  1. What did you folks think of the Layne/Pete fight?? I almost died laughing at Pete trying to be all manly and Layne just wiping the floor with him.
  2. HELL YEAH!!! Yeah, it's a pretty fine time to be a Rush fan
  3. Batten down the hatches folks, and stay safe!
  4. I'm in Charleston, WV, and barely noticed anything. If I hadn't been looking right at my glass of iced tea and saw that it was moving very, very slightly, I'd never known we had an earthquake. None of my pets acted funny either--my cat was asleep on my lap and never woke up.
  5. Has anyone seen the trailers for this yet? I kind of like the premise but we all know how the premieres are cut so they're the best of a bad bunch. Thoughts?
  6. The day I met my husband and the day he proposed.
  7. I've always been terrified of pool drains and those large industrial fans like you used to see in the ceilings of supermarkets. The back part of the fan would be hanging out of the ceiling and I'd about turn myself inside out so I wouldn't have to walk under them. Oh, and heights...flying, I'm okay with. Get me on a stepladder with more than 3 rungs and I'm sweating and nauseated. Don't know when that phobia showed up but damn, it's no fun.
  8. He mentioned in one of his books that Carrie gave him an engagment ring but it had gotten lost...could that be it?
  9. I've been on Ambien for about a year now due to horrible, horrible nightmares and insomnia. While it knocks me out cold, I HAVE to get at least 8 hrs sleep or I'm no good the next day. I've fallen asleep standing up on the days I got less than 8 which is NOT good.
  10. HOLY SHIT I'M GOING TO HAVE NIGHTMARES FOR WEEKS. I've seen some bad mug shots and that's got to be the worst I've seen so far. Man, talk about going from the top of the pile to the bottom.
  11. Congratulations, and here's to you having a most excellent future
  12. Nice licence plates! I'm going to get vanity tags for my truck as soon as my income tax refund arrives.
  13. I've got a 50 second section of YYZ on mine. It's currently my hubby's work number's ringtone.
  14. Got these from a couple folks @ work who do whitewater: http://www.aceraft.com/west-virginia-white-water-rafting http://www.wvwhitewater.com/
  15. BIG congratulations!! Me and daHubby are coming up on our 17th Annaversary here in a couple of weeks. Can't believe it's been that long. ::raises glass and hands over cake::
  16. Gas around here went up to $4.29-4.50/gal for regular and almost $5 for diesel. Makes me oh so glad that I didn't go with the diesel truck I was looking at. Yes, it's nice to have a second vehicle, esp. with us having the barn and all but anything off the farm, especially towing a loaded horse trailer, is going to have to be planned out and thought out big, big time.
  17. What scares me is that he probably HAS started in on people
  18. Yes, about the only thing RS is good for is birdcage liners, and that's only after I run out of local newspapers.
  19. Tell me about it. Sometimes I think we're the epicenter for people having...erm...improper congress with farm animals. Several years ago, a local funeral home had a "live Nativity," farm animals 'n' all. A guy was caught not once, but TWICE, doing a sheep. Pardon me while I go barf in a corner myself...
  20. http://wvgazette.com/News/201105020871 Text version: Man high on bath salts kills neighbor's goat, police say By Gary A. Harki The Charleston Gazette Mark Thompson, 19, of Alum Creek, is charged with animal cruelty Advertiser CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police say an Alum Creek man high on bath salts killed his neighbor's pygmy goat and that neighbors found him in his bedroom, dressed in a bra and panties, next to the dead animal, said Lt. Bryan Stover of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department. Mark Thompson, 19, of Greenview Road, is charged with animal cruelty after police got a call from a woman who said he stole her goat at about 3:15 a.m. Monday, Stover said. Lisa Powers said she bought the goat on Friday as a gift to her 4-year-old grandson. They named the male goat Bailey after a female character on the Disney Channel television show "The Suite Life on Deck." "The baby just loved him," she said. Powers' nephew, Joshua Pollis, got a call from a neighbor early Monday morning, she said. "They told him that my goat was wandering around in Mark's house and he'd better come and get it," she said. "They called my nephew because he'd been there before." Pollis and two women walked into Thompson's house looking for the goat, according to the criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. The three entered the house and made their way to Thompson's bedroom door when Thompson spoke to them, Powers said. "He told them, 'Don't come in, I'm naked,'" Powers said. "But they opened the door and he was standing there with his pants down. He had on women's clothing and the goat was dead and there was blood everywhere. It was just a scene." Thompson ran out the front door when Pollis asked him about the dead goat in his room, according to the complaint. Police got a search warrant for the house, and searched the woods for Thompson. They found him several hours later. Thompson allegedly told police he was on bath salts for about three days. When police entered the house they found fresh blood near the front door of the bedroom and in Thompson's bedroom to the right of the front door. Inside the bedroom police found the small gray and white goat wearing a pink collar lying dead on the floor, blood coming from its neck, according to the complaint. There was a pornographic magazine photo laying a few feet from the goat, the complaint states. "We know the animal had at least one stab wound," said Cpl. Sean Snuffer, a detective with the Sheriff's Department. "They are also searching for signs of sexual trauma." Police took the dead animal to a veterinarian for a necropsy, he said. Police are continuing their investigation. Thompson was arraigned Monday afternoon and taken into custody by Adult Protective Services. Snuffer said the people in the community where Thompson lives told police they have been concerned about his mental health. "I don't think they are very happy, the community over there," he said. "From what I understand they have been fearful of him before." Powers said she and her family have lived next to Thompson for about three years. She said she took him to church with her family more than a year ago. "Then he stole the communion wine and went out the downstairs door," she said. "I never took him back. ... We tried to be friends with him until we saw how he was." Powers said she asked him not to come back to her house. "He'd come anyway," she said. "He's just been a menace since I've been here. ... "He runs through the woods, screaming and cursing and hitting things. What scared me was I didn't want him to hurt one of my grandchildren." She said police have been diligent in their investigation. "They tried to find fingerprints on the chain the goat was tied to," she said.
  21. This clip made me laugh myself half off my chair at work today. Enjoy!
  22. At the gas station down from my place, regular was $4.05 and diesel $4.25, I think [just outside of Charleston, WV].
