  1. Away from this forum, I rarely see Rush mentioned anywhere...but that's just me I follow on Facebook classic rock and metal news pages and they come up from time to time and it's always about the classics. Well, that makes sense
  2. You've had a few member titles already! Your point? You've got another one now ;)
  3. If this isn't a joke, why would you frequent a message board loaded with people talking about anything and nothing? It's somewhat jokey, but as I go through life, I find myself be less and less tolerant of idiots, and it seems there are more of them all the time. Plus, none of you are real. You might as well be robots or automatons (same thing?) because I don't have to interact with you in person. Writing fellow internetters off as not real or not having to interact with them allows some to be the dick that they know they can't be in the real world. It's weak. The "less tolerant of idiots" and "more of them all the time" I can understand. Being less tolerant is probably more connected to getting old and weathered more than anything else. Not sure if there's actually more idiots though. Probably are but who knows? I can definitely see all points here .... But what I believe to be true is that people tend to hate what they fail to acknowledge in themselves . . :goodone:
  4. I'm getting the feeling that Texas King likes all the other big classic rock bands more than he likes Rush.
  5. Yup. This stuff isn't a surprise if you'd read Neil's book. That being said, I hope the film isn't depressing.
  6. Answers: 1) Possibly, but only if the content remains somewhat entertaining. 2) Yes, I think it will stay so long as there are active participants. 3) Over there on the couch, watching something on Netflix. 4) In 20 years I may be living a little further away from an urban center. 5) Usually less than 10 minutes. Questions: 1) If you could be any animal, what would you be? 2) And why? 3) Who would win in a battle between a grizzly bear and a crocodile? 4) 23 + 5 - (2 * 3) / 11 = ? 5) Do you consider yourself good at math(s)?
  7. I can't see any objectivity in your posts. Your opinions are so biased. For example you consider The Who and Deep Purple decent rock bands while I consider them one of the best and the most important rock bands of all time who can compete with Rush any day, every day. Geddy Lee as a rock bassist belongs in the conversation with the likes of The Ox, John Paul Jones, Les Claypool, Chris Squire, Steve Harris, Cliff Burton and Geezer Butler. Maybe if I ask you who is a better keyboardist: Geddy Lee or Jon Lord, or Geddy Lee or Rick Wakeman you would say Geddy Lee in both cases. I am a huge Rush fan, I consider them one of the best and the most quality rock bands, but I am not so biased. Asking people "Who is your favourite [anything]" is not objective by definition. If you start a poll on a Rush forum asking "Which bassist is your pick?" you shouldn't be surprised if most people answer "Geddy". I love the music Geddy plays. Not only is he one of the best in the world, this forum is about him and the band. Actually, I am not really a fan of the Who or DP, or most classic rock bands in general. I am a fan of Rush because they are (were) not your typical classic rock band, and because they chose to morph and grow once the 70s were over. As Lucas pointed out, they have been quite prolific -- much more prolific than the Who, for example -- and have probably played more live shows than the other bands you mentioned. I feel that Geddy has continued to learn his instrument and improve over the years, and many, many other stellar musicians cite him as an influence. And Geddy has kept this up for almost 50 years. Personally, Steve Harris is another favourite of mine with a distinctive style, but he's also my second favourite bassist after Geddy. Cliff Burton is also good, but he only played for a few years, and he died 30 years ago. I'll acknowledge that Les Claypool is a good bassist, but I don't like his style. Chris Squire is also good, but I haven't listened to Yes in 30 years. I did see the Who earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised by the fact I enjoyed their live show, and of course they are capable musicians, but none of them blew me away, certainly not the way Geddy does. And, for the record, I think Geddy is only an average keyboard player. (He does, however, excel at playing the keyboards AND the bass AND foot pedals AND singing all at the same time, something very, very few people can pull off.) But asking "Who is a better keyboardist" is a very different question than asking "Which keyboardist would you pick/which is your favourite". And you know who are better keyboardists than Jon Lord or Rick Wakeman? Rick Smith and Darren Price, hands down.

  10. Answers: 1) It doesn't matter to me, although if it seems it might be interesting then I would probably read it. 2) They are somewhat interesting, but not really my style. 3) It would be much more interesting if he liked the same kinds of wines I do, but, alas. 4) Yes! Going to see it with friends. 5) I think so, but probably not big screen "official" productions like this one. Questions: 1) What kind of shoes do you wear most often? 2) How often do you shower? 3) When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? 4) Now that you are more grown up, what is your ideal job? 5) What do you do for a living?
  11. Geddy leaves most bass players in the dust, including Entwhistle.
  12. Not a bad song at all! Although it would be better if Lars lost the headband Did anyone else notice that the (music?) stand in front of Hetfield has the band name misspelled as "METLLICA"?
  13. I love it. It is definitely in the top five for me, maybe even the top three. A couple years after this post, CA is my second-favourite Rush album.
  14. More rain! This area of California has had 200-300% normal rainfall for October! (Our rain year starts in October, and we typically get zero rain between June and mid-October.) No snow yet in the Sierras, but it should start soon.
  15. I like it. But you ain't no nun! I'm not?! :o Well, god dammit all to hell ;)
  16. Out: Toymaker. He is looking out for his wife but not for the group. In: Babycat. With claws like those she's a good defensive person cat. ILSnwdog JohnnyBlaze Tombstone Mountain Turbine Freight Greyfriar Babycat
  17. (Yesterday...) A group of friends and I got dressed up and did a Zombie Pub Crawl. It took place on a street with a lot of shops, restaurants, and bars. The funnest part was that we were some of the first people there, and it was fun to walk around and see the reactions from other people who didn't know what was going on http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o371/x1yyz/zombie%20group_zpsmq0ycfaf.jpg
