  1. Another thing... Don't listen too closely to advice women give you. They will tell you to be nice and be yourself. That won't work for you. You've probably already tried that and that's why you're by your lonesome. Be a man. Even if you're not great looking you can still score a hot chick. Trust me. There are lots of girls who like how a guy acts and looks are less important. Be a good kisser. Don't be a wuss about it. They will get turned on and think you really know what you're doing if you're a good kisser. But you will not get to kiss them if you sit around waiting to come to you. Go after them, but don't let them know what you're doing. Hang out in places where women go. Going to a Rush concert is a bad place to meet women, for instance. It's possible, but improbable. Far too many guys to compete with. No girl is going to come knocking on your door for a date. Speaking of dating, dating is a losing proposition for guys. Dating is for couples who are already having sex. Take the pressure off by suggesting a meetup, not a date. Don't ask her out for a steak dinner. That is a bad idea. If you make a big deal out of your encounter you will put her in the drivers seat and you'll likely strike out. Don't think that a nice car will do it for you either. A guy with a crappy car will be far more likely to get girls than a guy with a nice car if he has confidence. You only get one chance at a first impression, so don't be put into the 'friends only" category. Girls categorize guys, and if you are too nice you'll be put there right away and never stand a chance with her. f you pay too much attention to her and compliment her like everyone else you will eliminate your chances of success. Confidence is a number one priority, but don't be too cocky or that will ruin you, too. Don't be afraid of failure. it might take a few tries to get some phone numbers, but don't give up. Good luck, dude.
  2. QUOTE (Sark @ Nov 24 2009, 09:38 AM) I was just wondering why is it that when I had a girlfriend I was hit on several times during the course of our relationship ( about 8 different times during the course of 3 years.) It's been almost 2 years since we broke up, and now if I ask someone out it's like I asked them to donate a kidney. I never cheated on my girlfriend and I see so many guys that treat the women they are with like crap. I just want to know why nice guys are always last. It's because girls are not exactly logical, they like challenges, and they want what they can't have. Just pretend like you have a girlfriend even though you don't. But, that prolly won't work because girls are very smart in some ways even though they seem clueless in other ways. It's worth a try, though. It's very complicated. But the best way to win is to be confident, smile, don't compliment them, and don't show any signs of insecurity. Overcome any shyness you have or you will lose over and over. Use eye contact and wait for them to look away first. If you seem like you care about them too much at first, they'll think you're desperate and will run away. Don't do what seems logical to them. They are not like you. if they were, you would be having great success with dating because you could just treat them the way you would want to be treated. Girls get offers daily from guys, and get compliments from guys. Don't play along with this. They get bored very easily, too. Make them wonder why you're not sucking up to them. This will make them curious, perhaps. Above all you need to realize there are millions of girls out there and they're there for the taking. Don't focus on just one girl. If you open up your target range you will increase your chances greatly. let me know if this works. I accept paypal.
  3. There are basically two ways to score last-minute tickets: 1) Pay big bucks 2) Win them from a radio station That's it.
  4. As much as I like kids, I can't see a 3yo having the attention span to appreciate a rush concert, let alone any concert. You should also consider how the kid's behavior could affect (possibly ruin) another fans' experience which they paid dearly for. In short, they are paying to hear the MUSIC...
  5. QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Jun 9 2010, 10:14 AM) All concerts produced by Live Nation have their fee's waived for the month of June. Meaning, if you buy your ticket this month for any concert the fee's are $0. (certain venue fee's might still apply though) Save a few buck folks! Live Nation musta seen my sig pic. I worked!
  6. It's not a RUSH thing, it's an ALCOHOLIC/ heavy drinker thing. Some people don't exercise good judgement when they drink. Unfortunately some of those people screw it up for others that don't want to be distracted. I took my "gf at the time" to a Rush concert and these "party kids" behind us kicked the back of her seat the whole damn show. It ruined it for her and there was little I could do about it. Some people are oblivious to how their behavior affects other people or they just don't give a rat's ass.
  7. QUOTE (the masked drummer @ Jun 11 2010, 06:45 AM) Everyone has the right to their own opinion, especially Tick. To me, I don't understand why anyone would like Iron Maiden, for instance. It all sounds the same to me. Same riff over and over with harmonization. A lot of people don't understand that about me, but that's me. Very boring to me. To each his own... I liked the Rush documentary so much I wanna catch iron maiden's just to learn a bit more about them. It might give me an appreciation for them for once. I said "especially Tick"

  9. Musicians usually keep playing and touring if they're moving in a FORWARD direction, so I think that's a pipe dream. (ok, i'll admit it. I'd love it if he did that. They would have to put that heavy reverb on his drums to make it sound like the studio version, though...)
  10. Leave it on and pull 'em out! lol
  11. I don't know how to read, so I guess I'm out!
  12. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Mar 24 2010, 09:14 AM) Hey guys and gals! I'm working on a song right now that has a structure where I rhyme 4 words in a row at the end of a line. The first three words are Love, dove, above. I am having serious difficulty in finding a fourth "uv" sounding word. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Keep it simple... "Of".
  13. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 3 2010, 05:25 PM) YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS! Intense Drummer! He needs a metronome and some in-ear monitors, but other than that, he's SWEET!
  14. They've gone up. That's why I'm calling it the "roll the fans" tour. (see my signature pic)
  15. QUOTE (toddnbeth @ Apr 28 2010, 06:07 PM) Having never been up front at a show, I am considering getting some seats in the first 2 or 3 rows for Vegas, cost be damned. The closest I have been previously was first row center behind the pit at Nokia, and the view was perfect. My question is, is the view really that great from that close? Obviously I will be close to Alex and Geddy but I am wondering if I will even be able to see Neil from there. Money is not the primary issue at this time, its just that I dont want to spend the big bucks when I might have had a better view and better sound for a lot less money. What do you guys think? Paridoxically, it's actually better imho to be at least 30-40 rows back, from my experience. I had front row on first leg of S&A and I stood ten feet in front of alex. Up that close, it's like Alex is playing in your living room, which sounds cool but it just doesn't look that "huge". (also, he kinda gave me dirty looks when i took cell phone pics. hehe) I mean, it's cool to see if you never have, but I prefer front row in the lower bowl facing the stage. Those are the seats I personally love the most. Bring binocs if you wanna see what neil is doing. It's much more exciting to be back a ways, if you ask me...
  16. QUOTE (Pause Rewind Replay @ Apr 27 2010, 03:11 PM) Did the Citicard presale for Tampa and W Palm and while I can't complain about the seats, the price increase since 2007 for W Palm Beach is ridiculous. I'm not including the "facility fee" and "Convenience charge" that they tack on, I mean the original ticket price. Even Tampa went from $76 base price in '07 to $95 this year.. a 25% rise in 3 years, but since Orlando was $95 in '08, it didn't faze me. But West Palm Beach went from a face value of $72 in 2007 to (drumroll please) $119 this year... a 65% leap in 3 years Of course I paid up... good old supply and demand wins every time.... they demand everything in my wallet and I supply it If you didn't know, WPB is a "high-rent" district. I'm sure the taxes on that property are ridiculous. It's the greatest band on earth, so why not splurge a little? (boy I'm sounding hypocritical these days. hehe) BTW, peeps, I was car-jacked in West Palm Beach on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard off I-95 at the Tank n Tummy gas station while stopping to get directions. I would recommend you DO NOT STOP THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! The cops said I was lucky to get out of there alive. It is the intersection of pblakes and Tamarind blvd and although west palm is known for it's wealth, that particular location is extremely dangerous. Be cautious.
  17. It's old news, but damn good news. I admire Matt Cameron's style quite a bit...
  18. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 27 2010, 11:37 AM) They should just change the name to Ticketscalper.com. Because that's what they became years ago That is hilarious, Metaldad!! Not very funny in reality, though. A legal monopoly that has the audacity to drive prices up (even higher, yet!) via auctions. Criminal. That just doesn't seem right...
  19. Dream Theater didn't come to Detroit last year, either. A clear indication of our economic status...
  20. QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Apr 28 2010, 09:29 AM) anyone else? i just cannot make the trip to Ohio. this sucks! Why not go to Sarnia, Ontario??? (get a passport)
  21. They play too long to suffer thru an opening act. even if it were Tool.
  22. QUOTE (RushFanForever @ Apr 14 2010, 06:29 PM) Since Rush is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Moving Pictures, the song 'Battlescar' was also performed on that particular tour. I think Rush should bring out Kim Mitchell for the song at the Toronto show, since it is also 30 years and film it for a DVD extra. Anyone agree? I was joking on my last post. I think it would be pretty kewl if they did that!
  23. QUOTE (tick @ Apr 13 2010, 02:33 PM) QUOTE (nappy2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 07:41 PM) Progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER will play a few select headlining shows on some of the "off" days throughout the band's North American tour with IRON MAIDEN. Commented DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy: "Please note these will not be traditional DREAM THEATER shows in terms of production. As it is in the midst of the MAIDEN tour, we are not carrying our usual lighting and video show... So instead these will be small intimate club shows... just like the good (?) ol' days! "So come sweat it out with us..." The dates are as follows: June 21 - Roseland Theater, Portland, OR July 02 - Newport Music Hall, Columbus, OH July 10 - Palladium, Worcester, MA At 35 bucks a ticket the Palladium may replace Rush as my one concert this Summer. Good call, Tick! I saw DT in 1992 for six bucks and their basic show was awesome! Just some colored lighting and strobes is all you need for a great experience. Trust me...
  24. No. That would dip into their bottom-line profitability! no way!
  25. Whoa!! If only they hadn't been caught. Great scam.... A+++ lol
