  1. Oh man, those are BRILLIANT!!!
  2. What did you folks think of the Layne/Pete fight?? I almost died laughing at Pete trying to be all manly and Layne just wiping the floor with him.
  3. HELL YEAH!!! Yeah, it's a pretty fine time to be a Rush fan
  4. The garlic ones are great to have in the morning....keeps annoying co-workers away !
  5. Has anyone seen the trailers for this yet? I kind of like the premise but we all know how the premieres are cut so they're the best of a bad bunch. Thoughts?
  6. I've never been able to make it past book 3 in the original series. The story after that point gets really garbled [at least for me] and I just can't follow the storyline. The prequels are pretty decent bathroom reading
  7. Almost forgot---there was a little cafe/diner type place inside the Murphy's Department store in downtown Wheeling that had some excellent food, esp. their milk shakes. I can remember how good they were, not runny and nasty like the shakes you get today from places like Burger King. These were made with ice cream and were so cold the metal cup would frost over. Mmm. Miss those shakes!
  8. Oh yesh, they are WONDERFUL. My favorite afternoon snack with some soda and HWHEE, sugar rush time!
  9. I've read several of the DUNE prequels by Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert, and they're okay. They do fill in a lot of the gaps for me, but in some places it's as if Herbert and Anderson just create characters to kill them off in gruesome and sometimes creative ways, and some times the storyline itself just DRAGS. Anyone else read 'em and want to discuss?
  10. Nice licence plates! I'm going to get vanity tags for my truck as soon as my income tax refund arrives.
  11. Sorry @ the double post, the Net blipped.
  12. I made the mistake of getting some instant lemonade powder at the grocery store that was sweetened with Stevia. I was fine the day I drank it but the next day...me and the bathroom got to be very good friends [sorry about the TMI there]. I think the effects have to do with the chemicals that make up Stevia and sugar-based substitutes. Our bodies can use sucrose but not lactalose, so the body is going to get rid of it. That's how it was explained to me awhile back, but I don't know how the artificial stuff works.

  14. There used to be this really cool diner called Southern Kitchen that was the BOMB. Their lasagna was killer and their desserts were absolutely the best around. They were open 24/7, except on Xmas, and everyone from college kids to grandparents would be there. They had the coolest decor too, it was all chickens---from chicken statues and paintings to a chicken on the flush handle of the toilet in the bathrooms [yes, this is confirmed by my hubby]. When the lady who owned it died, no one stepped up to re-open the place even though it was a big time money maker. The building is still vacant and I wouldn't be surprised if it was torn down soon to make way for another fast-food joint. There was also a diner downtown in Charleston called the Quarrier Street Diner that I'd heard was very good but alas, it went under when the people who owned it passed away. There were mutterings that it was going to be re-opened but I don't know if it has or not.
  15. Give me real sugar any day. All of the artificial sweetners, even Stevia, make me really, really sick.
  16. I was in high school during the mid-80's and let me tell you, the memory of watching someone break a fork trying to cut into a Tator-Tot and having both Tot and fork take flight is something I'm going to remember till the end. The "cold" line consisted of either balogna or tuna salad sandwiches, a pile of wilted lettuce they tried to pass off as salad, and a pile of something that was billed as "Jello" but I think it escaped from the biology lab. The "hot" line wasn't much better, but at least 90% of the time it was cooked all the way through.
  17. VERY nice pics, I love all the little details on Neil's kit.
  18. Yeah, the Pamplemousse chick makes me cringe. Plus she's got serial killer eyes
  19. My older Quaker Parrot, Sami, said "I love you!" very clearly, then her neighbor [also a QP] said "I love you too!" I love my birdies!
  20. First this, then 1984, then whatever book offends someone. I swear to Og we're turning into a bloody nanny state.
  21. I hope they don't tour. I've seen a couple of their shows on the 'Net and Paul's voice isn't that great for Queen songs. Bad Company, etc., yes. Queen, no.
  22. I found out yesterday morning that a good friend of mine that I've worked with for years passed away on Christmas Day. She had announced that she was retiring at the beginning of the month and there were several of us that wanted to give her a kick-ass send off party. She was a sweetheart and I'll miss her like mad.
  23. I'd like to see them do a Columbus gig myself. And if I could afford it, I'd gladly haul my butt [and my husband too] to see them in Ottawa.
  24. Thank you folks for this thread---a LOVELY Xmas present
  25. I saw a thread like this on another message board and thought I'd ask you folks your opinions. What's the WORST beer you've ever tasted?
