukes or photon torpedos onto their ships. But they have those pesky advanced shields, and reinforced, dense hulls. Sorry if I'm being a geek here....
  5. Not sure if I'd like Star Trek Wars. Half the time those guys don't get their own set of characters right. With Marvel it's different I think since they originally were Marvel heroes then split by film studios. To be fair: For Canon Star Wars, I haven't seen a major continuity error. That's one thing that Lucas got right, even with the prequels. I expect the same from Kennedy and her team... time will tell. Sure the books crossed each other , but that's the past now. No longer cannon. Don't get me wrong, I'll still see any film that's Star Trek or Star Wars or an amalgation...then afterwards, there'll be a 50% chance of me bitching about what I saw. ;) Now an amalgamation of Trek and Star Wars would be something. I'd be looking forward to the Federation and Klingons getting their collective asses kicked by The Empire. I love Trek and all that. But, I know how to pick the winning side. ;) Imagine the typical Star Trek red shirt landing party vs the standard Stormtrooper squad. Nobody would land a single shot yet all would somehow die. But yet, land battles wouldn't decide. Star Destroyers, Death Stars, and World Devastators versus the Federation would be like the modern US Navy fighting against a WW2 era opponent .
  6. She was also Marta. May this beautiful lady riest in peace.
  7. Here is something that I think would have made a great crossover movie. It's from 98' so takes into account DS9 and TNG only, and the SW books up until that point. I've been back to this a few times since it first was published back then... it never gets old...for me anyway. It's a great read..... enjoy. http://www.stardestr...uest/index.html

  9. What Toymaker isn't telling us is that the box is really a singularity.... a black hole. Open the lid and you get sucked into Dionysus land.

  11. Are you kidding? This is fracking awesome. Nice work, man!!!! Edit: Your art teacher is an ass - tell him I said so. A teacher should never be discouraging.
  12. My crappy bass cover of Jacob's Ladder. Too embarrased to post it here. Need to woodshed a hell of a lot more than I do.
  13. Remember - we all went through the 90's with Rush. I can't remember how many times I'd see posts on AOL or on the TNMS list asking why Rush wouldn't release even 1 DVD during that period. It's true, there was a time when all you could find was official gear at shows, or non-offical stuff. After the hiatus..I guess with R40, they turned the marketing machine up to 8.. (Where KISS is a 15).
  14. I'm on my way to becoming ancient now? Cool, maybe the honor of Jedi master will be bestowed upon me soon :madra: <vader> Do not let them deceive you into believing that you are a Jedi. </vader> Just kidding. :)
  15. Well, why shouldn't they? I'd say that they worked pretty hard themselves to get the name recognition. It's not every garage band that can have their own fully stocked department store. It's quite an accomplisment from a business standpoint.
  16. You're right of course. He and the boys have earned every penny - worked damned hard for it too. The only reason this topic is even being discussed is because of the Neil story. He disagrees with the marketing and all that....
  17. Some members are excited about the recently announced news that the Atlantic era albums will be re-released on vinyl this year.
  18. Yes. And with that repition, is it any wonder why we get all excited by guys running around on stage in chicken suits? The shows are spectacles and all that... but we need something more fun. Like Van Halen... they fracking ROCK. But the shows are fun too. Because Dave is the party. (Yes, he's less of a party these days, but still the party) Where's our Party? Our man Lerxst. He's our party... but he hasn't done a rant in 8 years. We need more of that. Hit me baby!
