  1. Progressive lens sunglasses. After my annual eye exam a new prescription, my optometrist asked what I used for sun protection for my eyes. I advised him the sunshades I wear over my glasses, which I had picked up from Bass Pro World. He said "Huh? With your plan we can do full polarized sunglasses, in your prescription, for $160". I said, "Jeez, run with it." Damn, are those things good! Block out the sun, glare down to zero, and full vision- I have a near for reading and computer/ far for driving prescription , and these are great. No thick frames, but definitely lenses so dark they won't even know my name. How I got by without these is nuts.
  2. Reminded me of my heart blockage Christmas night 2017. Stabilized in the ER that night, signed consents and had angioplasty and stent insertion next day. Painful and scary nonetheless.
  3. ...last night in Bucharest. He's been stabilized and has responded. Scary! https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/american-guitarist-al-di-meola-173848103.html
  4. I'd wait. If SC hands his ass to him this Saturday like the Ducks did, stick a fork in him, he done.
  5. Wtf is up with these unis the Bengals are in tonight?
  6. Continuing in this sick trend I was tempted to post "Girl You Know It's True-" Naw, hell no, I'm not subjecting the brotherhood and sisterhood to that torture!
  7. The Torture Never Stops by Frank Zappa The Ballad of Dwight Fry by Alice Cooper Some might consider this piece scary, others just disturbing- Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima, by Krzysztof Penderecki:
  8. I remember the girls in my junior high classes swooning over the exploits of Illya Kuryakin. RIP, David.
  9. First books after onslaught of 9/11 volumes: Clive Cussler-Condor's Fury: A Novel from The NUMA Files, by Graham Brown Tom Clancy: Weapons Grade, by Don Bentley
  10. Del Shannon-24 Greatest Hits Mike Oldfield-Elements, Pt. 1 (CD's 1 & 2 of 4 CD set)
  11. Denver Broncos just scored on a kickoff return. Unfortunately it was after another Dolphins TD. 20 Denver - Miami 63 8:50 in the 4th. Whoops, spoke too soon! 67 yard run from scrimmage, 70-20 Fins, 8:00 to go.
  12. In house made Detroit style pizza. Admittedly not scratch, prepackged dough and jarred sauce. Italian sausage and Homel's new cup pepperoni.
  13. In his prime Dutch MMA fighter Alastair Overeem regularly cycled horsemeat into his diet. He claimed it helped give him a "jacked" physique that haters attributed to the use of anabolic steroids.
  14. MSU AD Alan Haler sent Mel a letter stating his intent to "terminate the agreement for cause"-sounds like Mel is getting the boot.
  15. Geno Smith throws a pass into the stratosphere, not under any duress, gets flagged for intentional grounding, and Pete goes nuts. Yeah it was in favor of my Lions, but that wasn't even remotely close.
  16. Colorado State marches 98 yards, scores touchdown and 2 point conversion to tie in last minute of regulation. Woo!
  17. At my annual eye exam today I was advised cataracts are starting to form. No real obstruction of vision yet, but two years from now, I may need surgery.
  18. The Lives They Saved was stunning, considering the scope of the operation. For comparison: In 1940 a flotilla evacuated some 340,000 Britsh soldiers from Dunkirk over the span of 9 days. On 9/11 a flotilla shuttled 278,000+ survivors off the southern tip of Manhattan in 12 hours. Near!y all the evacuees walked from Ground Zero and the surrounding area to the points of departure.
  19. If it gets anywhere remotely close, G3 Reunion Tour-Satch, Vai, & EJ.
  20. Michigan State coach Mel Tucker suspended without pay pending an ongoing investigation of sexual wrongdoing. Another "he said, she said" consensuality issue. 'Bama loses, but is #10 in AP Coaches Poll. WTF?
  21. #2, Running Toward Danger, by The Newseum. A picture album of 9/11 photos, with most comments by photographers taking the pictures. #3, The Lives They Saved, by Douglas L. Keeny. The story of the largest marine evacuation in history- the 9/11 transporting nearly 300,000 people from lower Manhattan to places of safety, as told by the captains and crew of the ferry boats, Coast Guard vessels, Port Authority boats, and privately owned marine craft involved.
