  1. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Dec 20 2011, 06:33 PM) Why wasn't I born in the 60s??!!! Basically, pop culture was in every way superior in the 70s to that of pop culture today. Think about it - no suffering through rap, pop-country, American Idol, etc. And I could see Rush on the Hemispheres tour! Perhaps... But then you might not have been a Rush fan. You might have been like me and missed the Hemispheres tour altogether and become a fan in the 90's. Oh, the concerts I missed!
  2. That's cool! Thanks for sharing. My husband and I were out shopping and saw a guy drive by with a starman decal on his car. I wanted to chase him down and say "hi" but we were on foot and he was long gone. Rush fans are so rare around here, we had to laugh at our excitement.
  3. Yes, I would love to hear The Enemy Within! Although I don't really like Freeze, I'm sure they would improve it if they played it live. I think the Weapon and Witch Hunt have both been over-played, but I'll take them along with the other two.l
  4. QUOTE (Presto-a RUSH fan! @ Dec 20 2011, 02:05 AM) Finally after watching the last 4 episodes and then the 2 hour season finale that stacked up on my DVR I have to say I enjoyed this show. Everything said in this thread, good and bad about this show, has been true. It's a PG13 adventure show on network tv that airs at 8pm so what else do you expect? If it was on SyFy, FX or AMC, or at least aired at 10pm I'd be thoroughly disappointed, but since I figured it'd be made to appeal to a mass audience and it was on a network, I had low expectations. Alot of those were fulfilled. The plot was alot more simple than I figured it would be. Each time I started to think the show could go in a cool direction, it went down the path that seemed the most uncomplicated. Although the last scene of the finale and what they found on the planet 85 million years in the past was intriguing. It makes me wonder where the show is gonna go in season 2. All that said, is this a great show? No. Is it good. IMO yes. The special effects are as good as just about any movie and amazing for network tv. Even though they have alot of teenage angst story lines, that is to be expected since it's on a network at 8pm, the cool scenery, special effects and some aspects of the plot make up for it. Overall it's decent little adventure show and I am glad I sat thru some of the ridiculous to get to the end of season 1. It's one of those shows that I don't rush to watch but when I finally watch it and suspend disbelief and forgive cheesiness, I enjoy it. Again, I look forward to season 2, in so much as, to find out what the deal is with what they found. And when I am caught up on all my favorite shows, I will watch 2 or 3 episodes back to back and take them for what they are worth. A decent network sci-fi show. (Fringe would be an AMAZING network sci-fi show) I agree with your statements about this show, and am disappointed about all the negative comments. I won't be surprised if they cancel the show, because that's what they seem to do with all the good shows. Sure, the violence is hokey. The characters survive all kind of violence that should have killed them. It's terribly unrealistic in that sense. But, like you said, it's a PG-13 show, and I think all of us would be a lot better off with seeing less violence on TV. Overall, I think it's a great show.
  5. QUOTE (Jag2112 @ Dec 19 2011, 08:34 AM) QUOTE (On TheRoad To Adventure @ Dec 2 2011, 06:04 PM) Am I the only one who feels uneasy about putting their address into these online forms? I would feel more comfortable if they just asked for the name and e-mail address. Then they could just contact the winner and get the address for shipping. Or am I too paranoid? That's a fair point, however I can assure you that your information is secure and safe. I only collect the address information so I can quickly prepare the package for delivery. But that is food for thought on my end for next year's contest And by the way, THIS year's contest is drawing to a close so if you haven't entered yet, now's the time to do it. Good luck, all- Thanks for the explanation. I have entered the contest and I hope I win!
  6. I went with #2 because I love Gumby, and because one of the windows is slightly crooked, so it looks more unique.
  7. QUOTE (CMWriter @ Dec 14 2011, 04:36 PM) I don't think I've gone more than a couple weeks without at least some RUSH - not in the past two or three years anyways. There's just so much music and I never get sick of hearing it. (: Ditto. I've been a fan since 1995, but didn't become a hard-core fan until the first time I saw them in concert during S&A. Since then, I listen to Rush almost daily. Can't seem to go more than a couple of weeks without Rush, usually when I'm away from home visiting family.
  8. of course! I've only seen them 3 times, and that's not nearly enough.
  9. QUOTE (trenken @ Dec 12 2011, 06:33 PM) It doesnt matter. At this point they are so irrelevant to popular music and radio stations that releasing a single doesnt really do anything for them. They may do it, they may not, who knows, that's not up to Rush, that's the record companies business, but for Rush the band it wouldnt really benefit them all that much I dont think. I agree. At this point, I would be happy if they released anything. I haven't heard anything newer than Time Stand Still on the radio in years.
  10. I thought this thread was a joke at first! I had know idea anyone still wore these things. The point about improving posture is a good one, though.
  11. I do this all the time! So nice to know I'm not the only one. I read my post, and then think, "That sounds totally inane!" or "I'm going to show my age with that post!" or "Why bother getting involved in this ridiculous thread!"
  12. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire Focused high on soaring ambitions Consumed in a single desire
  13. Presto. Even though it's not one of my favourites, it's growing on me.
  14. Happy birthday, Tommy! (a day late). And here's Geddy, Alex and Neil singing Happy Birthday to you!
  15. QUOTE (angel in my armor @ Dec 6 2011, 05:09 PM) QUOTE (librarian @ Dec 6 2011, 06:08 PM) and this is important because? Same importance as the umpteen dozen other pointless threads such as bitching about Geds voice or what "Rush song are you listening to right now" and so on..thought this was a rush forum..perhaps I was mistaken.. I'm with you. I think any and all facts about Rush are interesting and important.
  16. We are secrets to each other Each one's life a novel No-one else has read
  17. play of light a photograph the way I used to be some half-forgotten stranger doesn't mean that much to me
  18. Although he didn't tour, I saw him sing "My Favourite Headache" live on "Canada AM" at the time. That's what prompted me to buy the album. I later heard that he did a record signing somewhere, but obviously not in my part of the country or I would have been there! I love the album, but other than the title song, it took awhile to grow on me. My favourites are "The Present Tense" and "Grace to Grace."
