  1. I heard that song by Tal Bachman. Never new that was his son! Someone told me that Randy Bachman was a huge influence on Neil Young. Like Young looked up to Bachman's guitar playing in high school. Does anyone know any truth to that?
  2. I've been listening to some BTO lately. I only know five songs by the boys, but they'e awesome. "Let it Ride" "TCB" "Hey You" "You aint seen nuttin yet" "Roll on down the highway" I love the raw and gruff power in their voices and guitar playing. I kind of think of them as "The Canadian ZZTop" Want to know what are some albums or songs to look into. And if there are any fans of the band. Or if anybody's got any stories about them.
  3. I especially love the one part of the song where it goes all like "BRAGGHHH" And then, And then he goes all like "CRAWWWSSHHH" And then the other guy goes like "SoooWeeeesssH :D-13: And then "BRGRGGRGRGRGRRGRG" :bang bang: And then "BOOOOOMM", "CRWASHH", "CRACH, CRACH< CRAH" :Neil: :madra: What's that song? "Rivendell"? Yeah, that's my jam.
  4. Totatly agree with you on Territories. That's just awesome. My other favorites include: The main wall of sound in "Body Electric" The lyics "pilot of Anola Gay, Flying out of the shock wave, on that August Day." Numerous drum fills on Headlong Flight. And of course the greatest countdown in any shong, from "Fith Order of Angles" - In the End: "One, two, three, FOURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!" :haz: <-That is rock and roll, baby!
  5. I live in Virginia, so Shenandoah National Park is one I frequent a lot. The skyline drive is perfect, if all you want to do is drive and take pictures. There are some really good hikes and waterfalls. Also Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is a beautiful gem in Virginia. Other Parks I've been to are Cuyahoga Valley (OH) and Zion (UT). All 4 of these places are deserving of a vaction.
  6. Power Windows and Permanent Waves I think are his best. So many tough subjects he tackled about in those albums. Freewill, Manhatten Project, Natural Science and Marathon, are what I think his best lyics. Freewill and Marathon were huge game changers in my life, and helped me turn around my life for better.
  7. Well I'm pulling for Queen to take the Gold, now that RUSH is out
  8. Here's where we get into the "overrated" vs. "I don't particularly care for them" issue. You can say he's not your favorite, but I don't think it's fair to suggest that his impact on rock guitar playing can be overstated. As one of those guys bathory refers to above (and, incidentally, the 1984 tour WAS amazing :)) I can remember when no one sounded like Eddie (before the album Van Halen came out) and when EVERYONE sounded like Eddie (from about 1980-1988). You be the judge if that's a coincidence. I like him as synth player
  9. I don't really have a say in who's an overrated guitar player or not. (I can't even play smoke on the water on guitar, on harmonica that's a different story ;) ) But, this was the first guy who came to my mind when I think overrated. I don't mind his guitar playing, in fact I enjoy David Evans's guitar playing. BUT, when you have a nickname like 'The Edge', you better damn well be able to play the hell out of the guitar! And I don't think he lives up to that nickname.
  10. A list of the best RUSH albums, or all-time rock albums that doesn't include Permanent Waves is a joke. One of the few albums where every song in my opion is perfect. Theres a central theme amoungst all the songs, the production is high quality, the energy is there in every song, and the musical perfection is clearly visable in every song. PM is my favorite album. And its such a joy to listen to.
  11. I've listenes to 2112 numerous times... So, um at what part does it reference Greek Gods? Also I remember that jaggoff's review of Clockwork Angels. 'Mount Nerd'? What the hell is that supposed to mean?
  12. One of my favorite bands and my most favorite frontman. My first experience with GWAR was listenting to the "Live from Mount Fuji" album. Boy that was an eye-opener. I've been fan ever since. I know him and Flattus Maximus are out there battling The World Maggot...or plotting the coming apoclypse. :madra:
  13. Maybe he is trying to drum up our viewer base and send it exploding through the roof. There is always a method to HPL's madness! ;) That brought me here to this thread :hail:
  14. I know this is RS's true nature. But if this helps get RUSH more fans and exposure, then I'm for it. There's still a lot of people out there who have never experienced the spirit-altering enigma of "la villa strangiato" and that makes me sad.

    RushGoober!

You all had 'roast' to a forum member? You guys are nerds. And I'm sad i missed the whole thing :(
  16. Great topic, now I know the answer to all yinz security questions :P
  17. This is kind of like the time my brother-in-law told me he figured out "Bytor and The Snow Dog". The ending riffs of the "battle section", (you know before the slow part) is suppose to mimic the song sturcture of "Bingo" (you kno the B-I-N-G-O part) Any truth to that?
  18. I love these spoof reviews and interviews. I always fall for them, because they're so beleivable, but they got just the right amount of wit. 'Andy Ladouche' I lost it at work when I read that.
  19. Pretty funny. Makes me think they're like the three stooges. Nyuk nyuk nyuk :)

  21. I was just gonna say "The night Santa went Crazy". But I'll say Big daddy voodoo's version of the Snow/Heat Miser song is awesome! Also B.E. Taylor and Donnie Iris singin "God Rest" is the best song every
  22. This show has become one of my favorites. I just love how they can take a joke and just keep making it more and more rediculous. They're good at that. Most comidians fall flat on their face if they tried that.

    MSTK3

Favortie MSTK3 espisodes, riffs, quotes, songs, whatever! I'd have to say favorite Mike episode is the 'Final Sacrifice'. And favorite Joel episode would be 'Santa Clause Conquers the Martians'. Favortie song would have to be the 'Puma man theme'...Puma Man he flies like a moron, Puma man will he find true love. So what are your favorites?
  24. Rush giving a speech at the HOF? I think Alex burned that bridge with his speech last year. ;)
