Eastern Washington is very different than Western Washington (the same goes for Eastern vs. Western Oregon). I've spent time in both and the climate, terrain, and attitudes vary from place to place. If you are considering retiring out that way you should definitely spend a little time in various locations to see which seems to mesh best with your own values. For example, I think Seattle is a great city and oh so pretty (it's surrounded by mountains and forests), but it is often grey and damp, and is now getting quite expensive due to the heavy tech industry presence. In contrast, Spokane's downtown area has had a revitalization in recent years and now has a bunch of nice pubs and restaurants, but, as you noticed, can be rednecky and conservative, and it's hard to find places that are open on Sunday mornings. Well we really want the good vibes and warmth of Hawaii...without all the isolation and cost. I know...impossible. We caught Washington on a couple of sunny days, but it appears to be alot like Michigan weather-wise sans snow. Love, love, love Olympic National Park. I think my idea of living different places for 2-3 years at a time sounds great but my wife doesn't want to move that much.

My wife and I took a trip out to the west coast and Washington this year. Love, love, love the country in Washington and actually considering retirement there. But it sounds like the people can be kind of....rednecky. And that's something similar to Michigan I want to avoid. Any suggestions? No, not "rednecky" - that's a rumor started by someone at some time that has gained strength. There's nothing "rednecky" about the place. Did you know Spokane is a "sanctuary city"? Suggestions? Don't move. Stay where you are. If you do make the move, you will live to regret it. Like the old saying goes, this is a nice place to visit, but you don't want to live here. Anyone west of the Dakotas will fit in well here. Most people east of the Dakotas will have a very hard time. I just spoke to yet another person at the dentist office last week that moved here six years ago from New Jersey. She hates it, and told me as soon as her son is out of college, she's moving back. She is one of many that have told me the same thing. Ugh, we'll we're certainly not staying in Michigan when we retire. Both of us have spent much of our lives here and are totally sick of it. Definately thinking westward. Thanks for the info.

Dang 39...can't believe he was still playing. Along with Peyton and Hasselbeck, the last of 1998. And his numbers are still up, particularly with his INTs. A guy playing safety at 39 is a total BAMF. Is a BAMF sort of like a MILF? Sorry that's isn't in my acronym vocabulary yet.

Doing something like the death star again makes perfect sense actually. Kylo wants so much to be like Vader, why wouldn't he create his own version of the death star. so was this new Base built to surpass everything. But it doesn't. Being built on an immobile planet how may worlds are really threatened? It seems pretty easy to defend against. My 9yo son would like to know why anyone would essentially recreate a design that was easily destroyed twice already by small craft. I have no answer for him. http://www.ridelust.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ford-pinto.jpg There were over 3 million Ford Pintos produced over a ten year run. It performed within the mission parameters set for it marvelously. This immobile Death Star Planet not so much. Because it was designed and manufacturered by Ford?

There's a direct correlation between the amount of alcohol consumed and the lowering of IQ. I'm sure there's a study on that somewhere.

As one of the most unique and iconoclastic bands in the world with a similar fanbase, I find any use of the word 'we' highly ironic and misguided. In simpler terms, don't dare present this 'we' crap to a bunch of Rush fans.

Steve explained that it was an honest mistake. He was reading from the list of contestants he wanted to bang backstage.

They took turns with each team being totally inept for a half.

He's a Dolphins fan??? No wonder he hates Brady. I hate Brady, too. Please tell me that doesn't make me a Dolphins fan. No....everyone that's not a Pats fan hates Brady.

The Steelers, Chiefs, and even the Jets are all orders of magnitude better than the crap that leads the NFC East and AFC South.. agreed, but rules are rules. But it seems most of the spots are pretty much locked up other than the crap divisions.

Let's just start the playoffs. None of the borderline teams are worth a damn anyway.

It was divine inspiration. More like a zombie.

We didn't see enough of that Saturday night? To quote the typical stupid Lions fan "Moore just needs a chance, he really does well in preseason". Bwaaaaahahaha
-
Oh please please please Dallas play Kellen Moore the rest of the year so the whole league can see he has no physical tools.

bummer they'll never get that fourth win. Mettenwhatshisname sucked balls.

As someone who follows the Lions, (but don't dare call me a fan) I appreciate the Dolphins taking Suh off our hands. I mean, both teams suck, but now Miami will be stuck with the overpaid malcontent. Enjoy dealing with that cap number. I said it was a bad signing at the time, but it turned out even worse than I thought. Still, he's no Albert Haynesworth (although I'm sure Sheldon will come around any minute now and tell me that was a wonderful signing.) I called him Haynesworth 2.0 to all the Lion fanbois and got flamed for it. He's not there yet, but give him another loosing season or 2 and he'll be full on lazyass malcontent Albert. But hey, I'm sure he's enjoying the Miami weather. NFL 101...if your team sucks, do not trash your salary cap. Cap space at least gives you hope.

Some of you really need to seek professional help for OCD.

I was thinking it would be more like a drinking game, except with weed :smoke:

Okay, that part made me LOL! Sometimes I wonder what percentage of LOLs are really literal LOLs. I would suspect the number of actual ROFLs is about 0. I actually LOLed, but did not ROFL. (Not being a hyperbolic kid I use the "LOL" acronym quite sparingly.) Studies have shown that most LOLs are more like SA (slightly amused).

A modified Monopoly game with sounds from The Big Money. Every time you pass go, you hear a synthy burp from the intro.
