  1. I agree with you. Haven't seen any evidence that's it's been played since the MP warm-up tour. JL is definately near the top of songs I want to see live.
  2. QUOTE (GTIMANiac @ Apr 7 2011, 12:20 PM) wear another band shirt. douchey to wear fanboi attire. Agreed. As a rule of thumb, I generally don't wear a shirt of the band I'm going to see. If you do wear a Rush shirt, make sure it is a shirt that looks well loved and worn for many years as opposed to something that looks like you bought yesterday.
  3. QUOTE (-D-RocK- @ Apr 4 2011, 12:48 PM) Ya, flying around in a private jet, staying in posh hotels and working three hours every other night must be killing them. Don't forget the 6 months of vacation since the last leg of the tour.
  4. Nice. Isn't the Chicago AFL team called Rush?? That would have been even stranger if they were the team playing.
  5. What song does Alex use the tele (Vital Signs???)
  6. If there is a change, I'll probably be heading to Greensboro Saturday night. I already have plans for Friday night, but the sudden change leaves that open for me.
  7. Are you asking so you can hunt them down and "acquire" their pass?? Welcome to our little neck of the woods!!!
  8. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Mar 20 2011, 04:48 PM) Been a huge fan since high school and have seen them a bunch of times. Ithaca 5/8/77 brought me home from Boston last Sunday. Today it was a Filmore show from 69. That Cornell show has the best AM Dew ever.
  9. QUOTE (greg2112 @ Mar 19 2011, 12:48 PM) QUOTE (Mystic Slipperman @ Mar 16 2011, 12:58 PM) I need to hit a Furthur date, or at least a Phil or Bob show. I miss live Dead!!!! GO. You wont regret it. Speaking of which, I'm going to the April 1st (I think that's the date) Furthur show in Hampton. Anyone else going???
  10. QUOTE (raygun47 @ Mar 16 2011, 02:40 PM) Just thought of something I loved about seeing the Dead. Bob Weir did a few Dylan songs live ("Queen Jane Approximately"," When I Paint My Masterpiece" are two I recall). These songs were multiple verse songs...songs I've known for years and could never remember the words to...and he never missed a lyric when I saw him. Not saying he never did, EVER...but I never saw him miss a line. So...he'd do one, then two or three songs later he'd flub a line of "Truckin'" or "Sugar Magnolia." I always loved how it seemed he took the time to reproduce Bob Dylan correctly and then blow a line everyone in the audience could sing verbatim. I loved watching Bob Weir. Some faves of his library..."Weather Report Suite," "Lost Sailor," "St. of Circumstance," "Cassidy," "Black-Throated Wind." Damn...now I have "Black-Throated Wind" playing...(Dick's Picks Vol. 23). Curse the guy who started this thread! I'm listening to the Dead again! That is one of the greatest mysteries: how Bobby could screw up the lyrics to Truckin' frequently but never on a Dylan tune. FYI - my youngest child's middle name is Cassidy.
  11. You and Jenn need to come with me to the next local Dark Star Orchestra show then. I missed last Friday's National show due to daughter's play.
  12. I love the Grateful Dead. Love their Sirius radio station. I think I have about 450 cd's of live Dead shows. My favorite year is 1969. I'll never get enough of listening to Dark Star >St. Stephen > The Eleven. 1973 and 1977 were fantastic years as well. The crispness of those '77 soundboards are the best live sound I've ever heard. One day Rush will be like the Dead and mix up their setlists as well as throwing some improvisation into their live shows.
  13. The facility to which I need to visit for work on Monday morning has a phone number ending in 2112
  14. Very cool. Tommy Shaw has the distinction (while opening for Rush) of being the first live rock and roll band I ever saw.
  15. Every single band that has had a top-40 hit over the last 20 years. There's probably a few exceptions in there, but to me: popularity is generally inversely proportional to how good a band is.
  16. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Dec 11 2009, 03:31 PM) Henry Blake without question. Potter wasn't bad, but Henry was a riot. Also, I prefer Trapper to BJ and Frank to Winchester. So, the early years are clearly better for me. Ditto for me
  17. QUOTE (pony2112 @ Feb 19 2011, 12:34 PM) Whats up Florida? I have been checking ever so often, and you can still get good seats in the lower level. Maybe they're charging too damn much and people already saw them last year. Maybe they could change up the setlist???
  18. I liked it when Geddy admitted that they were pretty high during the recording of Caress Of Steel (like we didn't already figure that out) Geddy referring to us as one of the most aromatic audiences. Neil talking about the challenge of getting La Villa Strangiato right in the studio and how they weren't going to do that again (now I understand for years why I thought they got better each album until Hemispheres, peaked, and then went downhill after that).
  19. My kids ask me every day when we can go see it. I might have to give in this weekend.
  20. I find it kind of funny, but at certain times ( ), I laugh so hard that it hurts.
  21. I watched in a couple of weeks ago. I fell asleep about 2/3 through it. Over the past two weeks, I keep meaning to watch the end but the fact that I never got around to watching it means that I must not have liked it too much (I was sober when I saw it too - BTW). Anyways, I gave up and put it back in the mail (Netflix) so I could get a new movie.
  22. My job is taste testing cookies. While it's not a big part of my job, it is one of my responsibilities.
  23. QUOTE (sullysue @ Feb 10 2011, 02:03 PM) QUOTE (Mara @ Feb 10 2011, 12:50 PM) QUOTE (sullysue @ Feb 10 2011, 02:26 PM) QUOTE (rummut71 @ Feb 10 2011, 12:07 PM) QUOTE (sullysue @ Feb 10 2011, 12:50 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Feb 9 2011, 11:07 PM) QUOTE (Blenderhead @ Feb 9 2011, 11:59 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Feb 10 2011, 12:55 AM) A doc about this kid could be interesting if he were a talented singer. Only thing is, he is not a talented singer. He's just a kid with a look that the teen girls like, and he makes money for people. So, those people will make movie about him (which only 13- and 14-year-old girls will see) which will make more money for them. Yay for them. You're such a cynic. Not a cynic! Just a person who knows that Beiber can't sing worth a shit. And when his handlers have milked him for all he's worth, and after he's out of rehab, he'll be eeking out a living doing the celebrity has-been reality TV circuit. Yeah, okay, that's kinda cynical. Maybe.... The feeling I get (without anything more than a hunch, not facts...) is that his PARENTS are cashing in big time on this kid. Anyway... ya'll keep me in your thoughts. I'm taking five little girls to this thing Saturday night for my youngest's birthday. I will do my best to keep my comments to myself during it, for my daughter's sake. I would strongly suggest earplugs to avoid tinnitus... I may need to sneak in a fifth of sumthin', too, to jazz up my $10 Coke. I'd take my iPod instead of earplugs - really drown out the sound with some Rush or Riverside! You know, real music, from actual musicians with actual talent. Good idea! I guarantee there will be a couple of rows of miserable parents in the back to hang out with. I had to chaperone for the Hannah Montana concert. I feel your pain. Good thing my girls have already moved on from Justin Bieber (he'll be out of the spotlight in 6 months tops) and I will be spared from seeing the movie.
  24. My biggest surprise (and I didn't know the setlist ahead of time) was that I didn't get any good surprises. With the great surprises on the S&A tour such as Entre Nous and Circumstances, I was expecting another 'B-side classic'. Especially with Alex mumbling about wanting to play more of these type songs before the tour. I was certainly upset not to hear Jacob's Ladder which I thought for sure was going to happen. With that said, my favorite unexpected song of the night was Marathon. Although I think the setlist to me was a dissappointment, each and every song rocked out and put a big smile on my face
  25. That would be the coolest thing ever. Maybe not for every song in the setlist, but would be very cool to have a spot in the show where 3 songs are chosen via the wheel. I couldn't care less about the lasers, lighting, pyrotechnics, videos, etc...
