I am a low to mid tenor, so I can do most of the songs from the 80s on quite naturally, I rarely though attempt the high parts like on free-will, and generally switch to my lower range for them.
-
Well I can understand it being annoying sometimes, but it becomes tempting to use when writing a large comment and you come to a long title, generally I try to write the title in full the first time I use it in a post then abbreviate it afterward. Yeah, the song abbreviations are silly, except for The Spirit of Radio, as TSOR, but the album abbreviations I find quite helpful
-
Thank goodness they changed production companies
-
Power Windows, Though I can swallow the higher stuff, I much prefer his melodic lower register and he nails it on this album, while still rocking
-
Power Windows hands down for Geddy, For Neil, if we are talking diversity of percussion, I would go for A farewell to kings, for technique, I would go with Moving pictures, and for Alex, honestly I gotta say Clockwork Angels
-
I put in my vote, by the way, have you done any art related to the power windows album?

I want to read this book, and will probably get it soon, but I already know of Rush's Inclusion. Not to mention I also love the inclusion of Oingo Boingo's Dead Mans Party and They Might Be Giants' Don't Lets Start. Two Obscure bands that happen to be my second and fourth favorite respectively.

Hey, so I was looking through the new articles posted about Rush on the Power Windows website, when I found an article interviewing Geddy, and he is asked his top favorite albums. Of course he is hesitant because like all of them have said, it is like picking a favorite child, he did narrow it down to 2112, Moving Pictures, Power Windows, and Clockwork Angels (not in that order), because he felt they were the most satisfying. I think it does not shock anyone to see 2112, MP, and CA on there, but I am wondering what everyone thinks of Power Windows being up there. I am over-joyed, but slightly shocked, seeing as how not many interviews from the era have them particularly happy with the album compared to how much praise they are giving CA. I would be even more shocked if they did not feature more than halve the album over the last two tours. I was just wondering what everyone else thought, if it is or surprising or not. Here is the link to the article. http://www.list.co.uk/article/51389-interview-with-rush-singer-bassist-geddy-lee/

Yeah, it made #5 for me, check the bottom of page two.

Countdown was a good closer, but it was held back, much like the rupert hine production on presto, lots of potential, not alot of final output.

Headlong Flight: Does it crack your top 5 favorite Rush songs?
RushBoingo replied to Tombstone Mountain's topic in Rush
Nope, not even close, The Anarchist breaks my top ten though. -
I think that you should realize that the band, their choice of guitars, and everything else related to Rush do not revolve around YOU. "One last insult to me..."? Really? I know their choices don't revolve around me, I am just upset at a broken childhood dream. Xanadu was the first song that kind of moved rush from being a band I was interested in, to a band I would devote too, so from that day it was always kind of the big dream to see the iconic guitar playing at the time my favorite song (now number 3)

Clockwork Angels Tour DVD Tracklist (Possible SPOILERS!)
RushBoingo replied to GerryLee2112's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Two things I am hoping for: 1. An option when starting the show to play set A, B, or to mix them (I know the show locations would change, but I would like to relive my concert experience so it would be weird stopping at Grand Designs, changing discs, watching middletown, change back etc) 2. A documentary feature on the string section, some backstage stuff, maybe rehersal footage, interviews, etc -
Middletown Dreams beats TBE by far, (limelight is nice, but a standard to hear, so it's a second preference) The Pass beats Bravado a ton too Wish Them Well beats Seven Cities of Gold by a tiny bit I love Dreamline, but equally support Manhattan project for being off my favorite album, even though it's my least favorite song off it. Good thing they dropped working man, it was a terrible idea to alternate it with TSOR

Tom Sawyer: The Big Money TSOR: Marathon Limelight: Dreamline Freewill: Force Ten 2112: The Anarchist/Carnies (vote given to Anarchist) YYZ: Where's My Thing
-
They played Moving Pictures in it's entirety because that's what a majority of what THE FANS WANTED. Not just you. And the Tour Sucked! These are the same fans who want to hear Limelight. Freewill, Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Closer To the Heart, Subdivisions, Xanadu and The Trees every concert. And what exactly is so wrong with those songs? Oh! By the way, you forgot The Spirit of Radio and 2112 Overture/Temples/ Finale! Regardless, It still leaves 16 other songs to choose from to complete the setlist. Now that said, I think the most possible next outing for the guys would be in 2015. Not only would it be the 40th Anniversary of Fly By Night and Caress of Steel but more importantly, it will also be the 35th Anniversary of Permanent Waves. It would be nice to hear Permanent Waves in its Entirety and finally give the fans their much requested Jacob's Ladder. It would make for an intereting setlist! :rush: :haz: :rush: But don't forget, it will also be the 30th for Power Windows, and that album has songs that NEED to be played (yes it's sarcasm but at the same time it's my favorite album so I can dream)

Ask Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee Your Questions!
RushBoingo replied to ShlappinDahBass's topic in Rush
I would ask them what there reaction would be if they played Tai Shan (or some other very un-zepplin song) to their 18 year old selves and told them they would write that one day, how would they react. -
Differences b/w studio and live versions that you like?
RushBoingo replied to zappafrank's topic in Rush
Oh boy this will be a long list The Big Money when they cut to a sound clip and then jam out of it Subdivisions and Distant Early Warning on ASOH, just feels like there is a lot more emotion in those recordings Force Ten on the CA tour with the added guitar solo Witch Hunt any time, as it has a Peter Collins like crunch to it where as the studio had a restricted Rupert Hine Feel The Weapon, count floyd, need I say more Dreamline, again with a lack of Hine production And all the CA tour songs with the added strings -
1. Power Windows 2. A Farewell To Kings 3. Clockwork Angels 4. Hold Your Fire 5. Test For Echo 6. Signals Had to do six because it really is a tight and ever changing battle for spots 3-6. I also til recently for some reason could not rank Clockwork Angels, I loved it, but it did not feel right at any position. Though AFOK is 2 I almost never listen to it because it feels weird not listening to it all the way through and not playing Hemispheres immediatley after.

I am not able to catch the ceremony due to not having HBO, what of the Rush part did they cut (e.g. Did they abridge the speeches, did they show all three songs etc)
