  1. This shouldn't even need to be explained: Neal Schon did not invent the Arpeggio.
  2. Best show i've ever seen. Those last 3 episodes, holy crap!
  3. Head on over to the "Albums You've listened to today" thread. Great way to find out what others are listening to.

  5. I don't know who Rush could have open for them. Primus already did it and they do their own thing now. It's not going to be some established band that's been on the road for years. And it certainly could not be the Foo Fighters! Those guys out sell Rush constantly, it would be the single most lopsided concert bill in history.
  6. http://www.cygnus-x1...-05.03.1992.php These are all close ups. The Counterparts tourbook pictures contain a few RTB stage shots. Not much though. http://www.2112.net/.../Wallpaper2.htm Not many good full-stage shots....
  7. Steven Wilson to produce the next Rush album.
  8. The editing is a tad hokey. I was really hoping for nice long cuts that allowed you to spend some time with individual members. I guess all concert films can't be Stop Making Sense.
  9. One of my favorite songs from VT and definitely a late-career highlight. This song gets such abuse by fans and I'll never know why.
  10. Excellent thread. Neil all the way. Just let him stand about 10 feet away and throw drumsticks. Those things hurt!
  11. I'd trim a few minutes off of One Little Victory. Other then that, the album is (and has always been) perfect at what it is trying to achieve.
  12. Of course the worthless troll expresses his distaste in the most dismissive and immature ways possible. Care to provide any objective reasoning as to why it was "a shit of a song" or are you just going to run away as usual?
  13. I do think that they should put some limits on it. One track of drums, one of bass, 2 guitars, one or two layers of vocals, and a synth/effect track should be all that's needed. This layers and layers of guitar stuff is just insane. I'd understand it if there was one track for rhythm, one for leads, and a couple of tracks to do little flourishes with here and there, but it just seem like these days it's 20 rhythm tracks right on top of each other. I think that the Anarchist is a very good example of a slick, conservatively produced modern Rush tune. Everything is in it's right place. Clockwork Angels is the exact opposite. It's overly noisy and buried under layers and layers of rhythm guitar, which has made it nearly unenjoyable for me. As for people crapping on modern music, may I please direct you to Radiohead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFYOkfpBrSY EDIT: I just realized how appropriate it was for me to attach this particular song to this particular post. This song is a good example of a huge number of layers achieving what would be otherwise impossible. There is a ton of stuff going on in this song, 2 different guitars, a bass player, synthesizers of some sort, three drummers, a brass section, and 2 vocalists. Yet, every element is distinct. Each "voice" adding a unique part to the mix. Similar to an orchestra.
  14. Lakeside Park What You're Doing Half the World Sweet Miracle Ghost of a Chance I just don't care about these songs. These are not even bad, they just don't move me in any way.
  15. My job plays oldies radio over the PA system. Under the Boardwalk, My Girl, ABC-123, and of course the king of all crappy over played songs: I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Pure garbage.
  16. They'll play it the same way though, and there's no Paul Northfield and his brick wall in the arena so how will it sound different? The remixed version has a new guitar solo in it.
  17. If they tour again. The new "Ceiling Unlimited" has to be in the setlist.
  18. Why are you even here if you hate everything about the band so much ? You take every opportunity to cut them down in some way. Don't you have anything better to do? Untrue, I like the band very much, There, wherein, lies the "problem". No, you "like" a band from the late 1970's/early 1980's. No. I like a band that's made some very poor decisions over the past +10 years. No. They made decisions that you don't like. It's sad that you are immature enough to think that everything that you don't like is inherently bad.
  19. I think that La Villa Strangiato from Time Machine is basically the best performance I've heard from them. Bar none.
  20. Porcupine Tree: Open Car/Start of Something Beautiful The Incident Pt: 1-14 (If I do break these up though I'll listen to Draw the Line-Time Flies or Octane Twisted-I Drive the Hearse) Rush: Double Agent/Leave that Thing Alone Frank Zappa: Sleep Dirt/The Ocean is the Ultimate Solution Primus: Here Come the Bastards/SGT. Baker
  21. I understand what you mean there, although the story starts and ends on positive notes, so I see it as a happy story rather than dystopian. Have you read the novel? Maybe my viewpoint is coloured by that, also. What do you think about Vapor Trails? Do you see that album as 'world sucks' too? I was surprised at the positivity in the lyrics, considering what Neil had been through. Yes and no but mostly yes. lol The main theme of VT is coming back from adversity and hardtimes but the album still has its share of "everything is hopeless" songs ie The Stars Look Down, How It Is, Vapor Trail. I was with you until How It Is. I'm a huge fan on that song (see my signature) and it is not an "everything is hopeless song". Quite contrary, I think it is one of the most gorgeous and hopeful songs that they've ever done.
