  1. Definitely could have done without the disco beat... but aside from that the drums are amazing in this song. It's also one of my favorite songs lyrically speaking. But my favorite part of the song is the guitar solo... it sort of sneaks up on me and then slowly I find myself immersed in all of its intricacies as it explodes into my brain. Alex must have used the Gefilter to help craft this solo because it is pure musical genius!
  2. The songs on this album sound sooooooo much better live. Secret Touch on S&A Live is magical. I really wish they would have played Peaceable Kingdom for one of the live DVDs.
  3. Haha! Intimate as in everyone attending should be able to meet and talk with everyone else attending at some point during the weekend. (I believe they are limiting the event to 250 people maximum).
  4. Hey everybody. I haven't been on the boards in a while, but I just found about this great event and wanted to pass along to everyone here. There is going to be an intimate gathering of Rush fans on Labor Day weekend in the Pocono Mountains in PA. There will be two Rush tribute bands playing, both of whom I've seen multiple times, and both are outstanding. See the flyer for other special guests including David Barrett and Michael Sadler (Saga). Here is a link to the flyer for the event: https://overtimeangels.org/documents/ Earlybird cost is $259 per person, which includes buffet meals and overnight accommodations in a summer camp style setting. After May 31, the cost will be $299 per person. I bought my ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rushcamp-2017-tickets-32990623844 I know several awesome Rush peeps who are going to this, and would love to meet up with some TRFers there as well. If you are going please let me know so we can make it a point to meet up!
  5. He still is a very cool guy. And extremely talented! I'll pass along your message. Or better yet - come out to Rams Head tonight and talk to him yourself!
  6. Simply put, the answer is yes. But I think EagleMoon hit the nail right on the head.
  7. If anyone is interested in seeing the best Rush Tribute Band I've ever seen, they are playing Rams Head Live in Baltimore tomorrow (Saturday) night September 3. They are playing as part of the "Monsters of Tribute" event, which also features 3 other tribute bands. Here is the link for anyone who may be interested: http://www.ramsheadlive.com/events/detail/311930 I haven't seen any of the other bands on the playbill, but you have my word that kRush alone is worth the price of admission.
  8. Sigh… I rode right by BWI Airport last night on my way to a kRUSH show (awesome RUSH tribute band!). I flew out of BWI 4 times for R40 shows last year, one of those being the LA Forum. It made me heartsick.
  9. Maybe this would be an option to ease Neil back in (though he never took it easy on instrumentals!) This would be such a cool collection - especially if they added a couple of new extended instrumentals! Wow would I love to see something like this happen. But all any of us can really do is wait and see what the future brings. Sure, if enough of us guess and pull predictions out of our arses, someone by sheer happenstance will end up being right and be able to beat their chest and say "I told you so". Kind of like hitting the lottery and saying "see, I knew those were the right numbers to play!"

  11. That video is from a year and a half ago. Here's a whole thread about it: http://www.therushfo...again-feb-21st/ Exactly. That is what Geddy HOPES might happen.
  12. Great show last night Ffej! Great setlist and you guys were awesome. You f#$*ing rock brother!!! Looking forward to your August 27 show in Harrisburg.
  13. Even if it was a short encounter, it was a pleasure to meet you...and thanks for the R40 candles. My pleasure. I'll pass your thank you along to my friend Lilli who came up with the idea and made them. She'll be happy to know they found good homes! Great idea from Lilli. I've found a good spot on my working desk and when I'm in a Rush mood, I switch it on. :sundog: Ha! That's freakin' awesome!

  15. Very cool stuff. Thanks for posting. Glad I got to meet you guys out there, but wish I could have hung out a bit longer. If I had it to do over again I'd have flown out Friday instead of Saturday then maybe I could have gotten to the Forum earlier.
  16. I was so thrilled to hear that song! And, heh heh, it was funny that the boy band (N'Sync?) was playing right across the street the same night. Not N'Sync… I want to say it was One Direction but I'm not positive. Whoever it was, they were oddly in quite a few cities at the same time as Rush throughout R40.
  17. Yeah, but that is a lot of money for something like that. Also, after all of the intricate descriptions about the various items, it says in all caps: "YOU ARE ONLY BIDDING ON THE RUSH MOVING PICTURES LP ITEM".
  18. Agree, basically high school in a nutshell too haha. "I just want to be a sports announcer, could you help me to reach that goal?" "No you need to learn about National Parks and how to dissect and how to write useless poetry that can't even be converted into song lyrics etc. in case you want to be a Science or English teacher. This was from Grand Designs, right? Indeed it is from Grand Designs. And while I like everything you said in relation to that lyric, my inspiration for posting it was the preceding post, about "the silent express".
  19. Thanks for the kind words! We appreciate you spreading some Rush love our way. Check out www.solarfederationband.com for some recent videos from our March 5 show in Lancaster. We had a great film and recording crew out that night that put together an awesome 5-camera mix with awesome audio. Cheers! Thank YOU Ffej, for the great performance! I've already seen most of the videos. Look forward to seeing you guys again!
  20. He looked pretty well tonight! He's pretty much a total freakin' badass.
  21. There is a very good Kiss tribute band playing at The Strand Theater in Lakewood, NJ tonight. They recreate the 1975 Live Alive tour complete with authentic stage show. I've seen them before, and they are outstanding. And the Rush tribute band (KRush) opening for them is even better. I've seen them open for this Kiss band before, and they stay true to the '70s theme by ripping through an ass kicking all '70s Rush set that you don't want to miss.
  22. Last summer I saw (what's left of) Yes, and Alan White is playing pretty pathetic these days! Not the guy that played in the 80's and 90's, and even some of the early 2000's! I don't disagree with Neil's attitude. quit while you're on top, and still able to function properly.... As I said to a friend a few weeks ago at a party... It has to end sometime, the fact that they did a great tour was a plus..they COULD have just said "that's it, thanks...here's a live compilation, enjoy" and not toured... I was disappointed there wasn't the "usual" second leg, but.... Neil must have been hurting pretty badly by the end of the R40 tour. Personally I would have hated to have seen him struggle and not be able to give his 100%. Definitely! Sad to watch it go away, but better than seeing struggle... Hell my dad's old big band guys were struggling 30 years after they were big...these guys did 41! Take it for what it's worth!!! It could have ended for good in 1996! You're right. We were lucky to get anything after his tragedy. I think the people who really "don't get it" are generally people who are young and just don't know what it's like to get old. Neils job is like running a marathon every night. At some point a person can't put themselves through that, and doesn't want to... especially if they have health issues on top of it. This makes a lot of sense and is probably generally true. But Geddy is older than Neil and apparently he doesn't "get it" either, as he desperately wants Neil to keep touring even more so than the fans do.
  23. I went with Finding My Way. That opening riff and the energy level it brings is just awesome. TSOR is a close second and Bastille Day a close 3rd for the same reason. I also thought The Anarchist was a fantastic opener for the R40 tour.
