Drink your apple juice and eat your chicken noodle soup. That's right, you healthy bitches! Actually we think I have strep so apple juice buuurrrnnnsss. 5. QUOTE (ridertoo98 @ Nov 15 2010, 01:41 PM) A migrain headache. I used to have such bad migraines I was on two prescribed oral medications plus a prescribed nasal spray (for migraines). Now I just have one prescribed medication, but I haven't had a migraine in about nine months. I feel for you; they are not fun. I am sick. Someone at one of the places I volunteer at came in with strep, and although I doubt I have strep, I have a sore throat, bad breath, and the like, but no fever. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I just hate being sick.
  6. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Nov 14 2010, 02:08 AM) Here are my girls, Aspen (front) and Hickory. They will celebrate their 9th and 10th birthdays over the next couple of months: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/betera/DSCF0526.jpg And IChoseFreeWill, I think mice and rats are cute. I feel horrible when my girls get a mouse. I try to love all animals, so I'm feeling terribly guilty that I killed a centipede earlier. Really should have tried to trap it and let it out. But then, I used to feel bad when the spider who I let live under the baseboards in my kitchen one summer would...um...have them for dinner. I guess whatever you do, somebody's gonna get it... I love the white spot! Super cute!! I don't have any pictures of Clara, the grey and white kitty, but this is Tiki, post surgery (she was spayed, poor thing). I caught her in a moment of sleepy shame. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/71648_459931195736_517040736_6001602_2674859_n.jpg This is my baby (well, she's not mine, she belongs to my BFF, but I lie and say she's mine because she loves me), Luna, the half Andalusian/Arab pinto cross. She's adorable, super cute, sweet, you name it. And she's huge. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/66374_458259945736_517040736_5973279_712442_n.jpg Luna as a wee baby (caught in the rain, aw sad) and her mommy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/luna.jpg I'll try to get pictures of the evil turkey. Damn turkey.
  7. QUOTE (CMWriter @ Nov 12 2010, 07:22 PM) My mom has epilepsy, and has since she was my age (17). At first there was a scare I might have been developing it, too, a couple weeks ago, but I had an EEG and the neurologist thinks I'll be fine. However, it's well-controlled and it's just become a part of life. When I was younger, though, she had at least a few a year. I think it's much scarier to witness a loved one having a seizure than to be the one having it, though, because you don't remember anything anyways. Thanks to modern medicine and many technological/medical advancements, at least people aren't blaming seizures on witchcraft anymore. Knowledge is key! There are 26 types of seizures, many of which you are fully conscious during. Considering the fact that epilepsy has now past mental illness as the number one cause of suicide, I would say "no" to that. Sorry. For many, you get used to living with a chronic illness, but for many others it's not that easy. For two of my seizures (I have four different kinds), I am fully aware and my auras are sometimes far freakier than my seizures. Epilepsy is not hereditary. Because it has virtually no funding, researchers and neurologists are still not sure what even causes it. However, I am pleased to hear your tests came back negative. I am also glad to hear your mother's is well controlled. Yes, knowledge is key, but epilepsy still remains one of the most stigmatized illnesses (as well most under-funded). I don't know. Part of me doesn't care, which sounds awful considering I live with it and it kills more than 30,000 Americans a year, but it's chronic and most people living with it learn to deal with it. Plus it's not a "cool" illness (anymore at least; although LTLE has been tied to high intelligence, like with Kierkegaard and the like. Plus Caesar and Alexander the Great had it and they tried taking over the world). I just wish it would go away, that's my opinion. I wish I didn't have it. Like, with guys. The moment a guy who is interested in me finds out I have it, they won't talk to me anymore. I have been single for over four years because of it and with my ex (my one boyfriend), one of the main reasons he broke up with me was because he was worried I couldn't have "his babies." At least if I had something terminal someone would pity me, or if I was autistic I would be "cool." Not that I want someone to pity me (trust me, I am super active), but it's just... grrr... it's frustrating! I've been dealing with this a lot lately because guys get really into me, lead me on and then find out and drop me. That sounds so awful, I know, but epilepsy is like "leprosy" and guys look at me like I'm tainted and gross. Not fun. And I'm getting annoyed and am starting to feel very insecure.
  8. QUOTE (Skyla2112 @ Nov 13 2010, 10:32 AM) Hey lovely Rushgals, I had a really terrible week (loss in the family) and when I finally got back home, I tuned into "Geddy Lee is hot!" to distract myself and try to feel better. I usually just settle for lurking around, but I wanted to say thanks to all of you for making such a nice (HOT!) archive. I thought my Rush picture collection was pretty solid, but I found a few gems to add here and there. Even though I've been a quiet forum visitor, I appreciate this one - and all you gals - alot! (Whenever I get THAT odd look when I praise our lovely singer, I cite you all as back-up for my views!) Sorry about your loss and glad the Ged thread could help (damn, I rhymed! )
  9. Heck yes! Pet thread!!! I currently am owned by a fat mare and a fat guinea pig. Fat mare, Reffy Breed: Peruvian Paso (Spanish horse. I like to lie and say she's an Andalusian because she practically is) Disposition: Spastic, spooky, goofy, flighty, loving, sweet, smarter than any human I know Gender: 125% hormonal mare Age: 11 Owned: She's owned me for five years. I'm not yet trained We do dressage, some jumping (which is hilarious. I do more jumping than she does), timed events, drill, competitive trail rides, parades, western pleasure, and regular trail rides. What we don't do: anything smart. We want to do an endurance ride. Favorite treats: Peppermints and Mountain Dew Weirdest trait: she can tell when I'm about to have a seizure and she will either smell my head (if I'm on the ground) or if I'm in the saddle she will grab my boots. She also will not others ride her; she is known to throw anyone else but me. Four years ago during her training (floppy ears and soft mouth). Aw. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/Horses/IMG011-1.jpg At a show; she looks suuupppppeeeeerrrr cute and clean. I probably used oxyclean on her that day (I KID, I KID!). But I don't know how I got her that white. Two years ago when I ran timed events until I had a seizure. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/Horses/IMG017-1.jpg Suzie Q!! Suzie Q is post-Mustang Sally, my other guinea pig who happened to have lived to be five and half (my pets live to be long because I sort of treat them as children). Suzie Q, baby guinea pig, badass, bad disposition, high pitched squeaker, obnoxious. Likes: treats, being fed, having her way. Does not like: roommate's cats, boy roommates, me telling her no, not having food, the carpet (she hates the carpet. I do not know why). Gender: 100% lady pig Age: Five months- she's still a baby She and the kitten are frenemies. She was cold so I covered her in my roommate's leopard print fleece; she liked it, obviously because it's leopard print and she likes prints. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/76416_466078015736_517040736_6113322_5113851_n.jpg And when she was just about two months old, on my penguin sheets (she told me she was not a fan, judging by her face). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/76572_461306140736_517040736_6026805_1366317_n-1.jpg I'm tempted to grease her mohawk, though. ETA: I'll get pictures up of the baby sometime (by baby, I mean the half Andalusian filly).
  10. QUOTE (Babycat @ Nov 12 2010, 12:56 PM) QUOTE (garbo @ Nov 12 2010, 12:50 PM) Random question: do we have a pet thread? Not that I know of - would you like to start one? Yes, I would... hehe.
  11. Alright, here it goes. Be prepared for the fangirling to begin. It may get scary (not obscene. I'm not like that, in fact I actually find that offensive, although I have a class-act A+ sense of humor). You may need to shield your eyes. We have a local radio station that plays world/obscure/sometimes foreign rap/bizarro music. It's our speciality radio station via our University. So when Muse came on the circuit, this radio station jumped on them. When I transferred Universities, I was into Pink Floyd and concept bands and bands that were willing to musically go where classical musicians went (listen, fools, composers were f*cked up. They had no morals, except maybe Dvorak) and were inspired by the likes of Orwell and Golding and love conspiracy theories and blah blah blah. And glitter pants. So, one day, many years ago, I was listening to weirdo radio station when Muse came on. I almost had a car accident. Maybe I did. No, I didn't. I pulled over. I sat back. Maybe I had a seizure. It was, like, Jesus' second coming. It was like a tabula rosa- if my car had been a sweat lodge and I had been John Locke circa the third season of LOST... oh, the stupid analogies are endless. I wrote down the lyrics to Hysteria, drove my car home (somehow... probably by magic for all I know), looked them up on my sister's G4, and discovered Muse. After that I bought everything (which by that point they only had three albums out, which isn't much). Since then I've followed them as obsessively as I feasibly can (I'm obsessive, but not, if that makes sense. I will fangirl it out with the best of them, but because I am private, I respect that of others and hold a distance). As much as I loved Knights of Cydonia as a single, Black Holes and Revelations was a bit of a let down, albeit the lyrics were kind of awesome (Hoodoo, Assassin, and Map of the Problematique all are stellar in that department), but I do think The Resistance, especially with the Exogeneis fake symphony (symphonies have four movements; concertos have three; I think Matt did this on purpose), really bumped Muse back up again (plus it's based off of 1984). I think Origin remains my favorite of their albums, but I really love all of them for their various reasons. Plus I love that Muse, like Rush, continuously evolves. I expect their next album to be totally different, but distinctly Muse. This past year my sister called me up and was like, "Guess what?" and I was like, "What, fool?" and she announced that she bought us Muse tickets for our birthdays (we have birthdays very close together). WICKED! Pumped, I headed up to Ohio to see them, only to get super sick and end up in the hospital the day of the concert. However, I made my sister go to see them and she, being the kickass sister she is, took pictures with my phone and got me a t-shirt. Aw. And during the concert, she would call me, put the phone to the audio, and ask me what song they were playing!! And I'm so obsessed I knew what song they were playing... As I was ralphing. Then they came to Voodoo, so my friend and I went and we managed to get in the fourth row, which was killer and they were so worth it, although the American audiences are awful. Since I've been into them a lot longer than most Americans have been, I know all of their stuff (one of the guys I made a bet with had no idea Showbiz was their debut album, let alone one of their albums. What kills me is that they don't even play anything from Showbiz anymore. I love Muscle Museum. Whatever). Many times I was the only one singing and jumping up and down, which got me some odd stares even from guys in the audience and during MK Ultra Matt directly looked right at me (because I was the only one bouncing up and down- ha. I probably looked like an idiot, but I don't care!). In my defense, I warned people around me and there were two Twilight fans, so... they were properly warned. They had no excuses. So, they encompass everything I love in a band- good musicality, weird space age music, conspiracy theories, concept albums (Absolution was based off Pink Floyd's The Wall and I already said what The Resistance was based off of; plus all of their albums are very post-apocalyptic) and if you go into the Rush section of the forum I wrote up a massive comparison of the two bands. And of course I can find a lot of criticism of them, too. They're not perfect and I think they can still grow, but right now I'm basking in their glory. And I hope that Matt ditches Kate Hudson. Some pictures I got of Muse at Voodoo. PLEASE do not steal. Dom and Chris walked on in demure jeans and t-shirts and Matt walked in an outfit that would have given Lady GaGa a run for her money (he's known to do this). And rockstars must have fans. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/CIMG2057.jpg Glitter pants, must have glitter pants. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/40136_461335405736_517040736_6027806_5836684_n.jpg Chris, Muse's bassist, during Hysteria http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/72533_461332595736_517040736_6027704_7058950_n.jpg Matt with his sweet piano http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/73778_461333510736_517040736_6027726_456329_n.jpg My favorite shot that I got. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/77169_461335770736_517040736_6027824_7800483_n.jpg Matt and Dom during Resistance (the song). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/148174_461331455736_517040736_6027680_5362464_n.jpg
  12. *sings really loudly and obnoxiously* "No more, Mr. Nice Guy, no more, Mr CLEEEAAANNN!!" I mean, really, Neil can write lyrics, but NO ONE can write lyrics like that... Oh wait, we were talking about Geddy, my bad. I do appreciate seeing Mr. Cooper and Mr. Lee together. It doth a rocker girl's heart good.

  16. QUOTE (thing2jordan @ Nov 11 2010, 03:18 PM) QUOTE (Force Ten @ Nov 11 2010, 02:54 PM) Some picstures from the Classic Rock Magazine awards ceremony, looking very dapper, I must say: http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/GoodCompany/Geddy%20Lee/GeddyLeeClassicRockRollHonourMediaBoardsPRzbGbkFHzHl.jpg http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/GoodCompany/Geddy%20Lee/GeddyLeeClassicRockRollHonourMediaBoards4SY6ZpO1KFwl.jpg http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/GoodCompany/Geddy%20Lee/276878809-canadian-artists-rush-receive-living-legend-award-classic-rock-awards.jpg Very dapper. Looks like he's lost weight, too. Agreed! He is quite dapper.
  17. Off day. To quote Dark Helmet, "It feels like my brains are going into my feet!"
  18. One of our CP girls got the concept of right/left brain cross over activity really fast last night in hippotherapy! I was so proud of her!!! And she is also developing really strong muscle coordination and the horse tripped and she was able to right herself immediately. Despite the barn drama (I hate barn drama), those kids keep me coming back. They are the best kids ever.
  19. As far as sending stuff off to be signed: I am not one for signatures, HOWEVER, the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking it would be cool to have something signed by the guys (I would actually love to have a book signed by them, but that's a long story as to why). I don't know how Meet and Greets go, so sending something off... is it worth it and am I guaranteed to get it back? And do I actually have to write a letter with it or can I just send something? I'm just wondering how this works considering the only thing I have signed by a celebrity is a book and I happened to have personally literally bumped into the celebrity.
