  1. Good to see some support for Dave Gregory. I think that Camel's Andrew Latimer deserves huge praise. Also Bill Nelson.
  2. I tend to always play albums in full (time permitting), without skipping any tracks.
  3. Local blues/rock merchants Marshal Bravestar this Saturday, then Paul Weller on Oct 15th.
  4. I've just ordered "English Electric: Full Power" by Big Big Train as well as the Deluxe edition of "A Feast Of Consequences" by Fish. As for downloads... I've just bought "Inform - Educate - Entertain" by Public Service Broadcasting, the new Goldfrapp album "Tales of Us" and "Warrior On The Edge Of Time" by Hawkwind.
  5. All I can really advise is that you find some way to listen to it. If I had read a description of this music, I probably wouldn't have expected to enjoy it anywhere near as much as I do. In the end your own ears have to be the judge.
  6. The SYL stuff is too heavy for my tastes but I love "Epicloud", "Ki" and "Ziltoid the Omniscient".
  7. Hmm, it's hard to tell. The question is... do you like classic jazz-tinged 70s style prog? Because that's where so many of the sounds on this album are pludered from... and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. I don't expect to hear a better sounding album than this any time in the next 10 months or so.
  8. 1.Operation Mindcrime - Queensryche 2. Powerslave - Iron Maiden 3. Mob Rules - Black Sabbath 4. The Hunter - Mastodon 5. Ghost Reveries - Opeth 6. Down To Earth - Rainbow 7. Blackout - Scorpions 8. The Black Album - Metallica 9. Back in Black - AC/DC 10. Bomber - Motorhead
  9. Do others agree that the beginning of The Watchmaker is very Genesish? (in a good way). Also, how Chris Squire is that opening Bass riff Mr Beggs splurges upon us to kick of Luminol?
  10. Mr Wilson has created a masterpiece. Sure, there is a heavy early 70's Jazz/Prog influence (I'm thinking Lizard era King Crimson) but this album still sounds awesome. The only track that is not really grabbing me so far is "The Pin Drop". Everything else is sublime.
  11. Clutch are a great band. If you wanted to give their music a label I guess that you could call it Heavy Blues or Blues Metal. I have "Robot Hive/Exodus", "From Beal Street to Oblivion" & "Strange Cousins from the West".
  12. Marillion Porcupine Tree Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin Blue Oyster Cult Eels Rush Black Sabbath The Divine Comedy Camel
  13. So it's a new month and a new set of eMusic credits... but not for long... This morning I spent a bunch of those credits on... Focus - "X", Hawkwind - "Choose Your Masques", Lord Huron - "Lonesome Dreams" (very melodic - think Fleet Foxes crossed with Midlake) and the new Skarlett Riot single - "Faded Memory".
  14. How come you guys are bigging up The Raven That Refused to Sing? I didn't think it was out 'till the end of Feb.
  15. I've just ordered the 2 CD version of the new Riverside album "Shrine of New Generation Slaves" after listening to the whole thing on Spotify. I have also pre-ordered Steven Wilson's "The Raven That Refused To Sing" (the CD/DVD 5.1 combo version). With Alan Parsons at the helm I expect this to sound fantastic.
  16. Marshal Bravestar Lord Huron Riverside (not that new I guess)
  17. Wow I have a 100%er in my record collection... The Ocean Hounds. Skyfish and Dreams so Real also score pretty high with 95.4% and 93.2% respectively.
