rushgoober
my idea of hell would be to be locked in a huge banquet hall, always hungry, but with the most magnificent smorgasbord you could possibly imagine of incredible delicous food and it's all you can eat. the catch is there is country music BLASTING out of loud speakers, so you can't enjoy any of it. it would be worse if there was no food, because then you could at least justify being miserable, but the feast just makes it all the more bittersweet and torturous... D-13
Well...you would not surive in Calgary....or any part of Alberta for that matter. I used to hate country music...I absolutely love it now. It's def. an acquired taste....actaully I dare you to come out to Calgary during the Stampede season and to see if you still hate it... Country is f*cking hard music to play...and now I respect guys like Kieth Urban because he is def. a wicked guitar player...and to mention...drumming in those sorts of songs ain't no piece of cake....thats F'n hard too. As a musican this is how I respect country music. It's great I love it.

launchpad67a
I love country music, well most of it. Only after I opened my ears and gave it a chance did I realize that some of the best songwriters and musicians are country artists. I would much rather listen to country that almost ANY of the new rock crap out there!
rushengal
I listen to a fair amount of country. When ever I'm with my dad, he got hooked on it after spending a year in Nebraska. Its all he listens too, but sometimes... I'm able to put in a Pink Floyd song and he'll listen, saying that he saw that concert in Montreal.. blah blah blah same old story. But it's all good! I used to think most new music was crap too, but much to my suprise, there's actually a lot of good new rock music. A lot of it doesn't get radio play though. As for country music... I'm not a fan of it. Although I do realize that there are some talented country musicians, I just don't enjoy the style.

I would much rather listen to country that almost ANY of the new rock crap out there! I agree ... I didn't get into country until I was in my late 20s. Also, people who shut themselves off from a whole genre may miss out on something good. One more thing, ... for those who do not like country, try going to a few shows, there are some great musicians in country. Most of them actually "rock it up" quite a bit. I saw Charlie Daniels a year ago and was blown away by his drummer. Looked him up and he listed Neil as one of his main influences. I wasn't surprised ... he was that good. For if we can't appreciate all forms of music (*and I use the term Music as people actually playing musical instruments, and writing lyrics that inspire and heal the masses....) then we need to take a closer look at ourselves and reevaluate what WE consider music to be, and open our minds and hearts to the other forms of music out there, because there are a lot of talented musicians, singers and songwriters out there, in ALL genres of music and its not right to insult ANY type of music, regardless of how you may feel or how immaturely (or maturely you may put it).
