  1. Is Perry not coming back? I heard he was not playing but didn't know the details. That really puts a wrench in things. Do you think Kane wants to return to the Hawks? All he will get is a bunch of grief for not being a savior, not a happy prospect IMHO
  2. I knew you would not be happy with this turn of events. Bet he wants to play with DeBrincat again, that would be worth watching.
  3. Chapter 3 is the hardest, listening to all his family went through was so sad and emotional. Grateful they survived. I have made it to the part just after Neil joined the band. Taking a break and finishing the Way of the Bear.
  4. This will be hilarious, hubby and I are planning on going
  5. Utah closes out last PAC 12 game against Colorado 23-17. Colorado sat out QB Shadeur Sanders and Utah had to play their #4 QB, several players out with flu. Was a decent game but kind of low energy, neither team was doing anything flashy.
  6. According to the Athletic, Riley told them he's not interested in moving on. On another note, it has been confirmed he offered Utah's Defensive Coordinator Morgan Scalley the job at USC a week ago. But Scalley turned him down.
  7. Avs now lead the Central Division after 3 back to back wins, 5-2 Vancouver, 3-2 Wild and 3-1 Flames.
  8. I haven't heard that Lehky is out for the season but on long term disability, that would really suck if we lose him too. He is such a good player. I know some say the Avs are interested in Kane but I have my doubts they have the cap space for him. That would be lovely from my standpoint if they picked him up but I have a feeling he will stay in the East.
  9. Still in shock from last night's game, seems the Avs are still having lapses at very bad times. Letting the Preds get 2 goals in the last minute of the game was awful
  10. You have to admit Stevie Y did a good job getting the Bolts turned around. Detroit is looking like they are coming along nicely IMHO
  11. Alex Smith is a classy guy, it was fun seeing him at the Fiesta Bowl 2005. I am with you, Niners did him dirty.
  12. This ^^^ Absolutely. Carter was the only Presidential candidate I have done phone banking for and I admired them both very much .
  13. My Mom was a die hard Dodgers fan but I never took to baseball. She got our family going to the local minor league hockey team in the early 70's, The Salt Lake Golden Eagles. Got hooked and was able to see them win a few championships in the Central Hockey League '75,' 80, '81 and the IHL '87',88. Had a chance to meet Marcel Dionne and took a picture of him with my Mom at a game in Denver in the 90's. Also got Mike Richter's autograph before he went up to New York (the Denver Rangers were one of their farm clubs then). Hubby and I wanted to go to a Kings game on our honeymoon so we could see Gretzky, but in 1995 the NHL was on strike. Our local hockey team had been sold so we went to Vegas to watch the Denver Grizzlies play the Las Vegas Thunder to celebrate our wedding. Next year the Grizzlies moved to Salt Lake while the Nordiques moved to Denver. We wanted to see the US v Canada men's teams in 2002 when the Olympics came to Utah but tickets were way out of our budget. Did see the US women play 3 games, one being the final with Canada. That was a fantastic time to have the Olympics in our back yard. Only been to one actual NHL game, saw the Avs play the Thrashers in Atlanta. NHL teams I follow are Chicago Blackhawks, loved seeing them win 3 Stanley Cups, Colorado Avalanche fan due to my Mom again and I kept watching them after she passed and learned to love them. Loved seeing them win in 2022 and the 2001 win with Ray Bourque lifting the Cup still makes me tear up. Still hoping we will get to some NHL games soon, I love hockey! Became a season ticket holder for the University of Utah football team 26 years ago and have seen the team go from Mountain West to PAC 12. Hubby and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Fiesta Bowl in 2005 when we were the BCS busters. We have enjoyed the ups and downs of the team and made great friends, the games are a highlight of our year. Have traveled multiple times to Folsom Field to watch the Utes play the Buffs, seeing Ralphie run the field is one of the coolest traditions ever. Don't know with the move to the Big 12 if we will see any out of town games but will always be a Ute fan. So I think I would give myself a A-
  14. They came so close to tying it at the last...
  15. He's been on hospice care for over a year, think he has been holding on for her. It was just a couple of days ago they announced she was going to hospice too. At least she was at home with loved ones around her. Bless them both for all the work they have done for so many people, truly caring individuals. It makes me smile when I think of my relatives from Georgia who were so happy when Jimmy was elected. They both exemplified "love thy neighbor" in deeds not words only. RIP
  16. Have to realize we are only getting snippets of the events and it may not be like that the whole time. People are excited to have some contact with Geddy and some fans always act foolish, that's just how it is. I have enjoyed watching YouTube interviews with Geddy and the audio book is good, it will take time to finish it since I think it will be more enjoyable to read in snippets (IMHO) but it is nice to hear some things we didn't already know about.
  17. You are ambitious, that sounds like a lot of work. I heard a story on NPR how a group of people decided to read Finnegan's Wake and it took them years to finish it. https://www.npr.org/2023/11/17/1213890392/this-book-club-finally-finished-finnegans-wake-it-only-took-them-28-years I have been trying to read Little Women and Picture of Dorian Grey off and on for about 5 years now and haven't been able to finish either Went back to The Way of the Bear so I can finish it. Enjoy the Navajo culture and characters in these mysteries.
  18. Avs have shaken off whatever was bothering them, they had a fantastic game Saturday, scoring 6 straight goals to beat Dallas 6-3. The new guys are starting to gel and we are getting goals scored by them on a regular basis now. Cale continues to knock off another record, fastest time to 200 assists by a defenseman, passing Brian Leetch Saturday with 3 assists in the game.
  19. His accents make it come alive, it is great to hear him read this. The sad parts must have been hard to do though, bet there were some extra takes here and there.
  20. It made me cry a lot, so hard to hear all the horrible things they had to experience. God bless them for being so strong and surviving.
  21. I usually read several books at a time, one print one audio. Sometimes I need to switch back and forth but not always. However, after the chapter on Geddy's family and their horrible time in the concentration camps, I am going to need a break.
